Wow V665, what an awful life you had in this cult!

I feel for you man, I hope things have started to get better for you.

I wasn't a perfect angel. I just couldn't bring myself to confess my "secret sins" to any elder.

Tell me about it, never, never did I feel the need as well, it's none of their business what I felt, thought or did in my life. Now that I have left they have no dirt on me, feels great!

I started doing to the cong what they were doing to me. I avoided THEM. They tried calling, texting, emailing, knocking.

Thanks for telling us your story V665, it helps, especially as I'm new too. Hearing what others have gone through shows that it's not 'us' (as the problem) but this $hitty religion that has ruined us one way or another. Life is starting to get better for me, hope this has happened to you too V665.

In 1914 the Watchtower organized a trip to Jerusalem so that they would be first to experience the Rapture.

The photo below was taken from the top of the Mount of Olives, which overlooks Jerusalem. Why the Mount of Olives? The Mount of Olives is important due to the belief that when the Messiah arrives through the golden gate, then people who are buried (or situated) on the Mount of Olives will be 'First in line’.

I have avoided contact with the very few who tried to get me to come back to THEM & this Organisation.

I have not opened my door to them and I let them know 'point blank' no thank you, no problem with me so no need for your help. Obviously every case is different, do what you need to do. It's not easy at the start but believe me it DOES get better with time, the sooner you start the sooner this hell ends.

At the start I couldn't sleep, I use to get blood noses from the pressure I was feeling (never had blood noses before in my life) and I really felt like my world was spinning out of control. Now life is amazing and I will NEVER step foot in a KH again (apart from a wedding or funeral, even then I would feel like not going)

Take your time, don't rush anything, get your head right and in time things will be very clear.

so what silly things have you been counselled on or simply been told off for?.

back in my early 20's, i had a pair of comfy old jeans that started to tear in about 3 places on the leg.

it was the fashion at the time so not only did they feel great to wear, they also looked 'in', not that i cared for that, but it was a bonus .

Oh my!!! Yes! I totally forgot about Proctor & Gamble, what was it connected to?

What was the reason?

For the life of me I can't remember. . . funny thing is that it was my cousin (from the story above about Star Wars) that told me about Proctor & Gamble too. She was big in believing their crap.

... I got "council" on taking my 12 year old son to see "star wars, (revenge of the sith) because, i'm not making this up, it was rated PG 13.

That reminds me:

An elder in my cousins congregation brought up the point (from the platform) that we should not watch 'Star Wars' because it had 'spirits' in it. At the end of Return of the Jedi, you see 3 people that had died and were alive as spirits! (he was obviously talking about Obi-wan Vader and Yoda, see picture below )

Next time my cousin saw me, she said that we should not watch Start Wars because of what she heard from her Elder.

Coloured shirts on stage, yep sounds like most of us had that issue.

Well I had my very own 'Nazi Elder' in my congregation too, he would stop any of us brothers from giving talks with coloured shirts. This man made his own rules, then we got our new CO and he wore coloured shirts. Well well well ... what did 'Nazi Elder' do about this? He now started to wear coloured shirts himself. Stupid pig

hi everyone this is my first time to do any like send an email to strangers but from reading a lot of your comments i feel.

i can talk heres my history i joined the jws in the early 80s i was with them for about 4 yrs i was in centeral in dublin.

i left at about the time of john may and martin merryman and others although i couldnt fully accept thier rules when the split came it was easy for me to leave and now back to the present !
