I've pondered this so much. Most religions, even though they are male-dominated, boast a predominately female population. I've tried and tried to understand why otherwise independent women would give up their autonomy to a man-led faith and just recently I think I understand why...women, much more so than men, are in need of protection. There are so many bastards out there that hurt us that it makes us want a father figure that cares about us...well...that's what I think anyway...discuss!

love, love, love Hallowe'en. I'm dressed up tonight as an spiderish elf. Saturday night I had a party at my house and I was a pirate. (was supposed the Corpse Bride but my costume didn't work out.) oh and Fenster? 'ex-Jehovahs'?...that's a dead giveaway that you've never been one!

Thanks everybody. Stonehenge...yes...that's something I hadn't thought of. I'd be envious if he goes there since I'd love to see it myself! How far is it from London?? Please do give out your fish 'n' chips place names and directions! We are huge Hallowe'en fans and we throw a big bash every year. Are there any places in London that sell cool Hallowe'en stuff??

Thanks guys. Any other tips??? What about places to eat? I've had the fish and chips in England. It's good, but then I do come from a place with the best, freshest and yummiest fish in the world, so I wasn't hugely impressed, frankly! Where else is a good place to go for eats in London?? Come on...you must have some good food recommendations over there!

...and not a whole lot of moolah to spend, what would you do? My SO is leaving tonight to fly to merry ole England for business. He has free time tomorrow and part of the day Monday to spend in London. He's never been there before so I'm looking for fun (and not too expensive!) ideas for him. I've been before so I've told him about the usual touristy things...Tower of London, Madame Toussaud's (sp?) and so forth. Anyone from there with ideas? (or not from there! I'll take ideas from whomever!)

yep...glad to be finished for a little while. Didn't I read something awhile ago about you going back to school for your Bsc? You go, gurrrl! As far as getting the book club together - you just have to set a time...people will either work around it or they will have to miss it occasionally. There's never a perfect night for everyone. My club is very much 'fun' first...we go to a specific, artsy restaurant (not-to-be-named-here-although-if-you-live-in-Halifax-and-have-a-clue-at-all-you-know-exactly-where-I'm-talking-about), and drink wine, (or whatever your preference is!), eat dinner, and discuss the book. I write up a multiple-choice, somewhat humourous, (at least I find it funny...har!) quiz to start the ball rolling and it goes from there. That's my "secret". :) Seems to work!

yeah...Kwin was great at getting folks together. I'm a bit more of an introvert than he is, as my post history can attest to. Over 5 years and only 367 posts. har! PM'ing you.
