Mr. coffee was a nutcase! He condemned the WT for serving coffee -that most sinful of drinks! I remember he had a friend-Teapot!

A bethelite told me a mobster offered to put "a hit on him" because they did'nt like him either! The brothers strongly turned down the offer.

I used to enjoy visiting Bethel- I loved the Printing operation, well everything there except boring depts like sheet-metal shop Etc.

I hated the ones like mr. coffee and Yawah's restored Israel and jeremiah their leader! If something bad happened to them-good!

Does anyone else remember Jeremiah and mr. coffee? What nut cases they were!

Finally dared to register

finally i registered today.

being a lurker for quite some months, i convinced myself it is time to give my own 2 pence from time to time.

i am living in europe and i am still 'in', although by now i must be counted as an inactive jw.

a few days ago my door bell rang.

when i answered it there were two sruffy looking men there both of them in their 60's/70's i would say.. one of them with a huge belly said to me " hello, we are going around the community today gadging peoples views from all nationalites, because we feel thats very important to do in this area as we have cypriot, russian and british like yourself...".

i interupted there and said " sorry, who are you?".

could someone refer me to some wt articles explaining that all non-wt information sources are controlled by satan?

i've read that they think this, and it fits with their us & them mentality, but i would like to see it in writing..

I remember something in a KM discouraging witnesses from doing research in non-witness reference books.

Does anyone rember this? I don't remember what issue it was in.

As a JW, what did you do on Christmas Day?

growing up a jw, we always had family from out of town visit or we would go visit family.

it was fun to get together with my other jw cousins over christmas.

(however, it was hell going back to school in january as the only girl without a new sweater).. as a married jw though it was a different story.

My family are Jewish so nothing special happens on Christmas. (I feel jealous of all of you that have a wonderful holiday with the tree, presents, decorations, food and visits from friends and family).

As a witness I usually went out in FS Christmas morning. Then, not much, just stayed home.

on another thread, i wondered whether there was an objective way to determine the effect that the internet is having on new people being attracted into the watchtower.

i get the general impression that, while we can certainly know that the internet has been crucial in quite a few people leaving, or never joining, there is no statistics that would tell us something like "millions now living didn't join because of what they read on a website".. that's for background.

now i would like to see the question the other way around.

@garyneal- yes, I think too that if the householder did not buy something like what I said in my post above, the witnesses would consider that householder "a waste of time" and quickly leave. Householders have to ask the "right" questions or the witnesses will not continue to speak with them.

My brother does not care about what was written in the past. He says that Jehovah's celestial chariot is always moving forward and we have to keep moving forward with it. We should focus on current understandings of the truth and not waste time with or worry about what was written in the past because we are blessed to have more light and understanding now. We must always move ahead, never look back.

Frustrating isn't it?

Most witnesses must feel the same way. They have to keep up with current truth, not waste time doing research on the past.

I would not have known of that Awake! article. I guess witnesses would say something about how they were on the watch as Jesus said they should be and were understandably over eager for the end of this system to come. And of course, Jehovah grants his faithful servents who keep on the watch with increased light over time so now they have a better understanding of the generation Jesus spoke of! And witnesses are the only ones keeping on the watch!

Of course, unless you had an actual copy of that Awake! to show me ( in which case something like the above would get said!) I would say you made the article up or changed it in some way and that it never said that! I'd want to see the actual issue. I'm sure this is how my brother would respond to this situation too.

How would anyone else have responded to this?

As far as telling your study not to do research on witnesses on the internet-yes, that would seem suspicious. I'd show scriptures about how Jesus said his true followers would be lied about and spoken against just as the first century christians were. So the student should realize there are "uninformed" people on the internet and that to find out the real truth about witnesses they need to read the WT literature.

i'm new here, this is my first post.

have been reading so many comments from you guys over the past few months and now i can finally comment too!.

it is amazing how long it took me to see that jw's are not god's organization and that their teachings do not really find support in the bible.. now i'm not really sure what i believe.

Hi 3Mozzies! I'm sorry that your 2 friends are proving themselves to be false ones. It's a shame- people who told us they are our brothers and sisters who really care about us and love us and who would die for us just dump us completely once we stop attending meetings! I'm sorry you were ignored in your congregation too. Just further proof that we did not lose any friends by giving up meetings.

Hi RosePetal! Thank you very much! Yes, I was negleted and ignored, left out very often, and in 3 different congregations! I guess there is anti-semitism in the KH. Yes, There are kind people on this forum and it is good to know there are so many others who have had to deal with the lack of real love in the congregations. We can all encourage each other and we understand what each other have gone through!

I feel bad for you -you were born into the JW religion and missed out on the fun and holidays other children got to share in. And of course, as we all found out, the promised paradise earth never came.

Interesting observation?

in the february watchtower a word search to the pdf found only two references to "faithful and discreet slave" and zero yes zero to governing body.. not sayin much effort is required to find lottsa goofy stuff, but just surprised.

they must be reading and diseminating this web site..

JW's believe Jesus gave all of his authority to the F&DS and put it over all of his belongings! So the F&DS is in full control- GB that is!
