The toes of the the statue in the book of Daniel represent the 10 overlapping generations of annointed ones starting in October 1914. Assuming a generation is 70 years and a 1-day overlap between generations is acceptable, armageddon can come as late as September of 2614...

Overlapping generation
by mankkeli inif according to the wt, overlapping generation theory is true, then someone born in 1914 could live to be 100, then overlap with another person born in 2014 who also lives to be 100,bringing us to 2114. by that time any?
jehovah's witness will have long forgotten that once upon a time 1914 was pointed to as the start of the last days.. .
a close insider in patterson told me john barr proposed the overlapping theory on the gb meeting.

What if....
by factfinder inwhat if the gb somehow finally did admit they were wrong about 607 and 1914- what percentage of publishers do you think would remain active?.

I'd say about about 10%-15% would leave immediately, followed by Nu-Lite at a Special Assembly assuring the remaining JWs that this was simply the "final test" from Jehovah in order to finally separate the goats from the sheep and clean his organization in preparation for the new system. This Special Assembly would, of course, announce a new DVD from the GB encouraging everyone to get in their final hours of field work before the final stretch has reached its end... many will sell their homes to spend the rest of their lives pio-sneering. These will be recognized in the KM as fine examples of what we should all be doing in the final days... recruitment numbers would show a slight increase. Eventually, those who sold their homes will run out of money, become disillusioned and leave the Borg. The WT will then accuse them of "conjecturing" or "serving Jehovah until a certain date"... lather, rinse, repeat...

How many partook in 1935?--BIG discrepancy in the WTS numbers
by M.J. inin a 1996 questions from readers, the watchtower reported the following regarding the number of partakers in 1935: .
w96 8/15 p. 31 questions from readers ***.
the facts over the decades reflect both the completion of the calling of the anointed and jehovahs blessing on the growing "great crowd," who hope to survive "the great tribulation.

It's no wonder why the WT quietly tossed out this absurd "1935" teaching four years ago (in 2007)... I just have to wonder if this thread had anything to do with it... it really makes the WT look ridiculous...

NEW RUMOR: WT ALLOWS BIRTHDAYS
by J.R.R.Watchtower ini've just read at a spanish forum for ex-jw that the wt has cooked a new light article series about social celebrations, including birthdays and aniversaries.
according to a member of this forum 'in short' the wt will let witnesses to decide by 'their bible trained conscience' either they celebrate birthdays or not.
is this rumor based in some real facts or it's just bullshit?.

Yeah, that will never happen... Allow me to add some perspective... Let's say a JW family of 4 spends an average of $50 each per birthday gift (just for the other 3 members of the family... no one else)... That's $150 each per year for a total of $450 per year. Based on an active membership of 7 million (and assuming an average family of 4), that's $787,500,000 per year in birthday gifts. Need I say more? I seriously doubt the WT is even remotely interested in making this a personal conscience decision. The only reason wedding anniversaries are allowed is because they tried but couldn't really find any Bible texts to take out of context...

Watchtower, 2014 and Crooklyn properties
by Alfred inas we approach 2014, the wt appears to be gearing up for what could potentially be the biggest turning point in their 135-year history.
this new york times article talks about a "complicated formula" involving at least two wt properties slated for eventual residential "re-zoning" which will generate significant property tax revenue needed for the brooklyn park project.... http://www.nytimes.com/2011/08/02/nyregion/housing-deal-for-brooklyn-bridge-park-ensures-parks-completion.html?_r=1.
if anyone comes across any details of this "complicated formula", please do share.... it appears that 2014 will be a very interesting year....

Is the Watchtower stubbornly holding onto the 70 year exile figure within the Old Testament?
by sabastious ini read outlaw's post about how he has watched people make an online career out of debating for and against arguments regarding 607 and 586 being the date of jerusalem's fall.
he's right that this has happened and it's had the nasty side effect of "mudding up the waters" so-to-speak in regards to anyone wishing to glean wisdom from these debates.. i am not a historian and when posts start getting overtly historical my reading of them seems to slow down and i find myself having to reread posts.. i am going to try to simply state each argument to see if i have put it together (correct me if i am wrong):.
the watchtower says that they default to the bible's figure of 70 years of jewish exile which is used more than once in the old testament.

I hate to repeat what has already been said here, but here it goes again...
The WT has no choice but to keep saying "desolation" (instead of servitude) or face having to explain which Bablilonian king the jews were serving between 539 and 537 B.C.E..
As the WT knows all too well, there was no Babilonian king... he was killed in 539 B.C.E... so it's best that they stay away from even mentioning that 70-year "servitude" thing... the brothers might stumble (the smart ones anyway)... besides, Jehovah will clear things up in his own due time...
