PAINTING THEMSELVES INTO A CORNER or WHY was the "GENERATION" teaching started in the 1st place?
by Terry insetting the scene.
pastor russell died in 1916. those who had 'followed' him were known pejoratively as russellites.
you could call it a 'cult of personality' if you wanted to sneer.

Canada Branch Finances - 2015
by berrygerry inso, cra has fixed the glitch whereby they had probably posted the annual return of a small congo.. at first glance, there was disappointment that the gb's begging has been paying off.
so, donations are at an all-time high, up by 10% (line 4500).. more staggering, gifts from other charities exploded to $33.5 million (line 4510).. as a result, total revenue is at a staggering $83.3 million (line 4650).. however, expenses are still high, with supplies increasing by $5 million (line 4891).
(really explains the push to digital, and discontinued publications.).

LT investments were probably loans to KHs.
It would also explain increase in donations from other charities as they are no longer loan payments coming in.

Is it true: the memorial will stop after the last anointed have passed away?
by FinchAndWeston ini heard that the memorial will stop after the last anointed have passed away ... is this information true/false?
just curious.
it's secondhand.

I'm with you OTWO.
The memorial is pure power control. Watch everyone pass the wine and bread so that you all acknowledge someone is in charge of you, and controls you. Its us the GB. The exercise does nothing more than support the class structure they have developed for themselves.
Maybe it will die out when the overlapping generation that overlapped the last overlapping generation. But they would have to kill the control structure or make it different say, only the anointed should touch the bread and wine, so that its a video/live link to a bethel memorial. Would give them control over number of partakers as well. (Don't steal my idea without credit WT).
Can you imagine the excitement of all getting to watch TPT and the rest of the GB slurping away. It would make them even bigger gods in the eyes of most JW.

Pshycos! - 2016 "Remain Loyal to Jehovah" Regional Convention Program
by thedepressedsoul inwow this is interesting!
i think how much emphasis this puts on "loyalty" shows their is an issue.
they're trying to plug the wholes as much and quickly as possible.

I'm looking forward to "Shun Unreptentant Wrongdoers"
this looks to be a desperate attempt to hold on to the flock with the outlines like this. They clearly expect nobody to show up from the public, but its not like that was normal anyways.

Why dont you go to the memorial?
by atomant inl guess we all have our own reasons and thought it would give insight to others considering going to reconsider and not go.
-
elderINewton
We all have similar reasons wow.
Not wanting to be part of the numbers is important, and to me that they are a cult that hurts people that is misleading 8.2 million. But as another mentioned my reason is that those peodophile lovin fuckers can kiss my ass before I'll ever set foot in again. Then they need to beg my forgiveness for asking me to break the law.

Did any of us ever enjoy meetings?
by stephanie61092 inthis is a legitimate question.
did any of us ever find real joy in being at the meetings?
did any of us ever finish a meeting and think "i feel so enriched"?

I loved giving talks but hated how restricted the wt was on passion and keeping an audience engaged. I must have been counciled hundreds of times to focus on the material rather than the audience.
Watchtower study was a death sentence. Worst meeting part ever. Clear brainwashing part that I never ever could like

jw family loves to ask df'd ones for money!
by Ghiagirl inwell it finally happened!
we have been waiting about a year for this, my dfd husbands family asked us for money.
even though his own father hasn't met our 8 month old son.

Since my family and I have faded we had a similar request. There is no winning in these types of requests, its all about minimizing the impact on you and your family.
I gave some money, in the form of grocery cards, but I made damn sure that every member of the family knew I did it. Then added that is what true love shows, and I'm Jesus would have done the same.
It pissed them all off good. I laughed, figured it was cheap thrills for $100.

Any motorcycle sales rep out there?
by RavenPearl inheres hoping.
i have a 2005 yamaha r6, with extras.
i am looking to purchase a 2008 (design is beautiful and low miles compared to mine.
-
elderINewton
I ride a R6 2012. That's way too much $$ if your in the USA. It would have to have 1000 miles on it.
Else my last trade i said you be fair you get my money. That was it, plus it is way easier to do this at seasons end rather than now. -

Urging More Lurkers To Sign Up
by freemindfade ini have seen a lot of new posters intro stories on here, also updates from those who have been around for a while.
i just want to take 1 post to beg those reading to speak up.
it was a big turning point for me and one of the best decisions i made.

It felt great to apologize for all the unloving injustices I was a part of. This is one of the few places you can pretty much do so.
So many other posters felt the same and while it is great to hear that it's even greater to be heard so that you see your far from alone in the JW world.
Joining felt liberating.
