To the girl I would say, "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to upset you or cause you pain. Please forgive me."
To your friend whose son died, go ahead and mention that you knew his son years ago. If he is upset or distraught, say something similar.
completely unrelated to the wts.. i have a co worker who i use to hang out with his son in high school.
he doesn’t remember me.
that was 30 years ago.

all the big changes for jws since this last fall brought me back to this site, and got me and the wife talking.
just how many things were we not allowed to do growing up as jehovah's witnesses?
we were so used to all the rules, customs, and traditions, that we became used to them.. one site i found claims there are 141 unique rules!!
Not only is there a voluminous list of rules, but you are never sure you are following them well enough.
everybody plays the fool.
lyrics.
'okay, so your heart is brokenyou sit around mopin'cryin' and cryin'you say you're even thinkin' about dyin'well, before you do anything rash, dig this.
Well said, LongHairGal.
They had Armageddon as their retirement plan.
No backup plan.
the latest study edition mentions hypothetical scenarios of jws who are no longer serving at bethel or no longer elders, etc.
and says we shouldn't speculate, as defaming them could border on slander.. we could unintentionally defame someone by spreading negative information.
..... would it be proper to speculate on the reasons why these adjustments were made and to share that opinion with others?.
"Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain. The great and powerful Oz has spoken!"
the changing teachings of jehovah's witnesses .
menacingmistral writes:.
"jehovah's witnesses often, not only change 180° from what they used to teach, they change from things they vehemently asserted were absolute truth.
How Splane could have given that overlapping generations talk with a straight face is beyond me...
one theory why tony was booted out was because he was a stickler for not changing the shunning doctrine.
he actually said the words we will never ever change it.. they are slowly deleting all of tony’s videos and now losing court cases and losing government hand outs in places like norway.. it’s looking very likely they will release new light on shunning policy after losing this latest one in norway.. .
what are the odds they coincidentally get new light from jehovah and lighten up their shunning policy ?.
I agree with LongHairGal.
The Watchtower can reject you, but don't you dare reject them!
i am sure we were all shocked at the governing body update #2 with the unusual and impulsive changes set forth.. i am an insider at whq, and when i was on reddit and in communication with avoidjw i explained to the best of my ability that the approach on disfellowshipping was going to change based on the new light at the 2023 agm, that the jubilee rumor was false, and there were going to be changes on how jws approached disfellowshipping in response to the norway situation if it didn't turn out in watchtower's favor.
the decision came because of a legal blow to watchtower, not because "holy spirit" wad directing a faithful slave, who is going to become the "evil slave", more explanation on this soon.. everything i stated came true.
i left reddit exjw community due to the immature and mentally unstable nature there, and yet as has been the case my words came true.
So until 2012 the faithful and discreet slave was wrong about who the faithful and discreet slave is.
But JWs must follow the directives of the faithful and discreet slave--whoever that is--in order to survive Armageddon.
What happens to JWs who followed the directives of the wrong faithful and discreet slave?
you heard me correct, this is not a joke, and it is not april fools day!
the asl portion of the governing body updated #2 (march 2024) has been released a bit early and someone caught it.
summary: .
Imagine still being dependent on a group of men in New York to micromanage your life like this.
we still have quite a few elderly here that came in as young families in the late 1960's-early 70's because soon, yes very soon they would enter the new system and never grow old.
it's now one year away from 50 years since 1975. just in the last couple years i've seen them come down with alzheimer's, cancer, brain tumors, becoming invalid etc.
the children of them that are now around 60 are just so distraught at seeing their parents deteriorate.
In 1976, I was amazed when an elder told me to stop focusing on 1975.
For years before that, 1975 was all he did focus on.
this is not a verse that i’ve seen feature heavily in trinitarian debates but it seems to me it presents a problem for the trinity.
if there are any around i’d be interested to know your perspective, or anything you can find on the meaning and how it doesn’t contradict the trinity.
the verse says:.
The trinity doctrine does not say that the Father and Son are the same person.
That's a teaching called modalism.
