a brother called me to ask who was delivering the talk at our hall.

i didn't know what he was talking about.

he then explained to me that this week, for the local needs, congregations across the us will have a brother deliver a special outline on blood transfusions.. .

Hearing this 'talk' last Thursday nite, I was sickened by the instructions to practice with older children on how tell the doctors they would rather die than take blood.

Imagine the worry & fear this will put into their already overloaded minds!!!

Anyway, in case we can't visualize the reality of this...check out the story of one of the kids on the cover of the infamous Awake.

"Watchtower lawyers produced a strongly worded signed affidavit from the teenager: "The way that I feel is that if I'm given any blood that will be like raping me, molesting my body. I don't want my body if that happens. I can't live with that. I don't want any treatment if blood is going to be used, even a possibility of it. I'll resist use of blood." On July 19 Justice Robert Wells of the Supreme Court of Newfoundland ruled the boy to be "a mature minor whose wish to receive medical treatment without blood or blood products is to be respected." With only weeks to live, the brave young man fulfilled a few wishes. He visited the Watchtower branch office at Georgetown, Ontario. He went to a Blue Jays baseball game and had his picture taken with part of the team. On September 12 a handful of Jehovah's Witnesses held a special service in the hospital's physiotherapy room and baptized Adrian in one of its steel tanks, thus officially inducting him into membership, and he died the next day.

Why did young Adrian take this course? The AWAKE! article mentions that he "felt that his Biblical hope of eternal life would be threatened" if he agreed to a transfusion. (page 5) Like other JW children he had been taught that death on a hospital bed was to be chosen over "an even graver risk, the risk of losing God's approval by agreeing to a misuse of blood." His parents no doubt followed the organization's instructions to "review these matters with their children" and to "hold practice sessions in which each youth faces questions that might be posed by a judge or a hospital official." (THE WATCHTOWER June 15, 1991, page 15) In other words, Adrian was thoroughly indoctrinated.

Virtually all JW youngsters receive this training to one extent or another, but not all end up in circumstances that require them to go through with it. How many actually do? The caption for Adrian's cover photo states that "thousands of youths died for putting God first" in "former times" and adds that "they are still doing it, only today the drama is played out in hospitals and courtrooms, with blood transfusions the issue." Nowhere, though, do the articles specify exactly which "former times" are referred to. (AWAKE! May 22, 1994, page 2) "

How do you explain to worldly people why Jehovahs Witnesses do not celebrate birthdays?

Funny, didn't the watchtower just celebrate their anniversary lately?

Funny how we "are allowed" to celebrate our wedding anniversaries ... and yet the miraculous, life affirming, beautiful birth of a child .... is to be FORGOTTEN. Don't even mention it on that day, sssshhhhhh you dont want them to think they are special.....well do you????

So aside from the one big birthday thing, with the 'baby showers' and all...forget it!!

Or god watchtower will punish you severely.

What is the soul?

having been religious i often searched for evidence agreeing with my point of view.

i have since left my religion, because of the vast amount of evidence against it, but there are still two concepts that boggle my mind: the beginning of time, and the soul.. my understanding of what the soul is, is not a ghost that floats around, scaring people at night.

it is you, the thing that makes you alive, that allows you to experience pain and happiness, and differentiates you from a robot.. perhaps you're believe that pain and happiness are merely electrical signals travelling around in your brain, which i think is partly correct, but i will share some examples as to why i think it isn't that simple.. i don't think of humans as being their bodies.

Isn't this the problem the watchtower has with it's teaching about the soul. We are a soul. Don't have a soul. Soul dies .... everything is dead. Nothing of you at all has even a spark of thought or life. Totally dead.

When they speak of god resurrecting this dead thing back into being you .... it would not be a resurrection. It would be a recreation. It may look like you. But would not be you. Sort of like a Clone.

The new body walking around in the 'paradise' wouldn't be you. Your thoughts perished when you died!

This is a whole new concept for me, so I'm still toying with it.

Something that I find strange ....

The Obituary column of any newspaper will list names of the deceased & funeral arrangements but you seldom see the name of a witness or Kingdom Hall funeral.

So why does it seem (no stats) that very often in these tragic situations the perpetrator is or was a jw!?

Is it just my imagination?

Oh, and if you're wondering, yes I do find the obits interesting!

The watchtower society is taking advantage of the medical doctor's good conscience and responsibility. They are hedging their bets and counting on the doctor's good sense.

Good thing .... because wtbs have none of these things!!

A GP told me a few days ago, that if an adult refused blood, he would gladly let him just bleed out ... but with children, he just couldn't do it!!! (No guarantees!)

Imagine, with all the REAL life and death things going on ... people are put under pressure with this kind of idiotic nonsense and actually "stiff upper lip" dying on purpose!!!!

It's true, this was covered in meeting tonite omg ! I'm still sick!

They literally said to be faithful and refuse blood for your child. If child was older teach them to be obedient and faithful. Prepare them...what to say.

Seemed like they were kind of hoping the authorities would step in though, and give the blood. Hypocrites!! Said it was all the parents responsibility to do this ...not the society!!!! oh yeah!

Imagine, watching your child bleed out. Idiots! The reward from the wt will be your childs picture posted on the front cover of the awake magazine!

Sheep and goats info needed!

an elderly lady/sister came to visit my wife the other day, she wasn't here so she got me instead.

this sister [late 70s early 80s] is a born in, has a husband who was an elder for many years, but is very sick now, also a daughter who was horribly [wrongfully] d/f, even by their rules, and a granddaughter in a simular situation.. at the close of our 'little chat' she was saying, "where can i flee to".

i told her that my wife and i had heeded the 'organizations own advice 'if you find your religion is lying, cheating or being deceitful or has bloodguilt, then flee from that religion'.
