What does "everlasting life" mean?
by N.drew injohn 3:16. i'll just say that the way i understand it is i am existing in it, it is not existing in me.. 166 (ai?nios) does not focus on the future per se, but rather on the quality of the age (165 /ai?n) it relates to.
thus believers live in "eternal (166 /ai?nios) life" right now, experiencing this quality of god's life now as a present possession.
(note the gk present tense of having eternal life in jn 3:36, 5:24, 6:47; cf.

Do JWs have a biblically normative relationship with Jesus christ?
by Vanderhoven7 ini would say that that would be impossible...given that jesus christ is simply an angelic being in wts eyes.. jehovah's witnesses have about as much a relationship with the angel gabriel as they do with jesus.. and, no...tacking on the name of jesus at the end of a prayer is not evidence of relationship..

Myelaine: True...and I couldn't have said it any better. :^)

Hi Ding,
<<As far as I can tell, JWs don't profess to have any kind of personal relationship with Jesus or Jehovah. They don't think it's possible or even want it.>>
In all fairness, JWs certainly address, talk to and pray to Jehovah....which cannot be said about their angelic Jesus ... who they never address, talk or pray to.
So although they might argue that they have a biblically normative relationship with God...they cannot legitimately claim the same for the risen Christ.

<<Are you working under the premise that only ABC is orthodox but the group that likes XYZ don't or even can't have a relationship with their minds conception of a Jesus figure.>>
Not at all. I'm working on the premise that calling on and communicating with invisible angelic spirit beings other than God is spiritism. How do you define spiritism?

<<to say a JW does not call on or commune with Jesus is incorrect,>>
Are you saying JWs talk to Jesus, share their burdens with Him, call on Him etc. For example, have you ever heard anyone at the hall talk to Jesus? If not, can you describe the relationship/commune a JW might have with such a high ranking angelic creature?

<<Someone saying they have a better relationship with Jesus than another person seems a bit juvenile don't you think, kind of like a sibling saying mom likes me best.>>
Yes, that would be juvenile...but that's not what I am saying.
What I am saying is that JWs are not permitted to relate personally to Jesus Christ in any way shape or form.
Relating to, calling on, coming to, communing with, sharing personal troubles with, petitioning etc. an angel is spiritism.

Sacolton: excellent study...thanks... not exactly what I was aiming for though. I'll try to clarify.
Chalam: Thanks. Always appreciate your input.
Designs: True, being Trinitarian is no guarantee one knows or has a relationship with Jesus Christ.
My point is that one cannot legitimately say they know and/or have a personal relationship with a person that they have never communicated with in any way. A biblicaly normative relationship with Jesus Christ involves fellowship and commune with the Saviour.
Of course JWs do not fellowship with or commune with angels. And that includes their angelic Jesus.

Bill, it's never too late.
Act 2:21 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.
Rev 22:17 And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.
Joh 6:37 All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.
And you are right. Jesus came to give us abundant life (fruit of the Spirit i.e. joy, peace, love etc.) inspite of life circumstances.
It's never too late to have joy.

<<You might have the son, but not the life.>>
Can't agree there Bro.
1Jo 5:11 And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.
1Jo 5:12 He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.
1Jo 5:13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.Whoever has the Son, has life...because the life eternal is in the Son. It's only those without the Son who are without that life.

Eternal life is a gift. The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord (Romans 6:23 if I remember correctly as I`m not at home and without a Bible).
Whoever has the Son, has life...I Jn.5:13...because Jesus Himself, who is THE LIFE, indwells us by His Holy Spirit.
Goto run.
