This pic reminds me of a sister years back. She was rather husky in size and when in field service, would loudly thump on the doors with her beefy fist. I remember we approached a home and the people inside ignored her knocks. She proceeded to hit the door so hard that the door and door frame would flex with each blow. The funny thing was she actually thought that the quicker she could get the message out, the faster Jehovah would murder the wicked and she would be relaxing in paradise for eternity.

Bible study
by radar indo you remember the times when you felt so good because you had done your bible study for the week.
that you not only had pleased god but you were obediant to the faithfull and discreet slave class.. that you thought that you belonged to a wonderfull organisation and you would do anything to show your loyalty, even if it meant death?.
well these poor women are under the very same cult mentality.

C. T. Russell Must Be Rolling In His Grave
by KD inyears ago i remember reading an old book about the life of charles t. russell.
as a young man, russell was indignant with the major churches and at night used to write scornful letters and placed them on the buildings for the public to see.
he used harsh phrases such as "off spring of vipers" and "harlots".

GOZZ....
I never knew that Russell and Rutherford were disfellowshiped posthumously. Sort of like the Mormons baptizing the dead, but only in reverse. This "new light" stuff if new to me. I resently obtained the new Daniel book. I went from page to page trying to find the formula that results in the year 1914. I could not find it printed and this "new light" business is explaining a lot.
Thanks for the information

Years ago I remember reading an old book about the life of Charles T. Russell. As a young man, Russell was indignant with the major churches and at night used to write scornful letters and placed them on the buildings for the public to see. He used harsh phrases such as "off spring of vipers" and "harlots". He would ridicule the preachures for lying to their flocks and dealing with politicians.
About 25 years have passed by since I read that dusty old book. As I sit here now, I remember how I used to explain to people at the door that Jehovahs Witnesses are separate from the world, just like the first century christians. (Boy was I wrong)
The more I hear about waivering on doctrines, mind control, lying, shunning and now getting in bed with the U.N., the more I feel that the Organization is no different than the churches that Russell used to despise. Yup, Mr. C.T. Russell must be real proud of his his church now!!

Anything with "ICE", i.e., Bud Ice, Molson Ice or Icehouse. They are 5.5% vs. the normal 3.3%. That means more of a buzz for your money!! Oh and let's not forget Red Wolf.

CO sheparding call today!!
by mole inthats right, the co along with one of the local elders paid an unexpected visit to my wife and i this morning.
i was just busting at the seam to bring up the un fiasco but i refrained as they do not know i have made my journey to the darkside.
my wife just glared with the "looks that kill" as they spewed the usual "time is near better not persue a career" line and i should be providing "spiritually" for the family.

Hi Mole,
My hat is off to you for finishing school. No mater what the Elders tell you, you family comes first. I am sure things are still the same since I left years back. I remember back in high school, my best friend whom was brain washed at the same time as myself by a JW teacher, gave up a career in electronics. He had a very high score in the Navy entrance test but did not pursue that for the so called "Truth". He then went to college to study electronics and quit after the first semester to start aux. pioneering. He later changed to full time pioneering. Not sure what he is doing now but the last I heard was that he's married with several kids and does odd jobs to put food on the table. Others that I went to school with that had good grades are getting by with their families by doing janitorial work. They bought into that garbage being spewed out to them about cleaning offices at night while preaching during the day. After I was df'ed, I heard about an elder whom sold his house and moved his family into apartment so he and his wife could full time pioneer. He was convinced that the end would come by 1984. I often wonder what he is doing now? Also remember that JW activities make no difference on a resume. Well I can go on and on with this subject. So once again congradulations.

The three reasons we leave the "Truth"
by sleepy inseems to me there are mainly three roads most of us have taken.
1.we did something "wrong" and were disfellowshipped and after felt able to look at the society in a different light.. 2.we didn't like the "truth" and were looking for a way out.. 3.we wanted it to be the truth but were overcome by the mountain of evidence against it.. which is the most common i wonder.. also do our motives play a large part in how we deal with information criticising the org.. without a reason to act information seems useless.. for instance if a person feels he has nothing to gain by leaving the org will he read different things into the same info as us?.
i think so and that all who leave must have a reason to do so, something to gain.. this does not make their reasoning wrong or prove they we are looking for just excuse.. but is a normal way in which humans deals with information.. two humans can have the same information but if they want or desire different things they may use the information differently.. maybe thats wht so many say "where else is there to go?

I guess reason #2 fit my situation also. I was brain washed into the organization while in high school and baptized before graduation. Soon after graduation I wanted to do "worldy things", but still thought it was the Truth. I still held on for a few years but could not stand being harassed by the Elders to attend meetings and field service. I figured that I would die at the end anyways, so why stay with it?
At that time I worked the night shift at a hospital and was asked to donate blood to a person in surgery. I figured, "what the hell, I am going to die any way". I let them have a pint and when the Elders made their next harassing phone call to me, I told them what I did and was not repentant for it. This was my ticket out and was df'ed the next day.
For many years I still thought the JW was the true religion. Later on in life, after moving to another state, I figured I would give it another try. I attended a Kingdom Hall for several months. During this time I found several changes in their teachings. I was also present in the w.t. study meeting when they spoke about the change in "This Generation". I was shocked and looked around the hall. They all sat there and accepted this change blindly! It was there that I wondered if this was the real truth.
I still continued to attend as a df'ed person and endured the shunning. I soon stopped attending after several weeks. This was several years ago and I am still amazed that people stay with it blindly. Now I am hearing that the Organization has made small changes with the blood issue and is in bed with the United Nations. I don't recall ever reading about Jesus and others waivering on God's laws. Ya....some Truth!!! I wonder if the JW's are allowed to donate blood, if my old congration will undisfellowship me?
I do agree with your last paragraph......the older members do stay because of security and friendly suport.

Hi Radar...I have been df'ed for 20 year now and still wonder about some of the JW's that I grew up with. I don't miss the organization, just some of them. Shunning is bad!! But every time I read through the topics and comments, I feel a common bond with each of you here.
Thanks Radar.

Since leaving the JW's, I pursued every activity that was not considered to be "spiritual up building". I had fun examining other religions, went to college (fraternity life!!) and became a ham radio operator to communicate with "worldly people" around the globe. Later in life I joined the Masons and work at many activities such as blood drives. Oh...if the Elders could see me now!!

what brought you out?
by uncle_onion ini was intersted in what brought "you" out.. with me it was the 607 bce thing.
i always followed the org and would have died for it but when i saw the fallacy of the 607 date that blew it for me.
i am now on a quest to try and find something to feel comfortable with.

As for me, it was many small issues such as being molded into somebody I was not!!
Before studying with the JW's in my Junior year of High School, I wanted a career in law enforcement since age 15. After my baptism during my Senior year, it was still on my mind and was told that it would be a personal choice because I would be carrying a weapon that may take another life.
After High School, as my former friends (non JW's), that I used to play school sports with, joined the military or went to college, I became a security guard until I would turn 21. Well I went to meetings and field service on week ends. As time went on I was being encouraged into aux. pioneering. I did not enjoy field service much and soon started to rebell. I also started to question certain beliefs such as neutrality and personal defense. The bible gives many examples of defending your homes and territory. How was this country founded or even defended?
Well the day came when I turned 21 and started my quest in a law enforcement career. The elders went nuts!! Oh by the way, I was sharing an apartment with a full time pioneer who was my best friend before JW and had joined the same time as myself. Well I sent resume's to different police departments. As the applications came to our apartment, he would run and squeel to the elders. I was met with more and more oposition.
I soon moved out and got a place of my own and also stopped attending
meetings. I was being harassed more than ever. I realized the mind control that the elders had. My eyes were opening more and more towards there tricks. I started questioning more and more issues and wanted out in the worst way.Well it was by chance that my security job was at the local hospital. I worked the night shift and was paged to the emergency room one particulat night. Upon arrival I passed an elderly woman crying in the waiting room. I went to the desk and was told that the elderly woman's husband was dying and he needed a transfusion. It was myself and 2 nurses in the whole hospital had his blood type. I instantly said no and walked off. After a minute I thought about it, since the blood issue was one of the things that I questioned. I returned and donated a pint of my "soul". As I started to leave the emergency room, I was called back by the elderly woman. Her sons helped her to her feet and she walked up to me with tears rolling down her face. She brought her hand up to my face and thanked me.
The rest is history.....The next day I wrote a letter to the elders and told what had happened. I was out in a flash.
I never did enter law enforcement. I later went to college the following year.
One point of interest which I will save for a later story is the fact that most of the elders whom DFed me are either now DFed, resigned or stopped attending all together.

Hello to everyone out there. I live outside the Boston area and have been DFed for about 20 years. I first got involved with JW's as a teenager and DFed in early 20's. After being DFed I entered college and relocated to Massachusetts upon graduation. It was during this time that out of loneliness that I tried to go back to their "Truth". Each time I was made to feel like dirt and would soon quit going to meetings. Last years my eyes were opened to their lies and now I just scan the internet just to keep tabs on any changes and such, to their way of thinking.
Last week I found this site and have much enjoyment reading the postings each day and seeing how there are others out there with similar experiences as myself. I have many interesting stories and personal observations that I will soon comment on in other postings.
So once again hello and thanks for being here....
