He might feel a little sheepish in the context like he has regrets. He is mending fences. The best thing to be is a good dad and a great grandpa. That makes my heart leap to hear your wonderful news. Best I have read all night!

My son contacted me... need advise
by Expanded-Mind in2010 will go on the record as a great year for me!
in november i heard from my youngest son (a jw), who i have not heard from in 8 years (i am an exjw).
hearing from him was wonderful enough, but he added to that joy by telling me he was married (to a non-jw) and i have a grandchild.

I do like Modern Family on Wed night on ABC. Food TV, and of course Bravo Housewives. Used to be addicted to Court Tv, but wow it is depressing. Love Shark Week too!!!

Elder wants to do "other activities" with me
by InterestedOne ini'm fully aware that this is a cult, and i was waiting for the social elements to kick in.
so far, i have just been doing the "bible study," discussing doctrine, etc.
however, recently one of the elders said he wants to get together with me to do other activities.

She must be very intriguing, and special for you to go this far to get her to yay or nay you....
Yes, you are right, either you have a connection to someone, go on some dates and see if you want to get into a relationship or not. I bet she likes the attention, and has hopes. I am positive of it. But her conscience won't let her go there.
I don't think you will get far with her. She seems too entrenched in it from how you describe her. How old is she if you don't mind me asking? She seems pretty young to be saying the PO is like her daddy...yuck. Most women in their 30's have more confidence and independence and can speak for themselves and be more logical.
I hope you meet someone nice soon, and can just have a friendship with this person. Good luck on your path!

"Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in."- Michael Corleone in Godfather III. Sorta reminds me of my life.
by miseryloveselders inmost of you recognize that line from the godfather iii, which wasn't the greatest film in my opinion, but that line was classic.
it perfectly depicts my life as it stands now.
i'm at a crossroads in life, and my heart is being tugged in different directions.

Looking forward to more Misery. I hope one day you can rename your account and be HappyMan or something like that. I think that you are not unique in your feelings. I have to believe that most JW's who are not little drones think as you and most of us do.
I came to the conclusion my own mother is apostate by JW definition because she scoffs at many teachings, and does not believe much of what is taught.
Keep thinking, slowly you will get to your place of peace, comfort, and to be your authentic self.

Do you think she has feelings for you? My guess is yes.
She is trying to be "good" and play by the rules. But remember, you are "worldly." A non JW. There are only JW's and everyone else. And if you do not become a JW, then you are as good as fish bait. So she probably does have the hots for you and would love to date you but you need to get baptized first, which could take a year, and then maybe another 6 months before you will be looked on good enough to date. You better be towing the mark at that point too.
I love a good love story, but this seems to not have a happy ending. I am sorry...

Misery, I have been thinkng of you....good to see you back my friend. I am anxious to read your crossroads.
Your story is very familiar. I think a lot of us were naughty when we were kids. If it makes you feel better, I was too. I had a fake ID and would go clubbing with other JW girls and boys. It was funny over the years seeing us all get married, some of us including myself pioneered, some are elders and MS. Some of the guys I had kissed, etc. YOU WERE NORMAL! The gang stuff, well, you were young and immature and looking for acceptance. So what, you were young and don't do that anymore.
No one needs to know. You stopped what you felt was wrong and it is over. I hope you do not feel guilty about stuff from the past.
Did you become an ubber brother as a sort of penance? To make up for your youthful indiscretions? Do you think that God views things that way? Take the knowledge you have now about the organization and balance it all out. I think I am jumping to conclusions now, so I will wait for the rest.

Lying about divorce reason to be allowed to re-marry
by Big Softie ini know my view on this but would be interested to see what anyone else thinks.. .
at a court hearing recently my estranged wife, who left me (i'm not jw) asked me if i would be prepared to lie to her elders and state that i had committed adultery (i didn't) so that she would be allowed to "get on in her faith".
this from a woman who before she left got intimate (emotionally, i'm not sure about physically) with two "sisters", one of whom took to buying her large bunches of red roses and basicaly furnished her new house for her.. now my view is that she has clearly stated and put in writing that the marriage ended because of my unreasonable behaviour (i.e.

If you are not married anymore, it is not adultery. I realize that the JW's have their hoops members need to jump through to be scripturally (aka elder approved) free to get married again. But those are not YOUR rules. Second, is your ex wanting to marry a man? You imply she had some kind of relationship with a woman?
Does she just want to date again? Do you think you will date now that you are divorced? Be prepared to get stalked if she is hell bent to get "free."
Personally it is no one elses business what I do with my love life, so they can go fly a kite. Why bend to her?

Introduction
by dontplaceliterature inbefore i begin my introductory post, i would like to mention that a number of my initial comments here may be viewed by several of you as watchtower apologist or as sympathetic to the views of the jehovahs witnesses.
the last thing i want to do is incite a flame war regarding my legitimacy or intentions in joining this forum.
mostly, i would describe myself as on the fence.

Welcome! I like your writing style and attitude. Nothing wrong with being curious, having some good discussion, and seeing the world through the eyes of others. I bet you find this site to bring up lots of emotions. Right now, I am guessing your life might be pretty good, you seem to imply that you are able to help others (kudos), and have an education, so I am thinking you have a job?
Many people find when they encounter really big dilemmas or problems they come to a crossroads. Perhaps in time you will be there. I look forward to seeing more of your posts!
