about a month ago, ali and her son david, heard noises from the attic above ali's bedroom...that sounded like something was being dragged across the attic floor.
Your argument is excellent evidence of what I mentioned in my original post.
Believers have faith that these things happen.
Non-believers have faith that these things don't happen.
Both sides hold positions based on faith, and not on neutral-minded observation and exploration.

Is it safe to assume from your reply that you have scientific evidence that getting yourself emotionally worked up can prevent massive alcohol poisoning and/or dramatically increase the tensile strength of one's skin, or are you basicly saying, "Almighty Science says it. I believe it. That settles it"?

People who don't believe spirits exist have probably never seen someone at a vodou ceremony suddenly slap on a pair of sunglasses with one lens missing, start smoking two cigarettes at the same time when she had never smoked a single one before, chug what must have been a gallon of rum without any ill effects (or even any alcohol on her breath or signs of drunkennness after the possession ended) and tell you things she had no way of knowing. Ever seen a guy balance himself on the point of a machete without even scratching his skin? I'd like to see what Dawkins would say about <i>that</i>.
In other words, most of the people who dismiss that sort of thing out of hand are working on exactly the same quality of evidence that Jehovah's Witnesses who believe that such things MUST BE TRUE are - blind faith. In this case, blind faith that anything not immediately obvious has to be false.

paul's letters practically invent christianity.. the gospels trickled in after him.. paul never walked with jesus and yet explains him.. never a quote from the master at all.. yet, paul is such a maven.. if jesus couldn't be bothered to actually reveal what he was all about to his apostles with whom he ate, drank, spoke and slept---why this persecutor, saul?.
the apostles heard every word jesus spoke and were willing to die for him.. paul didn't--yet--miraculously explained every detail of the entire history of god's purpose including his messiah.. .
can anybody provide a non-gimmick answer?.

Paul invented much of what we now think of as Christianity wholecloth. Any HONEST reading of the letters of Paul followed by an HONEST reading of the gospels will show that they have an entirely different focus, and that was on the law, on outward conduct and actions, as well as judgement.
Paul came to subvert what Jesus had taught by replacing his gospel, his "good news" with the worst imaginable news possible by changing the immediate possibility of experiencing holiness and divinity as a lived reality and the proclamation that all divisions between God and man had been torn asunder into a shadowy cultic belief that only found its fulfillment "in heaven," or "after death, " or, if you will, in Paradise.
i've heard the statement from bible apologists so many times that the global flood story of genesis was not a global flood but was probably a local flood.
this seems problematic.. this directly disagrees with the bible.
everywhere the bible internally references a global flood of worldwide scale (i'll throw in matthew 24:39 as a nt example and genesis 6:17 as a ot example.
Or perhaps many of the prophets understood that the idea of a global flood had an interior spiritual reality that had nothing to do with literal tales.

i mean, they seem to avoid it like the plague.
i know people will say that they only need the bible to guide them in life...etc...but i contend that you cannot simply read the bible by yourself; at least without knowing where the philosophical principles contained within the bible come from.
is this aversion of confusing philosophy with faith way over the head of most jws?
The JWs like to rag on independent thought without ever realizing that, by their own story, lack of independent thought is what got all of us in this mess. Eve, after all, believed YHWH when he said that eating of the tree would cause her to die. And then she believed the serpent when he told her the opposite. However, independent thought didn't cause her to change her mind - lack of independent thought did. Rather than examining each case and considering the merits of each, she simply first allowed YHWH to impose his word on her, and then allowed the serpent to impose on her as well.
Boethius once said, "You can never impose upon a free spirit, nor can you deprive a rationally self-possessed mind of its equanimity." And that is why learning, intelligence, and thought are the deadly enemy of the spiritual vampires who run the WTBTS.
