What makes people ok with shunning?
by Butterflyleia85 init almost seems easy to some... or like a weird funny feeling like they are doing something wrong if they go against something inside of them and actually speak to marked (people they are told to shun) people.. (sorry to be bias in this but only exaggerate circumstances to make my point).
jehovah's witness for one are known to shun disfellowshipped members.. but also there is:.
popular kids at schools who shun unpopular kids at school.. rich people who ignore poor people.. some whites that are still racest shun black and vs.. some older proper/religious ones with high moral standards shunn or at least look down one the rebels.. ...seriously does it make life easier for them or something?.

Anyone here who was/is DF, were you ever grateful for the shunning because it forced you to go back to the org and you got your family by default of following the protocol on shunning and reinstatement, etc?

Is there a Logical explanation for the spooky things happening at my daughter, Ali's house?!?!!!!
by coffee_black inok.... looking for some logical explainations.... my daughter, ali, who i've been posting about on the forum...who has developed congestive heart failure.... has had some spooky experiences lately in her house.
here are a few of the things that happened:.
about a month ago, ali and her son david, heard noises from the attic above ali's bedroom...that sounded like something was being dragged across the attic floor.

One question occured to me and please dont take this the wrong way, it just needs clarification.
How can you have an attic in a bungalow that needs a ladder? A bungalow is similar to a cape cod style house and has one bedroom upstairs with shorter walls. The attics in bungalows are not accessible by ladders, rather the attics are in the side walls in the lowest pitches of the house.
I have lived in two bungalows and they both had attic access behind the closets. Perhaps that is not the architecture of the house, and is a colonial or a ranch which would have a pull down ladder for attic access?
I do believe in the paranormal. I think their energy is at a different level then human beings, and therefore do strange, unexplainable things.
One explaination might be for the dress is it was stuck to another item that she got out of the closet?

My Story
by Crank!!! inmy story starts off the same way a lot of yours did, i was born into the jw cult in 1986. my mother got kicked out of her house for studying with her older sister when she was 15. my dad was also born into the jw world.
my mom and dad got divorced when i was 5 (my mother had scriptual grounds) so she raised my younger sister, brother and i mostly by herself.
because of her beliefs she adamantly did not want us having any worldly influences, so she chose to home school all of us.

How often do disassociated people go back to the organization?
by SEL ina friend disassociated in order to get divorced, hoping not to get disfellowshipped.
some time later, he has a serious non-jw girlfriend whom he'll probably end up marrying.
the thing is, he didn't disassociate because he no longer believed the wt doctrines.

i remember reading a while back about someone on here ( i think) that wrote a letter to the body of elders & headoffice that they should not take any action to disfellowship them as they would be distancing them from friends and relatives and would proceed to take legal action if the body of elders went ahead.. if anyone has that link or can point me in the right direction i'd appreciate that..
