Damn you Watchtower!
by IslandWoman intwo women came to my door tonight.
they were walking house to house in the dark, offering free deluxe bibles and an invitation to their baptist church!.
their were not giving a practiced presentation, they were not condemning other religions, they were not looking down on me and my family.

If you really think about it, there is a lot of kindness out there and many kind hearted people too who live in "the world" or "worldly people". Leave it to the WTS to constantly focus on all the evil and hate that exists and constantly leaving it's members in fear. The members should watch carefully all the video footage of 911 and see how worldly or non-jw people really lend a hand to help their fellow human beings. They could take a lesson from this!!!

What did you REALLY think about the banned things
by SpannerintheWorks inwhat prompted this topic was when an ex-jw ( ex-elder ) friend of mine told me that once when he was doing a "car" witness with three others, near to christmas time, they lost one of them!
after a bit of searching along the route, the others eventually found him in a house, eating a mince pie and drinking a glass of brandy!.
my friend reminded him that he shouldn't be participating in these " worldly things.

While I was in it, I still celebrated holidays with my parents. Hell pass up turkey and stuffing the way my dad made it!! Are you kidding!! Now that my dad has been dead for a number of years, I miss the holiday cooking more than ever.
Oh, by the way. The reason why I was df'ed was that I donated my blood to a dying man whom I did not know. I told the Elders that I had no regrets and would do it again.

How many would have stayed?
by freedom96 inmy lost new posting topic made me think of this question:.
if the wts was more normal, how many would have stayed?.
was it in fact the teachings that made you leave?
-
KD
While I was in it, I always questioned several aspects of the teachings but excepted it any ways. If it was not for their control of my life I may have stayed. There were somethings about it that I enjoyed and all my friends were there too. But in a way it seems that after I left, my whole life and veiw of thinking broadened.
