The Gospel According to Jehovah's Witnesses
by Vanderhoven7 inmark jones explains the watchtower gospel much better than i can.. "the good news that christians in the first century preached was the birth, death and resurrection of jesus christ; that all those who believed in him were saved and reconciled to god through the death of his son.. unfortunately jehovah’s witnesses) have been led to believe it is something bizarrely different.
the good news according to the watchtower society is as follows:.

Myth of 1914
by peacefulpete inthe wt engages in history revisionism when insisting the world changed overnight in 1914. in fact the european power struggles that came to a head were centuries old.
millions of lives had been lost in the wars of the 19th century, with the world a powder keg the years prior to the assassination of franz ferdinand in june 1914 which is often said, albeit rather arbitrarily, as the start of the war that escalated over the next 4 years into the great war.
take a look at these two pages and ask if the wt's interpretation of history seems accurate to you.

Fisherman
It's quite simple.
There are no dates in the Bible.
Therefore 1914 is not biblical.
1914 is based by a series of eisegetical assumptions. Consequently making 1914 or any unbiblical date a requirement for salvation or for Christian baptism is illegitimate.

Mark Jones explains the Watchtower gospel much better than I can.
"The good news that Christians in the first century preached was the birth, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ; that all those who believed in him were saved and reconciled to God through the death of his son.
Unfortunately Jehovah’s Witnesses) have been led to believe it is something bizarrely different. The good news according to the Watchtower Society is as follows:
The THE GOOD NEWS (according to Jehovah’s Witnesses)
"The gospel or good news is not a simple idea that can be expressed in one sentence.”
Michael the archangel came to earth as a Jehovah’s Witness called “Jesus” and died on a pole so that their governing body and 143,992 other specially chosen Jehovah’s Witnesses can go to heaven. 1.
3 days later, Michael (aka Jesus) was reincarnated as a hologram who looked completely different to the original Michael (aka Jesus) 2
Then for a long time he did nothing until 1919 when he chose the Watchtower society publishing company to be his channel of communication on earth. 3 He fed false information to the Watchtower leaders over the decades “as a cleansing” to sift out “those serving a date”. This is known as “new light”. 4
Since 1914 Michael (aka Jesus) has been sitting on the edge of his throne waiting for the day when Jehovah (his dad) tells him and the 144,000 Jehovah’s Witnesses in heaven (who are now kings up there by the way ruling over the earth) to slaughter everyone who didn't become a Jehovah’s Witness - men, women, children, babies, the disabled… you know, like a holocaust?
"Only Jehovah's Witnesses, those of the anointed remnant and the "great crowd," as a united organization under the protection of the Supreme Organizer, have any Scriptural hope of surviving the impending end of this doomed system dominated by Satan the Devil." - Watchtower 1989 Sep 1 p.19
Just as Noah and his God-fearing family were preserved in the ark, survival of individuals today depends on their faith and their loyal association with the earthly part of Jehovah's universal organization." - Watchtower 2006 May 15 p.22 "
And the only way to survive all of this is to obey the 8 leaders currently living in New York on Jehovah’s Witness donations writing ever changing doctrine about the end of the world. Because this “good news” also includes the teaching that Michael (aka Jesus) will also slaughter Jehovah’s Witnesses who didn't obey the 8 governing body member’s every word or those who didn't go out door knocking when they were suffering from cancer or infirm.
One of their more unlikable governing body members ranting about the slaughter or non members… and actual members who don't obey him enough. The good news includes that the United Nations is going to ban religion and hunt down Jehovah’s Witnesses. Every other religion will go “Huh, ok” and go with it. The pope will hang up his hat, ISIS will put down their weapons and Christians will just stop worshiping their god. Why? Because the UN told them to.
Then, Michael will swoop down to earth as an old man holding a scepter along with some angels (who are the reincarnated governing body) and slaughter everybody who isn't a Jehovah’s Witness. The police will try to shoot Michael but the bullets will pass right through him.
After this Jehovah (Michael’s dad) will get the birds to eat the rotting corpses of non-Jehovah’s Witnesses while the survivors dismantle all of the buildings (by hand) and live in a socialist utopia where everyone lives in a tree house, owns an exotic animal and passes fruit to each other for all eternity.
I’m not making this up. This is legit what Jehovah’s Witness believe.
[Actual video shown to members at their 2019 convention.]
In short - “god is going to kill you. But he might (might) spare you if you obey the 8 governing body members of Jehovah’s Witnesses and agree to peddle their writings door to door for free.”
Can you find in the bible where Jesus or his apostles taught any of that?
Cults tend not to tell your their entire beliefs in one go like I just did because if they did you’d likely see it as a mad doomsday cult that destroys families or something.
You know, like a mad doomsday cult that destroys families?

Are the teachings of JW—consistent?
by Fisherman ini would belief so but if you can point something out, it can be discussed.. i don’t mean what jw taught in the past that they later realized was not correct and amended.
—unless you think and can show something like that is relevant.. i’ve spoken to a lot of believers from different religions.
i don’t want to bash any religion here under this topic but their beliefs are inconsistent and their reasons are sophistry and made up and grounded on circular reasoning.

Yes, Watchtower has been consistent. It has been consistently wrong interpreting biblical prophecy and consistently unable to demonstrate their unique doctrines are biblical.

I've told this story before, but it is worth repeating.
I graduated high school in 1968. At graduation I asked Manfred, a fellow graduate, if he was going to university. He told me there would not be enough time since the end of the system is so close. He told me that if I did not become a JW before 1975 I would be destroyed at Armageddon. I told him he would wake up in 1976 with egg all over his face.
I went on to university and got my BA, Ed & Special Ed. diplomas and had a successful 30 year teaching, career, and retired on a healthy pension. No clue where Manfred is today. If he remained a JW, he is probably living on government handouts thanks to the horrid beast of Revelation.

why celebrate xmas?
by enoughisenough inmany on here are ex jw....they have left the jws because of coming to find out the many false indoctrinations.
one of the things learned as a jw is that there isn't anything true about xmas being the birth of jesus.
( matt chapter 2 tells a whole different narrative about the baby jesus than what is portrayed by the christian churches) they learn the ways that are celebrated are pagan practices jesus told the samaritan woman that god wanted to be worshipped in spirit and it truth.

Jehovah's Witnesses and Apostates
by tfjw injehovah's witnesses basically define the term "apostate" as someone who was once a member of the "organization" (a jehovah's witness) but no longer follows the teachings, rules, regulations and practices.
the society gives their official definition in the following manner: "apostasy is abandoning or deserting the worship and service of god, actually a rebellion against jehovah god.
some apostates profess to know and serve god but reject teachings or requirements set out in his word.
