What are the costs of literature cart witnessing?

in the article on the guardian ( http://www.theguardian.com/world/2015/jul/14/jehovahs-witnesses-evangelism-church-god-armageddon ) mentioned in another thread, there's this quote of mark omalley, who is assigned to the public information desk at the jehovahs witness uk centre in north london.

we now have more than 165,000 [literature] carts on the streets in over 50 countries.

it gives us visibility and availability.

Knocking on doors put witnesses up close & personal with the householder. There you are face to face ........now what? You must speak! Your brain must put out information. You must make some sense and be able to explain & show how you are right etc.

Cart stuff ....not so much. IF asked a question ....just refer them to jw.org.

NEWS FLASH .... watchtower crap is totally unexplainable now! Wt had to put distance btw the dub & worldly persons! They even stand away from the bloody cart!!!!! Not up close & personal anymore ....... because Watchtower doesn't want to get caught out...NO ONE CAN UNDERSTAND or EXPLAIN wt crap anymore!

London Ontario Old Boy Network alive and thriving.

i served for years as an elder in london ontario.

finally stepped aside because of the old boy network, elders covering up for one another, practice of elders and their wives party times with excessive use of alcohol.

the elders families getting slaps on the wrist for major sins.

OOOH ...sounds like you were just dismissed or something along that line! Maybe Doc is looking out for you and doesn't want you to waste anymore time on watchtower! Well none of us should dwell too long on it... but love your post, sounds like your experiences are pretty interesting. As a woman I was not privy to a whole bunch of 'old boy stuff'. So after waking-up it has been quite a peek into this exclusive club. It kind of levels the playing field to hear the truth about these leaders, elders, princes', dukes etc.

My understanding is that this unheard of behavior (in wt) was last year ...probably to herald in the new JW.org blue & white watchtower insignia. After that is when it was plastered all over (my old hall 5 of them) the kh. Now there are flags flying at the CONvention in Switzerland with JW.org

Thinking of Going Full Disclosure With Wife. Sorta

One good thing ....... at least you know the source of the problem.

You are not ignorant about why you are miserable & frustrated. The enemy is not your mate. You will not go on for years and finally divorce because you are so strung out from trying to make 'this religion right'. Blaming each other for being spiritually weak, for being 'lazy', for not fitting in. You do know who the enemy is!

From someone who lost so much a long time ago & didn't have a clue.

i don't know how so many who seem to be certain this life is it after being jw's seem to happily accept it and be fine with it.

i am living and trying to live as if this is it.

i want there to be a future life/afterlife, something, but i see how fast life comes and goes and even if i'm living it to the fullest, there is no peace for me with the thought this may be it.

i've visited this many times in the past month or so, joined yesterday and finally got the nerve to post!

Welcome to you and your family Marie! Leaving a cult is very exhausting, it takes huge energy to escape & drop all that mind screw. You guys will feel as though you are on a rollercoaster ride with all the ups & downs, the big highs & the disturbing lows. You are heading out on a path called FREEDOM! Congratulations.

Feel like a new fire has been lit

i've spent the last 6 months or so really in depth into ttatt, really angry at times, cursing the cult that is the wts led by the fds, and today i feel like i've found a new fire.

i'd been completely opposed to listening to anything to do with the organization, but today i watched the brie video on youtube, young high school girl pouring her heart out in opposition of the wts and its practices.. from there, i found jwstruggle on youtube, johncedars, and derekohare... it's just a wonderful thing finding people willing to out the wts for what it is.

i had felt such anger, like, they're getting away with their bologna, but to see people like this making stands against the wts is an amazing source of hope.. besides forums such as this, what have you found that helped you?.

I am retired so I really like the chatty style of kim & mike. They are funny, down-home & have brilliant ways of explaining the crazy stuff.
