Wow .... they are hoping to get money from those who they consider to be the walking dead!
I had to work full time at a difficult job and was constantly put down because of it. But who did they come to when a "poor" pioneer needed stamps or clothes or a flight home ....those who were working that's who!

Fading tactic that worked well for me
by traveb inif you read some of my past posts you’ll know that i’ve successfully faded while being able to keep contact with my immediate family, who are still very devout jws.
when i did finally completely stop attending meetings, my family, and especially my parents (elder father and pioneer mom), were of course very interested to know the reasons why.
at first i deflected their questions, stating that i had personal reasons and did not want to explain myself.

Scared and lonely ...... so sorry you are feeling this way. Many of us are or have been in your position. All is not lost, you will gain strength and a sense of your own power & importance.
You need to find people to be with ...even strangers at coffee shops. If you are able ... go to a therapist.
Watchtower lies when they say the world is bad & the people are bad. There are wonderful people all around you ....hold out your hand to them. Keep posting & researching.......you will make it no matter what way you do it. Freedom is priceless ...be brave.

"You don't go to church in a Kingdom Hall"
by stephanie61092 in"you don't go to church in a kingdom hall" was stated during the public talk yesterday.
the speaker then elaborated that "people who go to church, go to fulfill a spiritual obligation.
coming to the kingdom hall is coming to learn.

No you don't! Churches seem to be more about WORSHIP! Something that is so lacking with jw's. Salesmen's Seminars! -

What's a word that describes the way Witnesses behave as a group?
by paul from cleveland ini can't recall the word that describes a group that keeps to itself like the witnesses do.
i thought it was "insular" but i don't think that's the one i'm looking for after reading the definition.
i remember an elder using the word "clannish" and that has the proper definition but it reminds me of a group of elves.

It is the feeling of wanting to pound your head against a brick wall while talking to a jw .........that word!
Let Carl Sagan in his book Broca's Brain, help you Paul .
"....One prominent American religion confidently predicted that the world would end in 1914. Well, 1914 has come and gone, and -- while the events of that year were certainly of some importance -- the world does not, at least so far as I can see, seem to have ended. There are at least three responses that an organized religion can make in the face of such a failed and fundamental prophecy. They could have said, "Oh, did we say '1914'? So sorry, we meant '2014.' A slight error in calculation. Hope you weren't inconvenienced in any way." But they did not. They could have said, "Well, the world would have ended, except we prayed very hard and interceded with God so He spared the Earth." But they did not. Instead, they did something much more ingenious.
They announced that the world had in fact ended in 1914, and if the rest of us hadn't noticed, that was our lookout. It is astonishing in the face of such transparent evasions that this religion has any adherents at all. But religions are tough. Either they make no contentions which are subject to disproof or they quickly redesign doctrine after disproof. The fact that religions can be so shamelessly dishonest, so contemptuous of the intelligence of their adherents, and still flourish does not speak very well for the tough-mindedness of the believers. But it does indicate, if a demonstration were needed, that near the core of the religious experience is something remarkably resistant to rational inquiry.

The Forgotten Ones
by ToesUp injust curious...is anyone hearing the older/infirm ones speaking out to others on how they are being treated in the congregation?
without giving anything away, i have spoken to so many older ones (some are sickly or can't drive in the evening or can't drive at all) who can't make it to all the meetings, assemblies, etc., that are complaining on how they are being treated by the more righteous ones in the hall.
the ones i have spoken to make the comment that it seems to be the younger elders that have less empathy and concern for these ones.

The thing is .. that if this really was gods group & if members actually believed all that BS........ there would be no problem. But religion is a farce, a racket and a money grab! People know this in some part of themselves and they are just dragging through the motions! They don't want to lose the social club though!
About 10 years back while driving around with a car group, I suggested calling on an elderly sick 'sister who had given 65yrs to wt. Omg, they said .... "oh no ... her husband is worldly" and wouldn't stop to see her!
