Are they really that bad???
by anonymous4 inhad a good look into the doctrine, beliefs and practices of jws and to be honest, i don't really see anything wrong with it at all.. it's biblical and i've had such an eye opener the past year or so reading some of their books and magazines .
is there really any real reasons why i shouldn't want to get involved further?
:-).

After what y'all have said, i'm not so keen on doing a bible study. Anyway, there's no point, I already gone through all their study books with my nwt and kjv bible. What'd be the point doing it again?
tec, I guess you are right, I just need to go to Jesus Christ. Thing is people sometimes need support from other believers, that is why I wanted to seek for a church or for some other folks who believed as I did. I guess there aren't any.
jgnat you said seperation of anointed from the other sheep, and the denial of the heavnely reward for the great majority of believers was something unbiblical.
Could you maybe explain why? and what about the verses they use to prove their points, are they all taken out of context or something? Wht about all the verses that say the meek wil inherit the earth etc..?
btw, how do you copy and paste on this thing with the box at the top?

sabastious, what are you going on about?
In reading what you guys have said, it sounds similar to what would happen if I left the church I am in now. Same thing happens, I guess we are not that different after all. I basically get stalked if I miss one meeting out of the several each week. They don't believe me if I say I was busy or that I wasn't feeling well. Then they say I have a weak faith.
jws don't like people who claim to "speak in tongues". I was told it was not from God, but from some kind of demonic force.
well, look- if they are not the truth, where is one meant to go to find the truth. Isn't there even just ONE group out there that teach the truth straight from the bible, and are in union?
Did any of you people after leaving WT join another church? If so, what?

Believe what you like. I honestly came across this site about that time ago and I applied to be a member. It took a while and I started using another email. So when I did check my email adress I found I was now a member and yesterday was my first time here.
I'm not a JW. I'm a 19 year old, tongue speaking pentecostal. There ya go.
I've studied the watchtower mags and many of their books over the last couple years. I bought them on ebay once out of interest and now have quite a collection I've read. I have never actually had a proper study although attended two thursday night meetings.
Now that I feel i've reached a point of unbelief in the church I am currently in, I was thinking of leaving and properly seeing about going along to JW meetings. The pentecostal church I'm in is very small, 600 or so. We get called a cult and, we prob are. I feel like i've lived a lie the last few years and that i've been worshipping the wrong god and doing all sorts of practices that are not from God. Feel terrible now and finally, I think/thought I had found the truth and wanted to get more involved. The only thing I don't want is to get involved in another cult.
Curtains- sorry, maybe a bit unclear. Let met explain what I meant further:
I thought by what you said you meant that be getting involved it would cause lots of division and hurt within the family? Maybe you didn't mean that.
That's why I posted the verses to show that even Jesus said that would happen if you follow him.
Anyway who cares.
I just wanted some advice cause I wasn't sure what to do and feel a bit upset about everything.
I love my bible and love learning new things from it. Maybe that's not what usual people do who are not already JWs, but that's what I do.
I'm not gonna stay around here but i'll leave my email if anyone has anymore info or anything they would like to share, or even just to chat:
thanks all

Hi curtains- you said it requires that you do a lot of violence to yourself and to your loved ones in order to chisel out badness, what do you mean?
What about luke 12:53 and mat 8:22
You said you have to live a very narrow life- but isn't the true path meant to be a narrow and few will find? Mat7:13
I'm only young and still have lots to learn. I'm still willing to listen to why what they teach is wrong and unbiblical but i'm not interested in any straw man arguments. Also although people tell me they do not teach the truth, I find it very hard to believe because they don't give enough biblical reasoning as to why. also I really have come to believe that they are the truth and it's hurtful to think otherwise.
They use God's real name and they don't teach of eternal hell fire, all go to heaven, and the trinity which I was brainwashed into believing from a young age. When I first started learning I felt it was a breath of fresh air compared to all the other crap i'd been taught from baptists, pentecostals etc.
All I want is to get closer to the truth.
Stories about mistakes from the past and elders going against what rules they set doesn't really make me change my mind. Everyone makes mistsakes, it's how they deal with it that matters..right? And it's not just the Watchtower that has made mistakes in the past, I think just about every church has made mistakes. Even Jesus' disciples made errors.
What's wrong with what they teach?
Kind regards,
anonymous4 :)
