They could just as well have said, God's spirit-directed Christian congregation (which has an organizational structure, "let all things be done decently and in order")

I did ask, "Why did Peter not mention the Father?" Here are his words again, "..., Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost." (Acts 2:38) He does not even say in the name of the Father or Holy Ghost, just the name of Jesus Christ, though he does mention the Holy Ghost, he does not mention the Father. Please read my post again. How does the name of Jesus Christ consist of an agreement with the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost? How did Peter obey this command without mentioning the Father? cameo-d, I'd like to hear your answer also, you sound like a Jehovah's witness by your post.
"God's spirit-directed organization", not just an organization, an organized group of people, but "God's spirit-directed" organization. How is this an omission of God's spirit, the Holy Spirit?

Ok, let's see, "in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost." How did Peter obey this command when he said, "..., Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. (Acts 2:38)?
Where is the name of the Father, why is he not mentioned, And what is the name of the Holy Ghost? How does the name of Jesus Christ cover all three? Peter said to baptize in the name of Jesus Christ!!! When a dedication is made by a Jehovah's witness, is the name of Jesus Christ mentioned?

Even in the first post no one really answered the original question, "What is the true gospel (good news) message? The person who started this thread said much but said nothing. There is actually much to be discussed, who would like to start?

Like we'll ever settle this once and for all, but here goes; ARE YOU A TRUE CHRISTIAN?
by nicolaou inthe watchtower says; "there is an enormous distinction between true christianity and the religion practiced by those who are christians in name only" - wt 1st october 2009. now, in the light of all the current controversy over the word 'atheist' and what it means can you see how irritating it is to have your frame of reference, be it a religious belief system or something else, redefined by others?
and usually it is redefined by those who have something to gain by the linguistic manipulation.. for the watchtower the gain is easy to see but what about the attempt by many believers to define atheism as a belief system?
could it be that equating rational atheism with belief is nothing more than an attempt to legitimize faith?.

A Jehovah's witness I know, when I had asked, "How does a person know they are a Christian?" answered something like, "You know you are a Christian when you are following closely in the footsteps of Jesus." Of course, in his mind, a lot more goes along with what he would define as a footstep follower of Jesus. Even so, I think that is the best answer he could have given.
2Cor 13:5-9 KJV
5 Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?
6 But I trust that ye shall know that we are not reprobates.
7 ¶ Now I pray to God that ye do no evil; not that we should appear approved, but that ye should do that which is honest, though we be as reprobates.
8 For we can do nothing against the truth, but for the truth.
9 For we are glad, when we are weak, and ye are strong: and this also we wish, even your perfection.2Cor 13:5-9 BBE
5 Make a test of yourselves, if you are in the faith; make certain of yourselves. Or are you not conscious in yourselves that Jesus Christ is in you, if you are truly Christ’s?
6 But it is my hope that you will have no doubt that we are truly Christ’s.
7 ¶ Now our prayer to God is that you may do no evil; not in order that it may be put to our credit, but so that you may do what is right, whatever we may seem.
8 Because we are able to do nothing against what is true, but only for it.
9 For we are glad when we are feeble and you are strong: and this is our prayer, even that you may be made complete. It looks to me that being a Christian involves a personal examination, or testing, marked by doing what is right, that is, doing no evil.
Ro 13:8 Be in debt for nothing, but to have love for one another: for he who has love for his neighbour has kept all the law.
Now no one is pefect, and who loves all the time, every moment of the day? Most days I don't feel right, perhaps a part of my illness, I do not feel like a Christian, I'm not so sure I'd say I am one, but here are a couple of verses to ponder from the bible that I found.

Livingbreeze: Don't think your words are falling on deaf ears, I am listening, however, I stilll find that God described death to us in Genesis, we return to the ground, just like the first man did, after that there is no hope for life except the resurrection, to be raised fom the dead.
My reply: The body goes to the ground. The spirit returns to God, the soul has one of two ultimate destinations.
Livingbreeze: Where is the just balance, since no man has the power to cause never ending torment, then how can neverending torment be God's judgement?
My reply: In Matthew Jesus says to fear not man who can kill the body but fear him who can destroy both the body and soul in Gehenna. Man can torture within limits, God does not have such limits.
I would still ask, what does Gehenna represent? Does it represent neverending torment or does it represent complete annialation from which there no longer remains a hope of being resurrected to concious life again? Again, God referred to Adam as dust, "dust you are and to the dust you shall return." I honestly believe that life refers to our concious awareness of our own existence, and that death refers to no awareness at all. Man has no more power over the life or soul of a person once they are dead, man cannot bring a person back to life once they are dead. Only God has the power, the power he gave his Son, to resurrect a person's soul, that is, to return them to life and conciousness. I believe our mortality refers to our complete being, we are mortal, we are not both mortal and immortal at the same time.

My reply: Wrong like usual. We understand the meaning of the term son, as to what it meant in the Jewish culture at the time the words were penned. You really do have a lot to learn.
If there is some other meaning of son that was understood by the Jewish culture at that time, I'd be interested in learning about it. I am unaware of any other meaning other than being the son of a father who is the source of the son's life.
Don't think your words are falling on deaf ears, I am listening, however, I stilll find that God described death to us in Genesis, we return to the ground, just like the first man did, after that there is no hope for life except the resurrection, to be raised fom the dead.

I'd have to say that I've never really been close enough to the personal lives of JWs to know whether they really love one another or not, I guess that puts me in quite a position, doesn't it?
I do find it troublesome when I've seen a huge list from some person telling people of all the denominations to avoid, should it be so hard to find a so-called good, biblical church? The resident JW here seems to be in the same position I am, since I am not so confident to say that they have the "faithful and discreet slave" in their midst.
I would rather have a simple faith, believing in and trusting God's gift of life through the forgiveness of sins by the shed blood of his son. As to how I would go about obeying his command to "go into all the nations..." I don't know. I honestly wish God's word was easier to understand, then I wouldn't be asking anyone to explain it. I have prayed many times over, so I do ask for direction from God.
Who really knows what is going to happen, we only know that something is going to happen in this tme of the end? We only know there's a beast, a false prophet, Satan and his demons, and all those fllowing that path, and, there is God, his Son, the angels, and all those following that path, why the lines are so blurred, I don't know.

If Christendom were to get rid of their neverending torment doctrine (as if such a torment ever entered God's mind), their trinity doctrine, their teaching that seems to exclude the earth as our eternal home, their involvement with the political governments of this wicked system, their call to arms when war breaks out, and such things like these, I might consider attending a church to be incited to love and good works.
Peter's words about who Jesus was were, "You are the Christ (God's annointed one), the Son of the living God." Against that belief, and following that one, the gates of hell will not prevail. Jesus is nothing more or less than the Christ, the Son of God, whom God has made both Lord and Christ.
The wages sin pays is death, not neverending torment. God balances the scales of justice. It is far beyond my power to torment someone for ever and ever, why then, should I be found without faith accompanied by works which follow faith, should I be tormented for ever and ever? No one can torment another for ever and ever, so no one should be tormented for ever and ever.
What excuse will individuals within Christendom have when they are found mistaken about interpretations of end time prophecy, taught others these mistakes, and not made adjustments and retractions when more is learned?
If there are no real Jehovah's witnesses here to defend the truth of God's word, at least I am trying, you should be ashamed of yourselves not to teach about the true God and his Son, Jesus Christ. Which brings me to another thing, I do wonder who set up this site, its title says it is a site for Jehovah's witnesses, so far the only one I have found, it would seem, calls himself theMadJW.
theMadJW, such a name seems to be a contradiction of terms.
To the trinitarian, God never really had a Son, because their Jesus always had life. Father, by definition is the source of life and existence, since Jehovah is the Father, he is the source of his Son's life, his existence. So really, who believes that Jesus truly is the Son of God?
