They've had Michael Jackson, Prince, Glen Campbell and others in the fold and yet they have the most unfathomably bad songs. I only go to funerals at the KH and every time, I'm like, Jebus Crimony these songs are bad.

So, When Did They Stop Singing?
by Atlantis inrutherford said:.
a few words like the above pronounced at the beginning of the study would be far more beneficial than to occupy the same time in singing songs, which often express much that is out of harmony with the truth of and concerning god's kingdom.watchtower/1938/may/1st/pg.139 .
back then, they had what was called: order of study, and this is what every overseer was instructed to say to the audience.. .

You are right Rafe. I went to plenty of great parties back in those days. Assemblies were notorious. After spending 10 hours sitting on a bench in blazing sun it was time to party. I would bring my albums of Stones, Foreigner, Heart, etc. to gatherings. I even brought a bottle of Crown to an elder's house party. I wasn't 21 yet. No problem.

I felt relieved when my wife and I both wrote it back in 1993. I wrote it to one elder I respected and two I didn't. One was a life long friend. They were going to df me anyway. They made up their mind and I knew it. I'm not good at repenting.
Slidin, I understand your point but when your born in, sometimes it's important to make your point with people you've spent your whole life with and once considered a good friend.

Thanks for sharing, Kosonen. Sending on. I believe in herd immunity and a strong immune system. I don't believe in masks and vax's. This isn't about a pandemic. This is about government control over every aspect of your life.

Thomas Jefferson (Declaration of Independence): But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government

Justmemorph,
Couldn't agree more. It's about freedom. The rona is being used to destroy freedom. Of business, of people, of nations.

I don't wear a mask. Never have. I've been licking shopping cart handles trying to get the rona. No luck. It's a joke and hoax designed to destroy small business economy. Created by Chicoms and weaponized by the lib parties.

What JW Subjects Interest You The Most On This Site? What Doesn’t??
by minimus ini like subjects that delve into the history of the religion and proofs that the witnesses are not the true religion.
i’m not so much into apologists saying we need to go to meetings, especially if the poster looks like a scammer trying to get ex jws going.
what subjects interest you ?

I have mostly come here to escape politics. If I want politics I have dozens of sites to go to.
I've been on this site for ~20 years under various names. My favorite topic is what the current JW policies are. My parents are still active JW's (Dad a PO for many years). I've been DA for about 30 years and find it fascinating how their attitude and treatment of me changes over the years. I come here to inquire and find out how the policies have changed. Right now it appears to have gone much more liberal than the past. I visit them often and they even call me from time to time. That used to be a no, no.
I also am intrigued by input from former (and current) Bethelites, CO's and Elders.
