They better pray that their flight not be in winter or on a Sabbath day. Everyone knows planes don't fly to Australia or New Zealand in winter or on Sabbath days.

The WT brings up the theme of fleeing
by Kosonen inhttps://www.jw.org/en/library/magazines/watchtower-study-january-2022/those-seeking-jehovah-will-lack-nothing-good/.
this article explains what a modern time application to fleeing might involve in the prophecy jesus told about the last days.. that is a timely reminder.
i think it will become soon possible to flee to australia from the mark of the beast.

Isn’t JW’s teaching of “the abomination that causes desolation” wrong?
by Abraham1 inwhat “the abomination that causes desolation” mentioned in mathew 24:15 means could be understood only by close followers of jesus because it was part of his personal discussion with them.
by stopping to greet those whom they consider as “their enemies” jws are identifying themselves as “pagans,” according to jesus.
(mathew 5:43-48) thus they cannot correctly understand what the abomination that causes desolation” that would appear as part of signs of “last days.”.

Anything can be an idol.
But as Christians we, like Paul should honestly say
14 But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world. Gal.6:14

The cross may be an abomination to JWs, but not to God.

The abomination of desolation is a code word for the Roman armies that desolated Jerusalem.and its temple.
Compare Matthew with Mark
15¶When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)16Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains: Matthew 24:15-1620¶And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh.21Then let them which are in Judaea flee to the mountains; Luke 21:20-21This in fulfillment of Daniel chapter 926And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.27And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate. -

The "Trinity" is not Biblical.
by Revealed insimple.. you cannot find the word there (or many of the comical variations such as: a triune godhead, the triunity, co-equal god beings, godhead, a hypostaic union, divine essences, divine natures, a god-the-son, a god-the-ghost, hypostasis, homoousios, perichoresis , a godman, omnipresence, incarnation, a god who is a sacred mystery, a god 'in three persons', dual natures, a reincarnate god, a first person of the trinity, a second person of the trinity, a third person of the trinity, godness, a tri-unity or a multipersonal god), or any of the so-mentioned aspects.. jehovah identified himself (not 'themselves") as on one god, as did jesus and all the prophets.

Well to be fair EverApostate, I don't consider Velma's healing or Ginny's healing trivial. And I am thankful for my son Sean's healing, although it may seem minor, he owned and ran a gym at the time, so after months of excruciating knee pain, I was and am grateful for smaller mercies.

Watchtower Disparages the Bible
by Vanderhoven7 ini'm looking for wts quotations that contrast with ii timothy 3:15-16 whereby they downplay scripture.. here is one from way back..
"...people cannot see the divine plan in studying the bible by itself...if he then lays them [scripture studies] aside and ignores them and goes to the bible alone, though he has understood his bible for ten years, our experience shows that within two years he goes into darkness.
on the other hand, if he had merely read the scripture studies with their references, and had not read a page of the bible, as such, he would be in the light at the end of the two years, because he would have the light of the scriptures," (watchtower, sept. 15, 1910, p. 298).

@EverApostate,
Ginny, the other teacher, was healed after being scheduled for an operation. She prayed that if God would heal her she would work with disabled children for the rest of her life and she did all her career. Velma who passed away in her 80s was healed as a child at an Aimee Semple McPherson meeting.
My son Sean was healed instantaneously of a serious knee injury caused be an intentional body blow to the knee. He was left limping and often in pain as a result. We were sitting in church one afternoon and he told me his knee was killing him. Right about then, the evangelist preaching started calling out physical problems people were experiencing and telling them to stand and be healed. I prayed silently,"Lord if you are talking to the preacher will you tell him about Sean's knee." Within seconds, He called out, "There is someone in the room with a right knee injury, come forward and be healed". Sean was healed in his seat and he knew it. As he went forward, the evangelist said, "God is going to heal you!" to which Sean responded, "He already has."
My daughter, Rebecca injured her back and could not take gym classes as a result. I invited my friend, Lawrence over for supper,( a guy you can catch on YouTube who likes to debate Atheists btw) As we were eating Rebecca told him about her back issue. He told her that after supper God would heal her. Later, he asked her to lie on our sofa and asked me to lay my hand on her back. He simple said, "Jesus would you heal Rebecca's back" She was healed instantly and began taking gym classes at school. Days later, I asked him how he knew that Rebecca would be healed and he told me that on the way driving to our house, God gave him a vision of a back being healed.
It is interesting that in the gospels, Jesus healed everyone who came to him for healing. I think we should be seeing more healing of body and soul than we see happening today in the church.

Hi EverApostate,
No, i never was a JW. I attend a non-denominational assembly. My son Sean is one of the pastors. We pray for every church where the Bible is preached.
I have no idea why you did not get a response to prayers. All I know is that God speaks. I have heard from the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
I know two people who were healed of serious medical conditions, one of cancer and one (Velma) of cerebral palsy. Velma was quadriplegic, couldn't walk, stand sit or talk. Her father was an Atheist as a result. Her sisters took her to a faith healer and she came home walking and talking. Her dad became a Christian as a result. Both of these ladies were teaching colleagues of mine.
So yes, I believe God still heals today and that there is healing provided in the atonement.
