Been years since Ive gone - should I bother with a letter?

- being trustworthy and faithful to your employer (Col 3:22–24),
- being a law-abiding citizen who respects the authorities (Rom 13:1, 7),
- being obedient to the elders who take the lead in the Christian congregation (Heb 13:17).
Of course, this does not mean that we put God, our spouse, our employer, our authorities or the Governing Body on the same level.

OK so your opinion is that the women in her community failed to apply a loving provision. They would freely socialize with her if she was open to it. They were not afraid that she would corrupt the community or even steal one of their husband's in the process.

I realize the accounts focus. But If the women of the community accepted and were socializing with her, why do you think she would go to such length to isolate herself?
Why do you assume there might not have been a loving provision being applied in her case?

Hi Fisherman,
The mere fact that she was alone in the heat of the day suggests that she was not appreciated or accepted by the other women in her community.
I'm sure if the Samaritan woman was appreciated, she would have been with the others in the cool of the morning to fetch water from the well.
Perhaps, like Jehovah's Witnesses, these women felt ostracism was a loving provision to motivate sinners to repent.

Interesting testimony. What takes away from its impact is the robotic question and answer presentation. I would have liked to have been there when this was produced. The male voice was obviously computer generated. Her responses were stilted and I suspect computer generated as well.

In Jesus day, Samaritans were shunned by the Jews because they (ten tribes under Jeroboam) had apostatized from the faith around the time of the death of King Solomon. See I Kings 11 & 12
