can anyone explain to me just how and why the jw's confidently believe that jesus came and "inspected" all the other religions and found every one lacking and failing his expectations except the little group of bible students who went on to become the jw's?.
this is the biggest gap between history, logic and common sense and wt belief, to me.
more ludicrous than all the propehecies put together.. i'd be really interested to know all the different strands of this.

british dubs are invited to attend a special convention next summer in dublin , irish republic.
o k, this kind of trip has been done many times before.
however i have never seen such a crude and rigid set of rules that would apply to their own people going on a trip, at their own expense of course.
2 years ago, I was at a pointless 2-hour meeting in a Coliseum where Anthony Morris III was the main speaker. There was much expectation that a very important annoucement was going to be made. But after it was all over, everyone was left scratching their heads and asking "wtf was that all about?"...
Anyways... I'll cut to the strangest part of his "talk"... Towards the end of his talk, he was discussing the world-wide preaching work when suddenly he requested a show of hands of all those who enjoy getting up Saturday mornings to go to Field Service. I was amazed that less than half of the 3,800 or so in attendance raised their hands.
Oddly, his response to the audience's "weak" reaction was something like: " Well that's a lot more than I expected. I surely don't enjoy it, especially when you can barely find interested people in the territory. But it's something we all have to do because of Jesus' command in Matthew 24:14." ... or words along those lines. I remember the shocked look of an elder that was sitting in front of me... it was classic! Morris hates Field Service and he publicly admits it!!! this guy is incredibly stupid...

the service meeting for this week was almost entirely made up of questions based on the dvd faith in action pt1.

Agree with everything you've said... except that they did gloss over 1914....
Even though Geoffrey Jackson admits that they expected a heavenly reward, the anonymous narrator LIED on TWO occasions by twice stating that the Bible Students expected Jesus to return in 1914. This is COMPLETELY FALSE... as we all know, Russell taught them what the Adventists taught him, that Jesus had already returned invisibly in 1874 and that Armageddon would start in October 1914...
a friend just showed me a message from steven unthank on facebook where he mentioned (about 4 hours ago) that the state of victoria will be launching an investigation into all religions, including the jehovah's witnesses... he also mentioned that he will likely testify.. i don't know anything else about this because the message was brief, but i assume it has something to do with the protection of pedophiles.... has anyone else heard this yet?.
Thanks Barbara!

I'm beginning to think that djeggnogg is a compensated endorser of the Watchtower Real Estate Development Corporation Society. Why else would he twist the facts the way he does with such extreme dishonesty?
if you've been to the meeting when the letter was read, what was jw reaction????
just curious if it was just another sign that the end is nearer or did any wake up for a second to realize the corporation is downsizing due to costs..
Skeeter... How do JWs "sign up" to hear the weekly Public Talk? Do they get a special password from an elder?

on my way to work (my temp job) i drove past my witness uncle.
there he was on the street preaching to a man.
i knew that stance so well, publication in hand, leaning in towards to hopefully interested person and telling your story.

Effective preaching of the "good news" requires two basic components:
It's been thoroughly proven that the Watchtower does not preach an entirely true message. For example, they preach that salvation is by works and that Jesus has been reigning since 1914 (false and false).
They also use a totally ineffective preaching method (door to door) and are only recently using the internet (after they've been avoiding this medium since it started exposing their lies)...
By the way.... I suggest that you read old WT literature so you can see for yourself that the WT continuously lies about their history...
this week, the service meeting will have an oral review of the dvd faith in action which was distributed in the 2010 district assembly worldwide... as many of you probably know, the intent of this dvd is to present a "white-washed" version of the history of the watchtower by omitting all the scandals and cover-ups.... i no longer go to meetings, but i would have loved to raise my hand and answer question #9 which reads: "what did the bible students expect would happen in 1914?".
my response would have been the following:.
even though the geoffrey jackson admits that the bible students expected a "heavenly reward", the dvd avoids mentioning that russell categorically predicted armageddon would come in october of 1914. what's even worse is the fact that the narrator lied on two occasions by saying that the bible students expected or reasoned that jesus would take the throne in 1914. this is completely false.

What's even worse is the fact that the narrator LIED ON TWO OCCASIONS by saying that the Bible Students expected or reasoned that Jesus would take the throne in 1914. THIS IS COMPLETELY FALSE. They DID NOT expect Jesus to take the throne in 1914 since Russell had already taught them that Jesus was already in power since 1874. In fact, it wasn't until 1929 (13 years after Russell's death) that Rutherford decided to move 1874 to 1914.

or will the wts maintain a presence in brooklyn so they can continue to call it bethel?
.
They're moving to a remote location in upstate New York to make it more difficult for bethelites to find a liquor store.
