Service Meeting Part about Sisters Wearing Head Coverings

this week's service meeting had another part about women wearing head coverings.there's already been a post about it, but i would like some thoughts from the forum on the scripture referenced.

11: 3-10. i want to focus on verses 4-6. it says this (nnwt):.

"4)every man who prays or prophesies with something on his head shames his head; 5) but every woman who prays or prophesies+ with her head uncovered shames her head, for it is one and the same as if she were a woman with a shaved head.

Just recalling how this issue of women's head coverings was raised. There were instructions for JW sisters to wear head coverings at the door if she is conducting a study and a male JW is with her in the Nov 2013 KM.

Ttattelder posted the scripture that this idea is based on and it made me realize once again just how sexist the org is.

1Cor. 11: 4 states -

Here in Australia hats were very common prior to the 70s and brothers often wore them out witnessing. Then again in the 90s hats once again made their appearance, we were warned of how dangerous the sun is here (apparently we have a hole in the ozone layer) and the problem of increasing the risk of skin cancers. I have seen the brothers go out in door to door work wearing a hat, it's a sensible thing to do.

I have not come across any instructions for brothers not to wear a hat whilst preaching or whilst giving a study at the doorstep. The GB once again prove how sexist they are and how they love lording it over the sisters.

Anonymouz I don't ignore your posts but they are usually very hard to read. This last post of yours is well written and I can comprehend it for a change.

I don't know how you can guarantee that this will take at least 10 years, is there bible backing for that guarantee?

Also, although the org has a lot of money it is not that significant in the grand scale of economies and their monies would just be a drop in the ocean if it was to go towards funding a global government, I don't understand why they would bother if they can instead hold onto 7 million followers which won't happen if they cannot finance the organization any longer.

lu is a chinese word for street, and it may be one of the first chinese words a visitor learns, particularly if their hotel is sited near this street.. i'd like to show you what life is like innanjing lu, its attractions and its scams.. so first of, what can you see.

Thanks for sharing Fulltimestudent. I've read what you wrote but didn't click on the links other than the bridge which is amazing.

Who knows what the future holds for China but it wouldn't surprise me if they become the most powerful nation.

Hubby and I have made several trips to Hong Kong/Macu and really enjoy our visits there. We don't want to visit China for several reasons, including the difficulty in obtaining a Visa (we're Australian), the language barrier and a few other things but Shanghai might be a very interesting place to go to.

One thing is for sure. The pollution from China is disgraceful and for it to become as bad as it is shows there is very little humanity from China's rulership. It is inhumane both on a health level and on the enjoyment of nature. All their advancements just aren't worth the cost people have to pay.

a newly baptized brother is married, and he and his wife have three small children.

one day, a workmate suggested that he and the brother move to another company that paid a higher wage and provided more benefits.

He did not choose the job that paid 'more benefits', could that possibly have included health care? With three children chances are he regretted that decision.

Jona received a report from a brother who visits the Philippine branch office in Quezon City on an almost daily basis. According to him, there are an unconfirmed number of 34 brothers dead from the typhoon. That report was modified by the branch, which issued a report of 26 confirmed dead. All of them had sought shelter in a Kingdom Hall in Tacloban, and were killed when the storm surge swept the building away.

Sounds like they don't want to count the children (unbaptized)/

the latest edition of the free in christ ministries journal contains a very interesting article entitled the watchtower and masons.. drawing upon material from the book the watchtower & the masons by fritz springmeier, it gives the following parallels between the things that c t russell believed and those taught by the masons:.

* both believe jehovah is the most important word being the basis of their dogma, and the name of their god.

* both believe god yielded power to a lesser god.

Some very in depth discussions have been made on this thread. When people take great lengths to prove and explain their own reasonings there is going to be debate.

The WBTBS would most likely have access to Russel's original works and personal letters. Maybe the many comments brought out in this thread are another reason why they have disassociated him from being the Faithfull & Discreet Slave.

It's not a school for everyone.

If you're married and you're partner doesn't want to attend or is not a JW you're not invited.

If you're old, you're not invited.

If you're middle aged and poor you're not invited.

I would assume that you must also be physically in good health.
