I don't know. They generally come across as being reactive rather than proactive and if they were being led by the HS I would have expected much more of the latter.

I'm feeling disappointed now
by Nobleheart ini've been in this board for 2 months now, and have read and researched enough to know that what i thought was the one and only true religion isn't actually true.
finding out real facts has brought me severe disillusion and sadness.
as a jw i was taught that we were special in view of john 6:44 "no man can come to me unless the father, who sent me, draws him; and i will resurrect him in the last day.".

When I came to know the truth about the WT, I was disappointed, mad and angry at the GB for propagating and enforcing false teachings. Now I'm a bit angry with God (I'm still a believer though). How could He not see that I was sincere and wanted to be part of his people (if he has a chosen group on earth). Why did he allow me to become part of a false organization?
Please don't lose your love for God, there is a reason for everything. You would recall your studies about "Why does God allow suffering". Pretty much the same principles apply to religion. This isn't God's world that we are living in at the moment, it is Satan's, he is controlling everything that he can and manipulating us through religion is included. You're anger should be focused at him.
I don't believe that he is not with many sincere and faithfull JWs and also many others not of that faith. He reads what is in our hearts.
What is really hard to do initially is seperate your feelings about the GB from God. Their brainwashing had taught us to believe that they were speaking straight from God and they were the only ones that had that chanel between us and him. For many years I felt that because I had left the organization that I had also turned my back on God, they teach us this and it sticks but it is not true at all.

Brotherdan seems like he really DID leave

Brotherdan it is something that you've come back on to try to make things right with Zids, just follow up on it. Once the right thing is done and it is all settled it will seem trivial in comparison.
I am so sorry to hear about your wife, it can't be easy for you and in cases like this there is no book written that tells you what to do in your situation. In my situation I felt a great deal of helplessness and alarm that things could go so far. The possibility of another attempt is always there and very much changes the way you treat that person. The medication that the patient takes is an added problem as it sometimes alters their mind also. It is very painful and like dealing with a long term illness. The fact that you want to be there for her and support her should surely help and is the best thing that you can do. Unfortunately you have the added responsibility of being the head of the household.
It can't be easy to support her by attending the meetings, which goes much further than just being in attendance.

Lying about divorce reason to be allowed to re-marry
by Big Softie ini know my view on this but would be interested to see what anyone else thinks.. .
at a court hearing recently my estranged wife, who left me (i'm not jw) asked me if i would be prepared to lie to her elders and state that i had committed adultery (i didn't) so that she would be allowed to "get on in her faith".
this from a woman who before she left got intimate (emotionally, i'm not sure about physically) with two "sisters", one of whom took to buying her large bunches of red roses and basicaly furnished her new house for her.. now my view is that she has clearly stated and put in writing that the marriage ended because of my unreasonable behaviour (i.e.

Definately don't do it. Honesty is the best policy. Seriously, you will be compromising yourself. You don't say what your beliefs are about God but if you do worship him (in your own way) then it would amount to a serious offence.
Consider how your actions might come back to 'bite' you. For instance, you have kids and they may make some detrimental judgements about you if you lie.

Introduction
by dontplaceliterature inbefore i begin my introductory post, i would like to mention that a number of my initial comments here may be viewed by several of you as watchtower apologist or as sympathetic to the views of the jehovahs witnesses.
the last thing i want to do is incite a flame war regarding my legitimacy or intentions in joining this forum.
mostly, i would describe myself as on the fence.

What a thread. It is really drawing out some sincere, well explained views.
Your frustration about the witnessing work DPL is not surprising. There has been some analysis of how effective that work is on this forum, it looks like the figures are reviewed each year. It would take an average publisher a lifetime plus to have just one person reach the baptismal stage and that may even be a family member. It is very hard to understand why there is such a push for this work when the method used is so inefective. God does love us to be active and hardworkers but the bible always talks about fruitful success from this and as we are made in his image, achievements are very important.
You have written a great post KnockKnock and I would be very interested to know if you have written anything else that adds to this. You have your comments well backed up with scriptures. I had been wondering if the JWs really did have the Truth and started doing some research. The internet has been great for this. The first thing that I started looking at was the stance that the org. says Jesus is mediator only to the annointed. I couldn't believe that having grown up as a JW that this was actually taught. Then I found that looking into this led from one issue to another. That is, how the Kingdom of God is not for the Great Crowd at this point in time, also that Jesus' sacrifice and the new covenant (there being the main one and an additional one in JW land) was also only for the annointed and that the great crowd were only beneficieries in all of this. These few men have closed the door for a great number I wondered why this detail was not clear to me originally but when researching the publications I got to see how clever they were in making this very confusing. They use bible quotes out of context, they use the same quotes to mean different things and they make statements which are not supported properly by the scriptures.
There are many witnesses who are truelly sincere and work hard at doing God's will, I admire them for that. They are not alone though and the org will shout from their tower that they are. The real problem I have is with the leaders.

What term do you think is more appropriate than Rank and File? Although they will one day be 'subjects' they are not even that at the moment. The term Bothers and Sisters is just a conjured up title as they are not even spiritual Brothers and Sisters (unless annointed).

delema... thoughts of not deprograming son
by Aussie Oz inthis might sound a little strange but i hope some of you might understand.. my 17 year old boy is hot and heavy with his jw girlfriend.
he told me the other day that they had talked about getting married an two or three years, how they want to travel the world before having kids etc.
i asked him where getting baptised fitted into this, as they will need to be baptised if they want a kh wedding.

Abosolutely brilliant Zids! Here in Australia he has a good opportunity to even get an apprenticeship in a Trade, that can be 2 to 4 years long and an excellant start to his adulthood. That 'manly' talk should egg him on.
Why I like this idea so much is because it is much more subtle and won't cause any division. If you can't win him over on this issue then you're not going to be able to win him over on the deprogramming.

WTS ADVICE FOR YOUNG WOMEN WANTING TO MARRY
by still wondering inwait, speak to deborah first.. .
the upside of this approach is that deborah is a real woman and will be able to give you girls proper advice.. the downside is that you will either need to first find a top rate medium (shes been dead quite a while) or wait for rutherfords god to bring her back from the dead (which rutherford maintains will happen any day real soon now if not even before the convention ends).. you will easily recognise her as rutherford has thoughtfully printed a picture of her in the new and bang up to date children book.. unfortunately if you dont live in the usa you will need to telephone her, which thankfully has recently been invented.
expect to hang on the line a while as she will be very busy playing her agony aunt role for so many jws worldwide all seeking her advice, but rutherford says that it will be well worth the wait.. .

Why GB does not want couples to have children?
by faqs7719 ini was thinking the other day about this.
i guess you have seen many couples who have not had children.
the main reason given is that it is difficult to raise children in the last days.

Well put Clarity. They are obsessed, even to the point of ignoring the Divine Arrangement. They love to brag that they have done one better than the World. They are not having children not because of careers or finances but to do God's work. They're hatred for the world and it's ways makes them rejoice in finding ways that make them different.
Some of them presume to think that they will be able to have children in the New System and what a great presumption that is. This self judgement demonstrates that they believe they are good enough to be saved and will be saved but also they presume to declare already what God will or will not let them do.
They know that the resurrected for a start will not be able to have children. They have no idea what the New System will bring (they say that book isn't opened yet). They think that they are going to tiptoe through the most turbulent time this world has ever seen, with earthquakes, pestilences and all sorts of natural disasters even before mankind turns on himself and then finally God's steps in so that all are not destroyed.
