  You were able to verify the cases from the offical site? Can you please give the link to the official site - and directions on how you verified the case numbers. I will duplicate your results, if possible.

  @Leolaia: It's a bit bigger than that now. Why? Because when this happened, it made us all want to verify the fundamentals. Posts were made with verifyable facts about the reality of these cases - and they seem fake too. We could be wrong. I am not calling anyone a liar. But I don't like this at all. I can't verify any of these cases from the offical court sites. It's grown into suspicion about the cases themselves because when we went to comfort ourselves about the fundamental reality (that all this WAS REALLY HAPPENING), the proof evaporated.

  Now, if someone could find a document on the offical site, this could all go away. Really, it could. But I don't like being gullible.

  Not really. There is an offical site. If I had gone to the search option, typed in the case number (given as proof), and seen an entry, I would be moving on... But I was kinda taken in by this. I don't like it one bit.

  Is absense of evidence, evidence of absense? Not in all cases. But if someone claims that if you walk into that room over there, there will be a huge elephant, and you do walk into that room - and there is no elephant... well... The question is --- is this an elephant? *SHOULD* we be able to find documents on the official website, especially if the offical website *IS* listing court documents?

  I admit it is possible I am not looking in the right spot. Hence the question - has anyone else been able to verify this?

  Yes, but it's not only that. Remember, we've had to fight through Johnny the Bethelite recently too. It is not like we have ONLY endured a cult. Its the cult membership + being lied to after leaving. Some ex-JWs, such as yourself, have proven to be refreshing. But, I for one, will not be gullible. I trusted the stories about Steven Unthank, and I did not check them out at the beginning. I was satisfied to let it play out. But now this comes up and I read through 17 pages of posts AGAIN, and tried to verifiy any of this (outside of Unthank's sites), and I can't find it. It bothers me that I can't.

  It doesn't mean it is fake, but damn it, I don't want to be gullible.

  All,

  IMHO, not that it matters (I am an anonymous poster after all), I really, really, really, really hate that I can't verify any of this. The link that was originally posted to search up court cases is not the official Magistrates' Court of Victoria website. The official site does have a search option. I can't find any documents/links/hits... anything on the offical site for any of the case numbers provided on the seemingly fake site. But, if you go into the search on the official site and do a search with no criteria, you get documents with case numbers. Has anyone been able to verify this from official sites?

  It appears to me that cyberjesus' skepticism is warranted. As it stands now:

  1) The crying girl picture was not real

  2) The sun image appears to be modified in photoshop

  3) I can't verify any of the court case numbers on the original site

  4) The site given to verify the court case numbers appears to be invalid

  5) Steven has a relationship with Rick Fearon

  Can someone please help me out here... why are we mad that we are checking this stuff out? I don't want to be gullible.

  This type of scenario is exactly why so many of us HATE the Rick Fearon type of sensationalism so much. Once on that path the urge to make headway against the WTS WILL override good judgement and common sense. ANY lie, mistatement, misrepresentation, however small WILL undo a great deal of hard work and make all apostates fit the mould the WTS casts us in, ...untrustworthy liars. The net result is that many doubting JWs run straight back to mother again.

  + one billion. The explanation for the picture was, if anything, worse than the picture. And the line about the lego blocks will live in infamy. On the other thread, I called for both Mr. Unthank and Ms. Anderson to renounce the sensationalism and personal attacks - and to once and for all end their association with Rick Fearon. They are beginning to actually sound like Rick Fearon. I repeat it here.

  @WitnesMyFury and @james_woods: This is exactly what I was thinking. I've just had time to review this thread, and I can say I am thoroughly tired of all the sensationalism. Everything that Rick Fearon touches seems to be corrupted. I'm just really tired of it all...
