regarding worldly people, shows or toys?
etc...what quotes annoyed you the most?.
for me it was "well, you have to remember, they're worldly"... "don't trust anyone who isn't in the truth" "they may be nice but they are not friends of jehovah"... just a few to name.
"Would Jehovah/Jesus approve of that?"

I remember my mother's service at the KH when I was still in and anything about her lasted only a few minutes and the rest was, as Billy aptly put it, the sales pitch.
Sadly, my father is reaching that time where I expect his demise shortly. I haven't communicated with him (his stance) for about 4 years due to my DA status . At this point, I'm almost thinking that I would only stay for those few minutes that they talk about him and then just walk out into the lobby and wait the rest out. I've heard/given the sales pitch before.
i'm curious about human intelligence and beliefs as a natural phenomenon.. i've long suspected that even the most "normal" and well-educated person harbors "fringe" beliefs.. the purpose of this thread is not to mock beliefs of any kind.
rather it is for all of us to toss in to a pile our own unprovables so .
we can, as a group, evaluate how natural and non-neurotic such thinking might well be.. .
I'm a NO on all accounts.
the announcement was something like "[name] got checked".well if he ain't got df'ed then what does this mean?is it based on the bible?where does this policy come from?how is the rest of the congregation supposed to behave to that person in a situation like this?what happened in the background anyway?is he checked for a period of time or what?any restrictions?.
It would be considered a 'marking talk'. When I was an elder we had a few of these talks. Basically as mentioned, someone isn't blatantly violating any of the organizations rules - or the bible's for that matter.
We had one guy who was creating discord in the congregation continuously and it was decided to mark him. No names were mentioned but a 15 minute meticulous talk on the behaviour of a rabble-rouser made it obvious who this person was. Thus this person was officially marked.
do you prefer regular brew or the fancy offerings?
can you drink it -- the leaded stuff -- any time, night or day?.
no survey here, just curious.
I've run the gamut of all possible coffee making techniques and devices. I'm now drinking Nespresso. Perfect espresso every single time. Two shots in the morning and a small latte in the evening.
a bit of background.
my 6 year old talks about god an awful lot.
well more than i'm comfortable with.
Here's an article pertaining to an incident in New York state that you will find interesting.
Here is an excerpt from the article:
It's required by law," Rebecca Markert said. "Public school employees, including teachers, are prohibited from professing religious beliefs and imposing them on students."
i try to keep my hands clean regularly and stay away from areas and people that i know are sick.. i have never gotten a flu shot and i do know that many that do get one, get the flu anyway.. still, the flu is considered very very bad this year..
simply,, if you feel the flu coming,, Eat an Onion, you can add a bit of salt for taste, but basically cut it into pieces and eat a golf ball amount of onion,
Amazing! How come you are not a household name with this amazing cure? You know, just like Benny Hinn is a household name for curing everything from cancer to blindness. Oh right, he doesn't visit hospitals either.
read a story last night,.
of 45 year old twins that are already deaf and were now going blind.
the realization that they could not communicate with each other and their parents in a short time lead them to chose euthanization over the alternative.
There is more to the story than the blindness. They had other physical problem - serious problems other than going blind. The media played up the whole going blind thing while ignoring the real issue between the twins.

Anecdotal evidence might not be 100% reliable, but it is worth taking into consideration when examining all the evidence.
The expression anecdotal evidence refers to evidence from anecdotes . Because of the small sample, there is a larger chance that it may be unreliable due to cherry-picked or otherwise non-representative samples of typical cases. [1] [2] Anecdotal evidence is considered dubious support of a claim; it is accepted only in lieu of more solid evidence. This is true regardless of the veracity of individual claims. - Wikipedia.
