  i was just thinking about that scripture, 2 john 9-11, if i remember correctly.

  jehovah's witnesses use it to justify their shunning of members who have been expelled.

  a thought just occurred to me about it.

  You make a very valid point SD 7. Meetings form an important part of their worship and they allow disfellowshipped ones to participate with them in this sacred activity. Of course they would never ban Df'd ones from attending the hall due to legal issues and their status as a religion.

  I Got a Call from "Microsoft" This Morning....

  and it was a scam.

  just a heads up to you all.

  i hung up on the guy and googled "microsoft called me at home" to find that this has been going on in the uk and australia for years.

  We were getting a call every week for over a year and they will not take no for an answer. I've tried everything to make them stop talking. They are from an Indian call centre.

  I've tried making them feel guilty by explaining how they are lying and shouldn't be doing that for a living. I also say that it makes their country look very bad. One guy was upset and told me how he had to make a living as he was going through college and it was the firm to blame, not him, at least he was being honest and I thanked him for that and said I hoped his college education went well. Another guy got very angry with me and said he was going to hijack my computer. I told him it wasn't possible but then I realized that these guys are computer lit. and our wifi connection goes through the same telephone line that I was speaking on so I thought I had better hang up.

  This is not the only scam the Indian call centres are doing. Another one is calling up and saying they are from the Canberra Government Centre and there is money that is claimable.

  I feel sorry for the guys that have put themselves in the position of needing money to do this type of work.

  Since the wt is discredited, what is the pillar and support of truth now?

  since the wt with its doctrines past and present is discredited, is there an entity that can be shown to be the latter- day "-----pillar and support of truth---" paul was writing about at i tim 3:15.?

  have the believers or non-theists or exjws an equivalent at all ?

  because humans like to huddle around the fire for the radiant heat.

  we had to go off grid for a time, time and half a time as we thought we had been outed.

  fortunately it was a false alarm, but it was a stressful time.

  i asked for my original diary thread to be deleted in case there could be anything on there to identlfy mrs smith and i. i am always very careful when posting, and am sure there was nothing on there, but felt it best to have it removed in order to be as cautious as a dove.

  You would get a lot more responses if you posted this on a different thread. It is amazing how readily members on here are willing to make suggestions but many of them wouldn't have picked up on this story.

  It will be interesting. JWs feel special because of the persecution. Growing up I attended a few assemblies that were interupted by bombing threats.

  Sorry to hear that your sister is going through a very difficult time, she certainly needs all your help and support. Please be very careful with your reply to her as it is very much a time where she needs personal advice and not to be thrown more confusion into the situation by your own position. It may just throw her into the deep end if she knows exactly how far you have moved away from the organization. Having said that, do make it very clear to her that she has your complete support no matter what she does and that she always will have. You could even explain why you take that stand as opposed to a conditional love.

  What you have said already is great. By getting her to examine just how biblical the actions and advice of the Elders are. Explain to her that the Elders are limited in their actions, not just by their own imperfections but by the instructions that are clearly set out to them by the Governing Body. That even if there was a different set of elders trying to deal with her circumstances that the responses would most like be identical.

  It is amazing that they will tell others to follow the advice set out in the bible without being helpful in personcal circumstances and yet they will deal with a situation according to what their superiors advise rather than according to their own bible trained conscience and heartfelt understanding. To start discussing and reviewing their 'privelages' is beyond inconsiderate and wise.
