i know i live in the bible belt but why is it such a big deal if a person doesn't believe in god, why do christians get personally offended by it?.
i have friends that are christians, taoist, mormon, wiccan, buddists, catholic, athestis and agnostics.
i like my friends for the qualities that they have not the god or lack of that they believe in.. what i don't understand is why christians take it so personally when you tell them that you are an athesist?
I tell my daughter eveyone (including herself) has the right to believe what they want
Good on you, if I had kids that's what I would tell them too. (didn't have kids, I was waiting for the JW fairy tale called: The New System, what a waste of life)
When I was a blind JW I used to think that I was 100% right and the rest of the world was wrong!
How stupid, what an ass I was, this shitty religion (WTS) feeds this crap onto JWs and then pushes them to shove it down peoples throats as they preach their dumb ass message door to door.
Now I see the whole world as one family, there is NO 'us vs them' we are all bro/sis. It's called the human race. I have finally joined it and it feels great, too bad I wasted 30 years as a stupid blind JW.

i'll never forget being at a restaurant and seeing a df'ed witness, a previous friend, leaving the restaurant.. i watched him through the window, looked him in the eye and raised my hand, a bit, to say "hi".
i felt guilty doing it but at the same time it seemed like the only right thing to do..
I use to smile at them and say "hi"
I never ignored them, that is not the type of person I am.
After one DF person came back to the 'Truth', she thanked me for always smiling at her and saying my simple 'hi'.
It made her feel loved still, as most others would ignore her to the max!

what do you think it takes to "qualify" to be one of the 144k?.
do you think it is just awarded for good behavior or does it have to be earned?
what do you think will be the duties of the 144k?.
Admit It: You Wanted to Be One of the 144,000!
Yes I did!
I thought; "Now heaven is the place to be, if the creator of the universe lives there then it will surely be better than anything I have experienced here on earth"

what are some excuses used by jw's to avoid going in field service, that others didn't question or hold against the person?
I HATED Field Circus so much!!!
What a pure waste of time.
I would use the excuse of not feeling well many times or I have something on today (yeah enjoying my weekend) people viewed me as 'spiritually weak' ... but i really didn't care too much because I had free time on the weekends.
When I heard: "When on vacation we should go to 'meetings' and 'field service'", I remember saying to my close friends: "Yeah right, what dork would do that?" ... we heard of many dorky JWs doing just that!
Does anyone know if any of the wise old farts (Governing Body Men) go out in 'field service'?
Or do they use the excuse: "We are busy receiving 'New Light', so we can't go out"

before i tell you my story i just want to say thank you to everyone on this forum for their sometimes funny, and sometimes sad, and sometimes very thought provoking posts, it has helped me a lot.. my family, which consists of a younger brother and a younger sister and my parents.
we began studying with the jw's as a family (mother's insistence) in the mid 1980's.. i was then 13, my sister 12, my brother 7, my mother thought she found the answer to all life's problems and became fully brainwashed, and hence if we wanted to be a happy family we had to all become jw's, and so because we were young and mainly to keep our mother happy we all became jw's.. all i can say is my parents life might have been, happier but mine was far from happy.
i left home as soon as i could i was 16.. my sister at 18 got married to a jw, and they bought a house and settled in to married life, when my sister had her first child at 19 her son was 6 weeks old when my parents moved into their home for a few weeks, while their new home was ready to move into.. during their stay in my sisters home they all got on really well despite a small house and no room to move.
Oh my, what an awful story!
I still can't believe JWs think they are 'above' or 'better' than so called 'wordly' (non JWs) people.
They commit terrible sins, yet because they repent (by words only) in front of an elder (window cleaner) this so called religion pretends to remain clean... yeah right.
Trying to make sense of this religion Elm, will only give you headaches.

[quote="ebed_abodah"]as ex-jehovahs witnesses we believe that there are numerous points taught by the faithful and discreet slave and its governing body that contradict the bible, the very book that they are supposedly drawing all their beliefs from.
if jehovah god is actually using the governing body to disseminate scriptural truths, as they like to call it, then any seeming contradictions between what they teach and what the bible teaches would be easily answered to a point that all would find satisfaction with.. with this in mind, i want to ask any active jehovahs witnesses who may view this site some questions that have stuck out in my mind.
these questions, with bible verses to support my view, are coming from me honestly and without any trickery involved.
Welcome Ebed_Abodah, great post!
i was reading crisis of conscience and i noticed a really odd pic of fred franz on page 90 (looks like he was sitting down?
) in the picture, and i knew i had seen him somewhere before (watchtower) or yearbook, and i always wondered why the organization took so many pictures of the presidents back then...if they didnt want the emphasis put on men but on the organization??
why was this?

ha i love it when they come to the door.
two dub females came to the door.
one of them seemed pretty intelligent and down to the earth.
Thanks for posting your story pr0ner :)
I love reading those type of 'experiences' at the doors.
Well handled, hopefully that younger sis will wake up in the future.
.........
When I left the JWs, I felt liberated, I didn't have to listen to long boring fairy tales of them having the truth and the long round about way they would use 67 scriptures to prove one point. Now I'm here on this forum and I see some JW type so much they might as well write a novel from one post. They can call it: "Millions of words now that never end (die)"
how about this one?
: "we are of all men most to be pitied.
" -1 cor.
I've got 2:
(Psalm 146:3) Do not put YOUR trust in nobles, Nor in the son of earthling man, to whom no salvation belongs.
(Jeremiah 5:31) The prophets themselves actually prophesy in falsehood; ... And my own people have loved [it] that way.
