That must have been pretty awkward. How is your mom doing?

JW MIL having surgery - Elders there are the "blood nazis"
by Robert7 inso my jw mother-in-law is having some rather major abdominal surgery today.
given the type of surgery, there is a chance that the blood issue may come up, where in worst case if there's a loss of blood she may need a transfusion.. so in the waiting room for the entire 3 1/2 hour surgery are two elders.
these guys don't know my mil that well, and they are not there to support her... when it comes down to it:.

I also wish I could turn off my brain
by Newborn inthese days my thoughts are driving me nuts.
i need a break from my mind.. since i split up with bf i haven't eaten or slept well and all the thoughts running through my head, abt what went wrong, abt the future etc etc., that just won't leave me alone makes me so anxious.
how to turn off the brain?

Read Melissa Karnaze's page. Google her. She has some great articles on emotions, and how when we are having certain feelings, we should just embrace them, or rather live in them, because that is what we need to heal. So rather than withold necessary cycles of emotional ups and downs with life events, let them happen.
I sometimes just try to make the time pass by doing something I enjoy when I am upset. What do you like to do?

I don't think she will shun you. You were afterall "just" a study. I think she will just keep hoping that you come around. I don't think anyone thinks you were fishing from the company pond or anything, it is what it is, and now you know the real deal with them, consider yourself much more educated about another thing now! Hang in there, you sound like a reasonable guy.

My mom throws a not so subtle threat my way
by JWinprotest inmy fade is going well, but my mom knows full well what my thoughts are on the wts.
it seems that she feels comfortable just ignoring the situation in order to keep seeing her grandchildren.. the other day however we were talking about someone we know who is making it very difficult for her parents to see their grandchild.. then out of the blue, my mom turns in my direction and says, that if any of her kids try to deny her from seeing her grandchildren, she would take them to court and get a court order to force them to let her see them.. i know what the message was, and it was loud and clear.
she is letting me know that if i get disfellowshipped there's no way i can keep the kids away from her.

Bingo MrsJones! We have court order on that very clause.
Hopefully your mom is smart and keeps her mouth shut. I am so sorry you are going through this! I am so angry about how JW's condition their followers to be so inhumane!

Can You "Read" People?
by minimus inmisery wrote on a thread how those of us who were born into the jw religion were taught how to read people.
we learn how to look for their weaknesses, their joys, what seems to be troubling them, what their yard looks like, etc.. do you have this ability, in all honesty?
i am told that i have that ability and it freaks people out sometimes (in a good way).

One afterthought: An old memory came to mind, people used to say to me frequently when I was still an active JW, that they were so surprised I was a Jdub. That I did not fit the profile, or stereotype I guess.
So I think most of us have preconceived notions and try to read people regardless of intuition.

I have the type of personality to ask lots of questions, I tend to interview people while conversing, merely because I am curious and interested in people. I am also pretty observant and pay attention to certain things. You can tell alot from people about how their grooming is, and what they have around them.

Did you have a relationship with...
by stillin9 inwhen you were in the org, did you ever really have a relationship with jehovah?
if so, how did this relationship manifest itself?
was it just a warm fuzzy feeling when you prayed?

No, not really. I did as I was told and I have an active imagination. The concept of a god is very obtuse for me right now. I more or less feel like there is a certain energy about the universe. But, times when I revert to whatever is stuck in my head, I sometimes halfway in jest to myself say, God, if you are out there, throw me a bone please.....blah blah Kind of sad that I only do that when I need help with something.

Just playing the other side....maybe they are newly awakening, and they do not understand protocol, suspicion and mistrust on JW websites because the organization has proven to get into people's personal business to the extent of using mole's on websites?
I agree with PP though. Get them to tell you more about them so you can feel comfortable.

Tyrant of a wife!
by whatistruth inif i divulged just a few things she had done to me, you would never believe it.
i don't believe in this utter nonsense at all!
it is make belief brainwashing fear and guilt.

One more thing. Divorce is bleeping expensive! See if you can convince her to do mediation, if necessary arbitration. The back and forth will cost you thousands.

If I recall your situation correctly, you work with this JW lady and would like to date her, hence the reason that she is promoting the study before she will share a dinner with you? If I were you, I would feign the busy excuse, go back to your work relationship, and just be her friend. Give it time. Most on here have told you that she will not date you unless you become a JW. You do know that that is a life sentence to the constraints of this man made religion....you don't want that. Not even for a pretty girlfriend or trophy wife. Sorry if that sounds harsh, my heart goes out to you.
