the "end" of mankind, which has been long predicted by jehovah's witnesses, could happen as soon as this year - according to latest announcement from the christian religion.. in the latest edition of jehovah's witnesses monthly publication watchtower, an article translated into 700 languages - urges people to join the religion or face certain death when god sends his forces from the heavens to "remove all world leaders," "exterminate his enemies" and "rid the world of satan".. critics have lambasted the warning of a coming armageddon as yet another "failed prediction" by the religion, which has previously delivered similar alerts such as a foretold apocalypse in 1975.. indeed, jehovah's witnesses have been warning people of the need to recognise jehovah or face certain death when the "end" comes for more than 100 years.. the christian-based religion was founded in the 1870s by charles taze russell in pittsburgh, pennsylvania, us, as an offshoot from the bible studies movement.. today, there are 8.2million jehovah's witness evangelists, while 19.9 million celebrated their annual memorial festival marking christ's death - worldwide in 2014.. followers do not believe in military service and will not accept blood transfusions.. in a new eight-page article, watchtower said jehovah's witness leaders are now "convinced" humans are in their "final days" before the armageddon.. they cite an increase in global armed conflict, such as the rise of the islamic state terror group, as well as natural disasters such as volcanoes and earthquakes.. the lengthy article, written by an unnamed author, said: "will god let humans continue to dominate one another and threaten the future of mankind?
no, as we have seen, he will step in and bring an end to centuries of misery and oppression.

when it finally clicked,.
and you realized there was no 1914, there was no generation that would see the end of a wicked system, there was no paradise around the corner, .
what went through you mind?.
Waking up at a young age gives a wonderful opportunity to have many many decades ahead to really live. But we never know for sure.
Someone who is 22 may die at 29. An older person at 72 may live happily to 95. So the young one only had 7 years to live while the elderly one lived 23 years.
The point being, that life is in the minutes. Not worrying about the chunks of time ahead but being fully present in the NOW.
Btw, I can say this as a person who has lived in 10 decades and still working, still planning, still growing .... and still feeling compassion for people. There is huge compassion & love throughout this thread that is so life confirming.........

OMG I am not going to live forever!!!!!! Once I could actually mouth those words & reality set in, I was ok with it .......but madder than hell about wasting so much of the life I DID have!
The irony is that the go to 'feel good' belief was trashed. Whenever I had problems or wasn't saving enough money or didn't have the luxuries that some higher-up jws had .........my feel good' thing would kick in with the thought .... oh well we will all be in the same boat & throwing our money in the street real soon now!! Ya right!
my name is alex.
i have been a reader/lurker of this site for over a year now.
first time i am posting.
A huge welcome to you Alex .
Wishing you a wonderful life with your own family. It is a terrible thing when a 'religion' teaches its own people to hate one another!
Things will continue to get better, although possibly two steps forward and a half a step back for awhile.
ive been here less than a year, but ive notice that the majority of us have faded for various reasons.
we also read the stories of those who got disfellowshipped or disassociated themselves.
in the majority of the cases, their parents will not talk to the children for years and the children will not talk to the parents even if they are dying.
Those who have stood up & spoken-up about the damaging deception of wt, have put themselves in a position to lose everything. Most are not secure financially nor influential ......and yet they stand up.
How much more so should these self proclaimed christs be moved to save the 8 million, whom they have mind controlled, from wasting their lives on a worthless pursuit!
I have no pity for these liars, they preach about love & even dying for the brothers .......... ya right!
i love the people who go to my congregation.
they are sweet, friendly, and lovable.
(which is one of the things that makes being awake so much easier.
Wow ........ the last time a "very good friend" would even talk to me, said "Even if they are wrong .....I would never leave!"
They do sound a lot like Archie Bunker ...especially when he said "last will and testicles!" haha
Ohhh well ...

sometime during or after my conversion to jehovah witnesses 55 years ago , i felt it was my calling , duty , mission , to preach the word , and witness to as many people as i could about the watchtower`s interpretation of the bible that i believed was the truth.. and may i presume i am not alone there .i feel many if not all would have had similar thoughts.. without being presumptuous i think i have found my real calling in life , in doing what little i can to add my 2 cents worth in exposing this religion for what a fraud it actually is ,especially to the newbies , because most of us here have already found ttatt .. so witnessing to the truth about jehovah`s witnesses on this board , gives me much more pleasure than i ever had witnessing for the watchtower organization.
and this site / board has enabled me to do that , thank you simon ,ang, and company.. smiddy.
Great topic Smiddy! I found this site to be a 'life' saver also, and want to give a hand-up where I can. With the advent of Simons changes to this site it seems a bit less friendly, probably due to losing some who didn't bother to get back on, or had to change their name. So for me the loss of the old familiar routine has been hard. Having said that, I agree that exposing the deceit & danger of the wt needs to be done.....to any extent that we personally can. All my best wishes to all the Newbies who have come here in the last 6 mths ........you are a quickly growing great crowd! As Mike & Kim would say.....Welcome to your freedom!

I guess it is pretty hard to explain that hate is love!
That hurtful, rude, bullying behavior is love!
"Isaiah 5:20 (CJB) Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who change darkness into light and light into darkness, who change bitter into sweet and sweet into bitter! "
this picture is in the new publication from this year's convention, titled "return to jehovah".
part 1the lost one i will search for.
personally, the animal looks scared of the shepherd.
This sheep is cornered! Looks pretty menacing to me! Look how the mans figure fills the space with no room to squeeze by!
Go back ......follow him ....not a chance!
over time, the watch tower society has completely changed many of its beliefs.
for example, until recently, the wts said that the emblems of the memorial represented the church, the 144,000, that the emblems did not symbolize jesus.. at times, the wts changes the name of a belief while it continues the teaching, for example, the wts used to say that jesus and the 144,000 together were the "the christ".
today, the wts denies this teaching but the name "anointed" means "christ".. do you want to see what the watch tower reveals about these things and more?
Looks fascinating Doug ...thank you so much for all your work.
