i would like to know if ex's and formers who are not church christians, believe that many of jws' doctrines and bible interpretations are correct, or do you feel that they aren't?

The truth is
Every unique doctrine of Jehovah's Witnesses is extra-biblical, .ie., not found in the Bible.
Evey teaching that is unique and original to the religion is derived by eisegesis rather than exegesis I.e., speculation additional to scripture.
old habits die hard...and quite often in my comments i will refer to the borg as the 'truth'.
does anyone know of any other churches that refer to their own particular church or religion as the 'truth'??
also, does anyone know how it originated...all my life i have used the term...comments like 'how long have u been in the truth?

I know he was ill and in a lot of pain for quite a while before his death. Apparently he died at 64 and a person close to him on his final train ride home described him as looking older than his 88 year old father. I wonder why he died wearing a Roman toga.

I was about ten when my parents became JWs.
Quite overnight we stopped celebrating our own birthdays. We stopped celebrating Christmas. I was told to give up “worldly” friends, going to their parties and hanging out with them.
My TV watching was monitored; the lyrics to the songs I listened to; equally.
The books I wanted to read were monitored.
My after-school activities were stopped.
I was obliged to sit in a suit listening to material way above my grasp, five times a week.
I had to go on the ministry door-to-door with someone I barely knew, with the spectre of a school-friend answering the door.
I was told repeatedly by both my parents and others in the congregation that these sacrifices would realise their reward as the “new system” was coming any minute.
My parents were in fact more liberal than most but my childhood was sucked dry of the some of the innocent joys experienced by class mates.
What no one says and no one wants to admit to is that the reward is not based on any certainty.
“It’ll be worthwhile IF you survive Armageddon.” This introduced an existential crisis. I was making all these sacrifices with no guarantee of any reward. That’s child abuse, isn’t it?

what else has changed?.
during the many years i have been df'd the org has printed a new bible, new song book, doctrinal changes, so has anything changed re reinstating someone?.
i'm contemplating the leap for family reasons but due to my job and young family commitments there is no way i would be able to attend every meeting for months on end.

I assume you arrived here by accident. There are a few active JWs on board, but in disobedience to the Faithful Slave in New York. Who knows what will happen to them come the GT leading to Armageddon.
