If he is disfellowshipped then he us no longer a brother but in the world according to the organization. So you can treat him like Jesus treated publicans and sinners with whom he ate. Yes, the Watchtower will disfellowship you...but without scriptural support.

If so, who do you believe will survive the destruction? For example, do you believe only faithful Jehovah's Witnesses have that scriptural hope?

And what do you envision will happen to those who die before the tribulation starts?

This is the message Jehovah’s Witnesses are supposed to be warning you about. This is the message Jehovah’s Witnesses claim you’re rejecting.
But most people are unaware that Jehovah’s Witnesses actually believe this, because they aren't “warning you about this” at all.
They don't tell you this message straight up. Instead they ask you some generic question about Jesus or the bible in general. Because if they told you all of this at the door you'd likely think it's a mad cult or something.

that the reason the Watchtower will not reveal the names of the translators is not due to their humility, but because researchers would realize that none of the bunch had any training in Hebrew or Greek to speak of.
