Trinity
by Lost in the fog inbumped into a former jw friend who since departing has joined a protestant church.. his explanation of the trinity is "think of the congregation service committee in the jw religion, the three people who locally made all of the decisions affecting the congregation.".
three people each with their own personality who individually were seen as the coordinator, the service overseer, and the secretary.
but who made decisions as a combined unit.. so on the midweek meeting it was announced that "the service committee has approved the following..." .

Yes, where would we be without the Slave to tell us what to believe and how to dress?

The Holy Spirit
by Leolaia inthis was posted originally in the rodney dangerfield thread......
i don't really know much about the trinity other than what i was told as a jw but it does seem to me that the holy ghost is definitely running a distant third in the popularity contest.
when jws get into arguments with trinitarians, it's almost always about whether jesus is god, isn't it?

What really is UN doing with religions?
by Kosonen inoccult un forces seek to hijack religion for globalism.
https://thenewamerican.com/occult-un-forces-seek-to-hijack-religion-for-globalism/it does not look like religions dominate un but the other way around.
journalist alex newman gives a totally different picture about the real state of affairs.

Bahá’u’lláh, the latest and final manifestation of God has already accomplished this (uniting of all religions). So no need for the UN to re-invent the wheel.

The Gospel According to Jehovah's Witnesses
by Vanderhoven7 inmark jones explains the watchtower gospel much better than i can.. "the good news that christians in the first century preached was the birth, death and resurrection of jesus christ; that all those who believed in him were saved and reconciled to god through the death of his son.. unfortunately jehovah’s witnesses) have been led to believe it is something bizarrely different.
the good news according to the watchtower society is as follows:.

Pastor Russell concluded that the second advent took place in October of 1874.
Then he added 3 and half years and came up with 1878 as the time that Jesus began ruling as king.
Since that time it has been emphatically manifest that the time had come in A.D. 1878 when kingly judgment should begin at the house of God. It is here that Rev. 14:14-20 applies, and our Lord is brought to view as the Reaper crowned. The year A.D. 1878, being the parallel of his assuming power and authority in the type, clearly marks the time for the actual assuming of power as King of kings, by our present, spiritual, invisible Lord–the time of his taking to himself his great power to reign, which in the prophecy is closely associated with the resurrection of his faithful, and the beginning of the trouble and wrath upon the nations. –The Time Is At Hand, 1902, page 239.view
Believe it or not, his date works.
According to Revelation, 3 and a half times = 1260 days
Then 1 time = 360 days, the length of a prophetic year
2,520 360 day years = 2,484 solar years
Count 2,484 solar years from 607 BCE and you arrive at 1878,,,the very year Russel determined that Jesus was enthroned.
The governing body needs to take a look at this. The overlapping generation still works with this as well.
And Pastor Russell was right all along.
Three cheers for The Dawn Bible Students; the only ones who did not apostatize.

Are the teachings of JW—consistent?
by Fisherman ini would belief so but if you can point something out, it can be discussed.. i don’t mean what jw taught in the past that they later realized was not correct and amended.
—unless you think and can show something like that is relevant.. i’ve spoken to a lot of believers from different religions.
i don’t want to bash any religion here under this topic but their beliefs are inconsistent and their reasons are sophistry and made up and grounded on circular reasoning.

Yes, but apparently Watchtower religion is the closest to the truth and that's why Jesus chose the Bible Student directors in Brooklyn in 1919 to be his Faithful Slave. Read Matthew 24:45-47 if you have any doubts about that. Because if you don't believe they are the channel you will be destroyed at Armageddon. Just read the Bible and examine their record and you will see there is no excuse for not trusting the Faithful Slave today. Your salvation depends on it.

Hi SV,
1934 is the date arrived at if one accepts Watchtower calculations but applies it to 587 instead of 607 for the destruction of Jerusalem.
Both dates are irrelevant and spurious to scripture.

- I have multiple translations Fisherman.
- a Greek lexicon,
- multiple commentaries
- a Bible Study group that is currently studying Romans, chapter by chapter
- the indwelling Holy Spirit to guide into all truth.
Christians don't need unscholarly men's changing teachings based on eisegesis to know and love both Father and Son. Nor do they need count on men who say they are appointed to guide them into saving truth. The word is sufficient for that as well as for instruction, doctrine and correction. Nor would believing or not believing in 1874, 1919 or 1934 affect that salvation in the slightest.
What does one need to know to be saved that is not found in the Bible Fisherman?

Myth of 1914
by peacefulpete inthe wt engages in history revisionism when insisting the world changed overnight in 1914. in fact the european power struggles that came to a head were centuries old.
millions of lives had been lost in the wars of the 19th century, with the world a powder keg the years prior to the assassination of franz ferdinand in june 1914 which is often said, albeit rather arbitrarily, as the start of the war that escalated over the next 4 years into the great war.
take a look at these two pages and ask if the wt's interpretation of history seems accurate to you.

Fisherman
It's quite simple.
There are no dates in the Bible.
Therefore 1914 is not biblical.
1914 is based by a series of eisegetical assumptions. Consequently making 1914 or any unbiblical date a requirement for salvation or for Christian baptism is illegitimate.
