People here must be completely unreceptive to Jehovah's holy spirit as it's mentioned throughout the Watchtower study article.
Remember, Jesus assured his disciplesthat he would give them a helper—God’s holy spirit. (Read John 14:16,17.) This is the most powerful force inthe universe. With it, Jehovah can “more than superabundantly” provide the strength thatwe need to endure any trial. (Eph. 3:20) By relying on it, said the apostle Paul, we receive “power beyond what is normal,” even though we are “pressed in every way.” (2 Cor. 4:7, 8) Paragraph 12

Black Sheep wrote; "She was doing the same on her home town forum before she found this one. Got about the same amount of respect too."
What are you even talking about? Did you have duct tape on your mouth or missing fingers when mrsjones5 copied from wikipedia? People insert information from other sources onto this forum all the time. You'd make a real jackass out of yourself if you scouted around the forum calling people out everytime. Either do it consecutively or don't do it at all. Or be two faced...

I'm here because the forum came up on the search engine Google when I typed, "Jehovah's Witness forum." Try it: it was hit #1. The forum didn't appear to be an exclusive social club with membership requirements other than the Posting Guidelines.

"The problem for me is not that they taught incorrect things in the past.
The problem is that over and over and over again, they claim that today's understandings were discerned many years earlier than they actually were.
For example:
Claiming that the Bible Students pointed forward to 1914 as the beginning of the "Time of the End" is a lie
Claiming that the Bible Students anticipated that Jesus would receive his kingly power in 1914 is a lie
Claiming that the Bible Students anticipated Christ's reign in 1914 is a lie.
Claiming that the Bible Students discerned Christ's invisible parousia ahead of time is a lie
Claiming that the Bible Students had foreknowledge of the heavenly birth of God's kingdom in 1914 is a lie
Claiming that the Bible Students predicted that the "Time of Distress" would commence in 1914 is a lie.
Claiming that Russell published Object and Manner in 1873 is a lie
Claiming that Russell had been unaware of the "Zero year" problem is a lie
Claiming that the very first issue of Zion's Watch Tower made known the significance of 1914 is a lie.
...Yet these claims are common things I read in The Watchtower and hear in the final discourse at JW conventions"
Everything is clearly put forth here;
jv chap. 6 p. 61 A Time of Testing (1914-1918)
Great Expectations
On June 28, 1914, Archduke Francis Ferdinand of Austria-Hungary was struck down by an assassin’s bullet. That assassination triggered the outbreak of the Great War, as World War I was originally called. The fighting began in August 1914 when Germany swept into Belgium and France. By the autumn of that year, the bloodbath was well under way.
“The Gentile Times have ended; their kings have had their day”! So exclaimed Brother Russell as he entered the dining room at the Brooklyn headquarters of the Watch Tower Society the morning of Friday, October 2, 1914. Excitement was high. Most of those present had for years been looking forward to 1914. But what would the end of the Gentile Times bring?
World War I was raging, and at that time it was believed that the war was leading into a time of global anarchy that would result in the end of the existing system of things. There were also other expectations concerning 1914.Do they have to provide a detailed commentary every time they make a statement about 1914?

we thank all those involved this past weekend for their passion and commitment to help free those trapped in falsehood.
i am aware that many on this forum do not believe in protesting against the watchtower society, and i respect their position.

I won't say too much about “shunning” because you never know who's been shunned. You would think those that take issue would focus more on the formal injunction and not strictly on the adherents as any church can emulate 1 Corinthians 5:12-13.

Expel the Immoral Brother!
What business is it of mine to judge those outside the church? Are you not to judge those inside? God will judge those outside. “Expel the wicked man from among you.” 1 Corinthians 5:12-13
“Six Screens” claims to be a Christian ministry program while cherry picking out of the Bible what is “Christian.”
http://www.upperroomministriesnewengland.com/home.htmlPeople shun each other in today's world all the time often for the most trivial reasons.

" Dumbest thing you`ve Written"
Anyone can muck up a forum by posting random trashy pictures. It sounds like you're the one that went off deep end on inhalants; paint, glue, scotch-guard and who knows what else. Why don't you change your ID to Simple Jack?

"The very title of this thread is WT based term not found in the bible. Perhaps you should finish reading the bible."
The word [universe] isn't in the Bible either. That doesn't make it a non-reality.

I've read enough of the Bible to back the things I say.

"DECEMBER, 1880. THE RESTORED DOMINION.
Soon, probably by, possibly before, the fall of 1881, we shall be changed-- born of
the spirit [of which we are now begotten] into the glorious likeness of our Head."
That was written by AD Jones:
jv chap. 28 pp. 620-621 Testing and Sifting From Within
In 1881, A. D. Jones, another associate, started a paper (Zion’s Day Star) along the same lines as the Watch Tower but with the idea that it would set out simpler features of God’s purpose. At first it seemed that all was well. Yet, within a year, Jones’ paper had repudiated Christ’s atoning sacrifice, and within another year, it had rejected all the rest of the Bible. What had happened to those men? They had allowed personal theories and fascination with popular philosophies of men to lead them astray from the Word of God. (Compare Colossians 2:8.) The paper published by A. D. Jones continued for only a short time and then faded from view. J. H. Paton decided to publish a magazine in which he set out the gospel as he saw it, but its circulation was quite limited.

Quendi said, "Like so many others, I accepted the false logic of the Society."
What false logic?
What Jehovah’s Witnesses do is direct people to God's Word, a book that many say contains a unified message from God to man. A book(s) isn't strictly the object of their devotion, but their study materials are built around this.
w05 2/15 p. 6 Miracles That You Have Seen!
No book enjoys such a wide circulation as does the Bible. Do you see in it a miracle? Can we attribute its existence to a “supernatural agency”? True, the Bible is a book written down by humans, but they claimed to have expressed the thoughts of God, not their own.(2 Samuel 23:1, 2; 2 Peter 1:20, 21) Think of it. They were some 40 individuals, living over a span of 1,600 years. They came from backgrounds as varied as those of shepherds, military men, fishermen, civil servants, physicians, priests, and kings. Yet, they were able to convey a unified message of hope that is both truthful and accurate.I know a lot of it, but I've never read the Bible from cover to cover. A mistaken viewpoint doesn't change what the Bible says, make it untruthful or inaccurate. I've read much of the Watchtower Society's early literature. It's all well written, put together and its aim is seamless conformity to God's Word. If you examine it under a microscope you'll find an error(s). That's why many books have revisions.
