Miniimizing 'Punishment' - marrying a non-JW

i’d like to marry my best friend of 30+ years, turned ‘secret’ girlfriend of 1 ½ years who is a jehovah’s witness, born into it, baptized and an active ‘pioneer’.

our marriage would happen prior to letting any of her jw friends and cohorts know that we are together.

once married she may simply come forward and ‘admit’ or we may wait until it’s found out – one way or the other, the reason for this marriage is not customary – i am hoping that by doing so she can avoid being ‘marked’ or possibly ‘disfellowshipped’ once our relationship is no longer a secret and due to our already being married at that point, there can be no notion from society elders about her ending the relationship.

On her current course, your girlfriend will end up being effectively shunned by her congregation whether she is disfellowshipped or not. Besides that, right now, according to her religion, she is a candidate for destruction at Armageddon. If she marries you on the sly and lies (fools the elders) about the ongoing intimacy prior to marriage, she will still be a candidate for destruction at Watchtower Armageddon.

There is no way to win in this...unless she is willing to give up her religion which at this point will not save her anyway...and disassociate herself by letter from the religion. Then she can freely marry you. If the elders want to know why she is disassociating, she can say for private reasons...and it's no longer their business anyway.

As a non-JW she will be shunned as an apostate...but then who cares.

If she is not willing to give up her religion, your best bet is to terminate your relationship for her sake. You might want to encourage her to do some independent research into what I see as a controlling and unbiblical cult.

It might be strategic to make the memorial coincide with the first in-person meeting at kingdom halls. This would assure an unusually large gathering and give the appearance that all is well with the org. Or have the halls opened already?

As a born again Christian, I once helped a young married man realize that the religion of Jehovah's Witnesses was not the truth. I gave him a copy of "Crisis of Conscience" and he quit attending the religion. His pimi wife however was devastated because of his doubts and disbelief.

He wanted to deconvert her as quickly as possible. I cautioned him to go slow. Arguments ensued and before long they were enemies. He finally convinced her of ttatt but that led to her leaving the religion....and him and running off with another man.

In his despair he ended up going back to the religion for support. I bumped into him a while back and he wouldn't even acknowledge my presence.

My point as well is: proceed with caution my friend.

administering a blood transfusion when directed by a superior - jehovah's witness policy effective june 15th, 2018. while the hospital liasion committee elders were instructed that they may inform doctors and nurses of this decision, this letter was not allowed to be distributed to anyone outside of hlc members.. as a result of the concealment of this letter, and by virtue of the fact that this information was only to be shared verbally with jehovah's witness medical professionals and others, confusion erupted across the united states and in other branch offices of jehovah's witnesses.

countless letters were received at watchtower headquarters in new york from concerned jw nurses, paramedics, and others who were instructed verbally on this new policy, but which contradicted existing written policy that had been in effect for many decades.. in addition to letters from witness medical professionals, circuit overseers in the field wrote to the us branch and hospital information desk in new york about the problems caused by this unreleased policy.

for example, south carolina circuit overseer brandon roberts reported to headquarters that "the majority of the nurses in our circuit were not aware of this updated policy.

Years ago, the Watchtower was seeking official recognition in Bulgaria. The Bulgarian authorities were however troubled by the fact that Witnesses would disfellowship (excommunicate and shun) people for accepting blood transfusions.

No problem! One day the Bulgarian authorities received word that Watchtower had changed its policy. No longer would anyone be disfellowshipped for accepting blood. Hurray! And so the religion gained official recognition in Bulgaria.

It was just an unworthy play on words! The Watchtower Governing Body simply decided that if someone unrepentantly accepts blood, that one would henceforth be considered as having disassociated him- or herself from the faith.

Exactly the same words are read to the congregation: “So-and-so is no longer one of Jehovah’s Witnesses”, which, of course, results in exactly the same treatment: shunning.

It is one of the tactics Watchtower has used that can only severely undermine one’s respect for the basic integrity of this religion. The Bulgarian authorities were essentially duped into giving them official recognition, by a “change of policy” that was, as noted, mere wordplay.”

Isn’t JW’s teaching of “the abomination that causes desolation” wrong?

what “the abomination that causes desolation” mentioned in mathew 24:15 means could be understood only by close followers of jesus because it was part of his personal discussion with them.

by stopping to greet those whom they consider as “their enemies” jws are identifying themselves as “pagans,” according to jesus.

(mathew 5:43-48) thus they cannot correctly understand what the abomination that causes desolation” that would appear as part of signs of “last days.”.

Context is important to understanding the tribulation and the abomination which makes Jerusalem desolate.

The Sign to Flee Jerusalem’s Destruction:
18 “When therefore you see the abomination of desolation, which was spoken of through Daniel the prophet, standing where it ought not in the holy place (let him who reads understand), that is to say, when you see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that her desolation is at hand.”
19 “Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains, let him who is on the housetop not go down to take out things that are in his house, and let him who is in the field (countryside) not return back to take his cloak.”
20 “For these are days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled.”
21 “But woe to those who are with child and to those who are breast feeding in those days!”
22 And pray that your flight be not in the winter, neither on a Sabbath,”
23 “For then will be great tribulation, such as has not been from the beginning of the creation which God created, until now, no, nor ever shall be, for there will be great distress on the land, and wrath to this people.”

This is not about world judgment, but the judgment on the land and people of Israel who rejected the Messiah. This was the judgment Jesus wept over that would affect Judea and Jerusalem after which the surviving Jews would be taken captive and shipped off to foreign nations as slaves.

Luk 21:24 And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.
