That was a fake Johnny the Bethelite. He admitted it and apologized to Rick for telling him to call. I mean the real (if I can use the term "real" with regard to JTB) Johnny needs to post here and tell us his story, respond to our questions and have a discourse with us.

I still miss Teena Marie...
by serenitynow! init was 1 year ago today that she died, way too soon.
she was a great singer and songwriter and i was lucky enough to see her in concert twice.
unlike these no talent hacks out nowadays, she really could sing, write, and play instruments.

I think she looked a lot like Momma Cass in that pic. She was a good singer, but I never really got into her music.

Ding dong with 4 JWs this morning
by Qcmbr inthe jws were out in our area this morning and i bolted downstairs before my wife could waive them away as she normally does.. two ladies (mum and 24 year old daughter i later found out) initially stopped as i opened with a comment about how i couldn't trust a thing they say because they are taught to practice theocratic warfare.. the mother blinked and asked me what that was ( so it began ) i informed them both that they are allowed to lie or at least be evasive with the truth with worldy people.
she countered that they are taught not to lie so i again asked her if she knew what theocratic warfare meant and she again said no (first of my many - 'please go look that up' statements .).
i then moved onto the idea that they couldn't think independently outside the organisation due to fear of being disfellowshipped and shunned.

I was forced to go to the meetings, I would have rather stayed home and watched TV on thursday nights......(Thursday night was the best TV night when I was growing up).
I was also forced to go out in service on Saturday mornings when I would have rather slept in and watched cartoons.

What is Knorr's legacy?
by drewcoul ini was wondering, i am aware of most of the presidents of the wts being a born in.
i am familiar with how it started with ct russell and the tumultuous takeover by jfr.
i grew up in the franz era and left about 2001 (although not mentally out until finding this forum a year and a half ago).

So, then Freddie took care of prophecy and Knorr took care of the business and growing the organization. I see. It just seems that theologically he wasn't very insightful and didn't really look into deep scriptural things (true or not) like the other three (Russell, Rutherford, and Franz). Am I right about that?

Franz had all of the "Types and anti-types" and end time prophecies that I remember throughout my childhood and teen/ early adult years. But what the H-E-double hockey sticks did Knorr accomplish as president?
Just curious to get the thoughts from people who remember farther back than I do.

I think that was the point of his song......As I remember reading, his mother was a faithful Witness, and he used to attend, but pursued his music career and left when he was a teenager. He was still close to his mother, and wrote the song for her I guess to make it seem like the KH was more energetic than it really was.

Were Jehovah's Witnesses Correct In ANYTHING They Taught?
by minimus inor are they as correct as any other false religion?.

I would say yes. Which in my opinion, is worse than 100% lies. There was enough truth spread throughout their message for people like me to come in and buy it all. Where I find them lacking is that they are as right and wrong as anyone else, but they never admit fault and anyone who points out the past is quickly labeled an apostate.
