  Speaking of Freeminds - they could use a little help

  like most webpages that provide support to us freeminds, a leader in providing information to ex-witnesses for years now, could use a little support.. i'm not asking for money (although i'm sure that randy, like simon, could always use some money to keep the site up).. write a review go to the http://www.freeminds.org/ website and scroll down.

  on the bottom of the right hand column there is a green box that says review of free minds.

  this group great nonprofits helps groups get government funding so they can continue the work they are doing.. if you have recieved help from free minds inc. please write a review for the website.

  i was bane and i think i got banned because everytime i tried to log in i couldn't.

  Glad you have joined the myriads of people who have 'woken up' to what is going on. It hurts at the start but things get better the longer your eyes become accustomed to the real light of truth.

  MIL gives advice on how to "cope"

  my wife's parents just can't stand that we haven't been to meetings since 2005. both are pioneers, retired, active fanatical jws.. anyway, today mil called the wife and after pleasantries, stated that we should really think about coming back to the meetings so we can better cope.

  my wife answered: "cope with what?

  " mil: "cope with this old system of things..." wife: "hmmm... we seem to be coping pretty well now".

  I've had the same conversation with family as well. They just don't get it. They are under such 'mind control' that they think this system is unlivable and we all need the New System™ asap otherwise we will all lose the plot.

  Ever since I left I have NEVER been happier! Being a JW is the problem, not this system. The guilt, fear and constant boring meetings etc... makes you yearn for the New System™.

  Once you leave, those things vanish and life for me now seems wonderful and I see things in colour instead of the 'JW Grey'.

  It hurts if you have family and friends still caught up in the JW Spider-Web, you seeing them struggle and scream for the New System™ because the evil of this world (spider) is coming to get them. They don't realize that the Spider is their religion. What a trap!!!

  Has anyone ever had a 'Near Death Experience' ?

  i'm wondering if anyone here has had a "near death experience" or know of someone that has.

  as an example: such as floating above your body during your operation when the doctors 'lose' you and you make a decision to return back to your body even though the bright light and some voice tell you otherwise... .

  did it change you/them in anyway?.

  JW says "how could anyone learn the truth with only a bible"

  i would appreciate your help trying to explain to a jw, how someone could just read a bible on their own and understand what it is all about.

  without an organization.. also, how could nonchristians or pagans etc find out about christ without someone to teach them?

  after 45 years of using the bible, it is easy for me to say to jesus question "who will you go away to?

  I would simply ask:

  Do you speak/read English?

  If 'yes', then do you have an English bible?

  If 'yes', then go ahead and read it, take from it what you will.

  How can it be your faith if someone else needs to explain/tell you what to believe. It no longer becomes your belief but you are just following someone else's version of how they see/read it. What if they are wrong? You just followed someone to your detriment.

  God Appointed Hitler? (The New Testament, Government, & Morality)

  "while some christian apologists are fond of asserting that but for the existence of their god, humankind would lack any real basis to criticize (must less do something about) hitler and his nazi regime, they all seem to forget that their holy book, the new testament, unqualifiedly commands subjection and obedience to government as an instrument established by their god.

  christians who would criticize or overthrow the nazi government (or any government) would have to violate their god's unqualified commandment in order to do so.

  therefore believers are on the horns of a dilemma here: act on their god's purported "objective morality" and in the process violate their god's commands as set forth in romans, 1 peter, and titus or obey their god's commands and be forced to stand by watching a horrible regime persecute and kill people.".
