Are Jehovah's Witnesses allowed to live in homes made of PLYWOOD? A Watchtower viewpoint from 1964.
by ThomasCovenant inwhile looking up whether jw nurses are allowed to administer blood transfusions i found this little gem from.
watchtower 15th november 1964 page 681 .
''the use of blood in adhesives for manufacturing plywood and other commonly used materials has now come to the attention of christians, and we use plywood as an example.. much plywood is made using blood glue, but some plywood is blood-free.. a christian purchaser or contractor may seek to obtain blood-free plywood if he can do so; however, if he decides to use all types of plywood, it must be left to his conscience.

I don't think there is any such thing as "the one".
"The One" is only the one you found so far. If you have doubts, keep looking. They'll be another one.

High Profile Case: Seeking Reinstatement
by headisspinning inbut our situation is very difficult and quite high profile.... i was raised as a jw and my mother was very strict and abusive.
i got baptized at age 14.. my mother actually called on my (present) husband's mom in service.
she was on the initial call resulting in his mom coming in the truth and him being raised in it from about age 8 or 9.. despite a very abusive step-father, he followed his mom's lead and came into the truth.

I am sure you are only trying to do what you think is best for you, your family, and your spirituality. It's hard to see the injustice that if happening to you when you are so consumed with misplaced guilt. Please don't think you deserved this.
Part of the problem with disfellowshipping is what Ray Franz called the "disfellowshipped state", as in status. Once you are in a "disfellowshipped state" then it no longer matters whether you have gone on to repentence, moved forward with your life...you are in this "status" and the only way out from it is reinstatement. I know a sister whose 15 year old baptized daughter committed fornication, and was disfellowshipped. She had no interest in returning to "the truth" due to the shame and humiliation connected to it. It has now been twenty-two years, and she is grown, educated, married with children, and her mother, who is a friend of mine, hasn't been able to speak to her for these past twenty-two years. Unless ****** returns to "the truth" her mother will die without speaking to her again. There is no talking to my friend, I have tried, and she is doing what she thinks that Jehovah wants, that somehow this position the congregation is taking will move **** to repentence. Sad.

You poor dear child! You are beating yourself up with guilt and shame. Stop. Everyone makes mistakes, and we are all imperfect. Can you imagine Christ telling a repentant sinner, "Get back to me in a couple of years"?
I am a born-in with five generations of family in, and I am well into my social security years. I am not disfellowshipped, but the mere fact that I can't go along with everything we (the WT) think and do would be enough to get me DF'd. Take your time. Don't be afraid to seek the friendship and shelter of those who will befriend you. You sound afraid of "apostacy" but you need not be. No one here will involve you in an unsolicited discussion of doctrine. Many of us are still in the organization, and I'd guess that most here are Christians.
Good luck to you and your family in this terrible trial.

Debunking the Watchtower - Slam Dunks and Solid Arguments
by Nickolas inthere's a wide cross section of thinkers on this board, representing christian belief and non-belief and points in between, the agnostics.
there is most definitely a minority, mostly silent, of devoted jehovah's witnesses present, too, but their contribution to the dialogue and dynamic of the board is minimal.
that small minority aside, it can be said the people who venture into here to communicate with one another share a common paradigm, and that is the watchtower is built on a foundation of clay.

I have been thinking about this myself. For the past two months, I have been talking to my family one at a time. (Well, the last one was practically "intervention" style) but it seems that there is always one answer. There appears to be more than one answer, but if you boil it all down, it's all "this isn't really god's organization, is it?" No one has been convinced by anything other than the proof of our history and the teachings of our own publications.
Last night I read "Captives of a Concept" and realized that (in addition to the fact that had I read it six months ago, it would haved saved me a thousand hours of research) it suggested that it is all about whether or not this is Jehovah's organization! That was the argument I had with myself when I began reading old literature. I purchased all the old books strictly as historical curiosities, and read them just for laughs. Before long, I knew this was not god's organization.
It's not about the cross, 607, the resurrection, immortality, etc. It's about whether or not this is Jehovah God's organization. There is really no other argument that matters....

Hello Everyone
by Retrovirus ini have lurked for a few weeks, and gathered that a bit of background is expected; understandably.
i'm from a reasonably dysfunctional family, and my brother married a really nice lady who was "studying" with the jws.
over the years i saw this independent, funny lady change.

It's tough to overcome the WT mindset. Too bad your relationship with a SIL you seemed to have liked has been affected by WT nonsense. Ask a witness too good of a question, you might not have to see them again. It's a shame.
Welcome to the forum!

**MUST READ** AlanF's email to Knocking.org
by sf inthis is a must-read that, hopefully, will stay an "active topic" for all seekers and lurkers, by bumping it to the top as often as possible.
alan wrote it in randys {dogpatch} thread regarding knocking.org documentary and in reply to the email mr. engardio sent to barbara anderson.
however, it is so vital a read that it indeed needs its own thread:.

MIL gives advice on how to "cope"
by AggieNostic inmy wife's parents just can't stand that we haven't been to meetings since 2005. both are pioneers, retired, active fanatical jws.. anyway, today mil called the wife and after pleasantries, stated that we should really think about coming back to the meetings so we can better cope.
my wife answered: "cope with what?
" mil: "cope with this old system of things..." wife: "hmmm... we seem to be coping pretty well now".

It is the JW delusion that there is no happiness outside the organization. I used to tell people that all the time...
