Hi,
I am an active JW, still single and I live with my JW family. I have tried to instill critical thinking skills to my sister and she has gladly accepted them.
I really want to tell her how I feel about the WT and their teachings but I'm not sure if I should. Any suggestions/advice?
not just as the 10 year anniversary of 9/11 but also as the date of the study of the most disgusting watchtower article i have ever read..
My thoughts exactly Mickey. Absolutely disgusting.
this past week's (9/11/2011) watchtower study on apostates has been the worst study i've had to endure ever since i opened my eyes up to the watchtower's "truth.
"i disgusted me.
i wish more people could actually see what's in front of them.
Hi everybody,
This past week's (9/11/2011) watchtower study on apostates has been the worst study I've had to endure ever since I opened my eyes up to the Watchtower's "truth."I disgusted me. I wish more people could actually see what's in front of them. It was absoluetly aweful.
There were so many fallacies in the article that I'm saving a PDF version for future reference.
What are your thoughts on it?
Anyway, I just wanted to ask:
Do JW's know how to park their cars?
This past weekend I went to a 45 minute meeting where they taught us how to properly park cars.
Apparently JW's can't do this on their own.
Funny poopsiecakes. I can't edit this, sorry everyone. There seems to be some kind of error.
for so many years i made donations to the wts for its worldwide work efforts.
i even factored it into my monthly budget.
i never felt like it was worthy cause.
For so many years I made donations to the WTS for its worldwide work efforts. I even factored it into my monthly budget. I never felt like it was worthy cause. How do I know? Because recently I started donating to charity for real causes. For example, I've been making donations to various organizations helping in the Somalian famine crisis. Everytime I donate I feel like I'm making a difference. It's a feeling I never felt while I donated to the WTS.
In the past three months, 29,000 children under the age of 5 have died of hunger in Somalia.
I encourage all of you to donate as well. We can make a difference.
i remember listening and thinking about other people and how spiritual they are.
some jw's eat, sleep and breathe watchtower.
and i used to think, "why can't i be like them?
I remember listening and thinking about other people and how spiritual they are. Some JW's eat, sleep and breathe Watchtower. And I used to think, "why can't I be like them?" And I thought I could never be good enough. But thanks to the internet that the Watchtower likes to condemn so much, I learned that the Watchtower's teachings are wrong and that I'm better off not being a spiritual JW.
I just wanted to share that with everyone.
for me it was many things.
most concerned certain teachings that invloved genders, children, sex, sexuality and sexual orientations, disfellowshipping, apostates, blood, rape, and few other things, as well as the jw's unloving attitude toward so many people..
Although I haven't actually "left" the WTS, I have already accepted it to be false. It's only a matter of time before I leave. I want to avoid falling into the "social abyss" between the JW world and the real world created by the Watchtower.
For me however, it was learning about science. Science contradicts the bible and this created a cognitive dissonance effect. So, in order for me to either confirm or reject either modern science or JW teachings, I bought a book about critical thinking, which would help me think clearly and reasonably. That pretty much put the final nail in the coffin for the Watchtower.
So to sum it al up: science and critical thinking.
