Mary - he always felt guilty for not continuing his "studies" I guess, we made a major life change and they came by one day... guess he felt it was the right time to go back. Yeah it is extreme, and wierd and awkward.

the august km, has an article entitled, "you can witness informally!
" this week's service meeting will cover half of the 13 questions.
next week, congregations will finish the article along with a box full of several experiences with successful results from informal witnessing.
Oh yeah, my The Mr does these alot, particularly 3-6. I just want to put abag over my head when we're somewhere together and he does it. And maybe this is one example for the extreme social awkwardness I notice among your average witness.

This is the part the tee's me, a 'backslidden' Jehovah's Witness partakes in holiday celebrations with you and then that witness decides to go all into the religion again and he expects everything to change to suit him.
Don't mind me, this is just something that really irritates me about them.
OH yeah, you and me both, amongst the myriad of things that irritates me.
Their mom is not exactly in the picture, but still to a degree (phone calls, occ. visits). That's about all I will say at this point.

I guess it's less about the tolerance for his beliefs and more about not putting my stepkids in a place where they're going to be continually hounded. He's only been back in for 3 years. We used to celebrate holidays and birthdays and such, so it's hard for the kids to suddenly not have that. Harder still for them to be put in a position where they see something they'd like but cannot have.
At this point, with our daughter, we're basically splitting her time between our religions like a divorced couple would. I don't know, I figure it's practice for the future, honestly.

JWoods, oh so true. I'm also a Unitarian Universalist, which is also a CYOA Religion of sorts. BUt yes, this is really testing my concept of tolerance... really tesing it!
Hi Ziddina! Thanks for your introduction! I'm ok with the label Pagan, and anyway polytheist would be not exactly accurate for me. I believe the Divine is present in many/most things and is more than a composite of all that... so sort of polytheistic in wway, but not exactly. And yes, that belief is also strongly tested by JWness. Oh is it ever!

JWoods, I'm what I like to call an earth-based choose your own adventure Pagan. (CYOA Pagan). I do find the old mythologies interesting, but I don't tend to hearken back to "the old ways". I don't think it's wise to base current beliefs off everything people used to do. But even in old myths some truths can be found (in some you have to dig a little more than others). In my view, spirituality should evolve as human understanding has evolved.

Gary - yeah I walk on eggshells with the religion thing. It's not that I worry about stumbling him, it's that I have stepkids whom I'm not allowed to share my beliefs with. So for instance, my seasonal decorations do not happen, since they are not allowed to look at them, and I don't want to put them in a tough place.
ChrisJoel, I believe his perspective on my beliefs is that they are a Satanic diversion from The Truth TM . The reason he left before he would chalk up to "being worldy" rather than seeing evidence of how whacked they are. Yes, he loves their beliefs and is caught up with them hook, line and sinker. It absolutely is like living with a stranger. He is not the same person.

Really just seeing what I can see, I've heard there are both ex and current JW's around. I'll keep the warning label in mind! I guess I"m also looking to see if there are more UBMs out there, or even any locally.

Yeah, Gary it is wierd. Actually I spend alot of time keeping my beliefs underwraps which is wearing on me. He's been baptized for 2 years now.

Hello there. I'm just introducing myself before I get to know the site a little
I'm "Libelle," I'm a pagan married to a man who's now a JW. He was not this way when our relationship first started. He studied years before and then after we'd been together a number of years got back into it. As a matter of fact it was a catalyst for why we got hitched, officially. We have kids - several of his, and one together.
Needless to say, our household/family/relationship is rather complex, and well I constantly question the sense in staying in this relationship. I'm just looking around more sites to gather information.
