You need to belong to a religion to be spiritual in the same way you need to be married to be in love. One is physical, one is mystic.

DO WE NEED TO BELONG TO A RELIGION TO BE A "SPIRITUAL PERSON"?
by foodalls ini have been noticing people posting on this site have a "deep" spiritual desire, but don't quite know how to find it, or where it is at.. this beg the question...do we need to be involved with a "religion" to find "spirituality"...especially an "organized religion"???.
anyone that has there eyes open can see that all religion is loosing their influence over people around the world...i spent 47 years thinking i was in the "truth" being one of jw's!
and now that i am out...and looking back from the "outside"...all i see is that its just another religion...filled with all the "control-grid" stuff found in any other group.. worse yet...they are worse than other religions...so it begs an answer..is there such thing as a "true religion"???.

What's up with the rings on the right hand?
by drewcoul ini noticed two of these guys (losch, and the one to h is left) both have rings on their right hand ring finger.
i have known several co's and do's to wear rings on their right hand.....david biegler i think wore one.
i don't find many r&f male jw's or average "worldly" men wearing rings on their right hand.

Municipal elections are not federal issues. It's pretty simple. The municipal ordinance is that anyone running for mayor must RESIDE in the city for one year prior to the election. Since this requirement doesn't violate anyone's rights (ie: they don't say, "no one armed amputees may run for mayor) it is completely the right decision. Gotta love Chicago politics.

BD, I don't think these are wedding rings. In other pictures, they have two rings on, one on the left, and one on the right.

Just wondering.

I went through a few "Sheparding" calls when I became irregular/ inactive. Funny thing was the best one I got was from one brother who claimed to be of the anointed, he was older and wasn't an elder, but he was a pioneer. He acted like he actually cared about me. He was later disfellowshipped over something I do not know anything about. He was involved in a car wreck on his way to the meeting a few weeks later and killed.......But I digress.
I found that if you just act very troubled by doubts......like you are anguishing, they are much more empathetic than if you take on an accusatory tone.
I agree with S77. It's your house, your turf. Make sure you appear humble, but take them to task, respectfully when they bring up things that are in error......like "The Faithful and Discreet Slave has provided us with plenty of spiritual food to keep us spiritually strong, and to encourage us....blah blah blah......" Just ask them to explain the FDS arrangement......We all know they won't be able to because there are so many holes in it. Then, they will see you have legitimate reasons to be discouraged.
I know it's not very well thought out, but just putting in my $.02
Good to see you posting again, BD.

Call me paranoid, but its possible that this 30 hour initiative is a weeding out process....a cull if you will...
by miseryloveselders inwe've discussed a few potential reasons why the wt is promoting april 2011 as a month of special activity.
reasons include manipulating statistics, and trying to provide some kind of spark to increasingly apathetic and discouraged congregations.
i'm sure there are others i'm missing too, feel free to include those.

I think that pioneers are BORED. They are so bored seeing the other regular pub's faces every day, sitting in the car, getting rain and snow and crumbs all over the place, they want some fresh meat! That was her deal.
Right on MamaLove! I remember pioneering and it wasn't so bad on Saturdays, but through the week, and particularly on Wednesday afternoons, I was always stuck with the same ol' boring people. The really good pioneers who I would have rather worked with already had arrangements to go on Bible studies. These were usually sisters, so they usually wouldn't have me go with them. It was always nice to spend the time in FS with someone new, and someone you liked.
