Jhine,
Evidently, the WT considers the instructions for being a good husband to boil down to "be a good organization man."

I think you are wise at this point not to ask about the religion.
If he has left, he will probably tell you what happened in his own good time.

Sparlock Toy
by NotFormer ini wasn't around when the sparlock thing hit about 11 years ago, but it became such a meme that that debacle still gets mentioned from time to time.
one thing that came up in conversations of the time was about how dumb the name was; that someone in bethel could have come up with a less lame name.
i think that that bethelite was trying to be clever by using "warlock" as the stem and dropping the "w".

I assumed it had something to do with its similarity to "Spock."

I also noticed that the announcement talked in terms of JWs no longer being "asked" to report their hours of field service.
Maybe that just means the elders will be "expected" to offer each publisher more "encouragement."

You might be a JW if you...
by Ron.W. inthis is a little out of date.

You are puzzled when someone talks about a recent teaching as "new light" because you no longer remember the organization ever teaching anything else.

I loved the video comment to the effect of "we mustn't be dogmatic."
Since when?

Did Anyone Have Fun With Their Field Service Reports?
by NotFormer innow that there is new light on reporting hours in field service, it's raised a few questions for me, who was never in the jws.
did any of you ever have fun with the field service report slips, by finding creative ways of reporting time without raising suspicions in those who oversaw the collection of those slips?.
also, can anyone upload an image of what the slips looked like, or point me to a post that gives uploaded examples of the sort of paperwork that was familiar to jws in good standing?.

Now, we all know that JWs eagerly desire to serve Jehovah by going door to door their whole lives.
That's one of the key things that distinguishes them from the do nothings of Christendom.
At least that's what my study conductor told me.
I actually believed him.

CIVILIAN SERVICE
by blondie inhow many remember when the wts changed their policy on alternative service; changed it to alternative civilian service so jw men could choose it because it was not supervised by the military.
shows how the wts quibbles with words to advance a "new teaching.
" flag salute, voting, civilian service p. 212. civilian service.

Think of all the JWs who went to prison needlessly because their "brothers" at headquarters decided they had to.

Thought on “0 hours” reporting
by FFGhost inso everyone knows the “big news” of this past weekend, no more reporting of hours, placements, return visits, etc.
beginning november 1, jws just tick a box indicating whether they “shared in any form of the ministry during the month”.. so there was a brief comment by a redditor that seems like a brief joke “throwaway comment” but after thinking about it….why not?.
the idea is, what is “any form of the ministry”?

Counting time meant that the goal was putting in the time, not actually accomplishing anything.
A good example of that is all the cart sitting that has gone on.
Hours and hours without even trying to engage anyone in conversation.
If someone actually asks a question, they just refer them to the website.
