Biden running in 2024 🤣
by LoveUniHateExams ini've filed this under news and world events, although i could've posted it under entertainment, lol.
apparently, joe biden will be seeking re-election for another term in the white house.. this, despite a recent poll showing that 70% of people don't want him to run again.. biden just has to be the worst president i've seen.
his gaffes, over-relience on a prompter, and, more than any other president, his refusal to answer journalists' questions, all go to make him top of the list in terms of bad presidents.. it will certainly provide entertainment, if nothing else..

Some thoughts on Faroese
by LoveUniHateExams ini mentioned using faroese as a basis for a pw in answer to fatfreek's op.. so, i got curious about the language and dug further on youtube, looking at a few faroese language channels*.. here's what i found out .... faroese is kinda between icelandic and nynorsk (one of the two norwegian standard languages) in many ways.
which is neat, considering the islands are geographically between iceland and norway.. the way it's written emphasises its connection to old norse, and makes the language look like icelandic.. icelandic has a letter for the voiced sound 'th', as in this.
the letter is called edh and looks like this: ð. but in faroese, it doesn't have a sound of its own.

There are some great Icelandic words. For example - Gluggaveður or "window weather " referring to weather that's nice to look at but you wouldn't want to be out in. Also, the Icelandic word for computer is fun.

I seem to remember reading, when I was trying to learn some Icelandic, that while Icelandic and Faroese look almost identical in written form, they are mutually unintelligable in the spoken form.

Is English a hybrid language?
by LoveUniHateExams inthe short answer is no, it is not.. i have heard one or two proposals that it is, including from langfocus, a usually excellent youtube channel.. but no, english is actually a germanic language which has borrowed many words from other languages.
here are several reasons why english is germanic at its core .... 1. verb forms.
i play - ich spiele.

Anony Maus,
Multilingual here too. Agreed, I think a case could be made that English is a hybrid. This isn't a negative thing. The number of adopted words in English is why it's superior to, for example, French, because there are so many more words that you can use to express yourself.
Btw, what do you think of Icelandic?

My cousin's, brother-in-law's father gave a sideways glance to someone with all the jabs and he almost died from a blood clot! True story!

Would I be disfellowshiped for this?
by ExBethelitenowPIMA inif a publisher openly told the elders that they thought the gb were wrong about some or a lot of things, but said they will not share these thoughts with anyone else then would this be a case of disassociation disgfellowship?.
my guess is lots of elders meetings and shepherding calls to try to get you to say something they could use against you.. but what would be the sin in which you are not repented?.
the only reason to be dissed is non repentance?.
