OF DOGS AND BITES AND BIKES AND THINGS
by Terry inthe thought suddenly struck me plain and obvious: "these dogs won't stop until i'm good and bloody.".
there were two of them; a mixed breed of boxer and pit bull; clean, white--collared, tagged and--for some inexplicable reason, ferociously intent on tearing me to shreds!.
ah, but i'm getting ahead of myself.

That's awful Terry. It's not enough that the dogs will be quarantined for ten days and the owner fined. Can you make a small claim out of it and take him to court? It is not a difficult thing to do yourself without the need for a lawyer. -

On jw org, regarding the question about birthdays, it says
"Children of witness parents do not feel deprived"
This is a straight out lie. It might be true of some children but that does not make the statement true. Guilting your son will not make it true either.

How to survive an assembly
by BlackWolf inhey i was just wondering if you guys had any ideas on how to keep my brain occupied while i'm at an assembly tommorow.
maybe besides tallying the number of times they say jehovah and jesus or counting how many people are wearing red.
i want to keep myself from going insane or having some kind of panic attack lol.

Take notes on your notepad with the focus on increasing your typing speed.
Do math sums in your head.
Focus on the people around you and try to work out what they are doing to distract themselves.
Think of a hobby you are interested in and try to come up with ideas of how you can do it better or create new ideas.
Pretend you are going to write a book and come up with a detailed story plot and different characters to include.

Warwick Photo Gallery No. 3 is up again on JW org. From what I can tell all the photo's are there, however there is a difference.
Warwick Photo Gallery No. 1 and No. 2 allows you to look at 20 photos as part of a library. Gallery No. 3 only allows you to look closely at 19 photos although there are 20 photo thumbnails and 20 photos originally. The 20th photo that cannot be enlarged or shown as part of the library is the internal picture of the swanky living quarters/flat.
Walkill Photo Gallery No 2 is still not up.
For those that made negative comments about my comment regarding 35% of workers being female, even going as far as calling me a bigot, would you like to explain why the org apparently does not want to accommodate females come Jan. 2016?
The link to that information can be found here

THE WATCHTOWER (STUDY EDITION) JANUARY 2016
by wifibandit inpdf .
this issue contains the study articles for february 29 to april 3, 2016.. what about the number of those partaking at the memorial?12, 13. why should we not worry about the number of those who eat the bread and drink the wine at the memorial?12 in recent years, we have seen an increase in the number of those partaking at the memorial of christs death.
that trend contrasts with the decrease in the number of partakers that we saw for many decades.

How is it possible to have a gradual realisation? It's not even possible to think that you are partly anointed. -

The GB are talking about themselves when they say this. How do they know that some who claim they are anointed only do so because they have mental or emotional problems? They themselves are doing the judging by claiming so.
What really bothers me is when they quote scripture and say that God knows those that belong to him because they are saying that most jws and every other Christian don't.
One week they say it's not important to know who are anointed and the next week they say that your salvation depends upon supporting the anointed.

Do they notice who no longer gives donations?
by onightdivine inbecause i haven't put in a single dime for over a year now in the box at the kh.
the usual custom is to put money in there right after the meetings.
but heck, i already spend so much in car fuel just to attend - i don't care really if the gb starves and dies.. oops.. anyway, do the elders take note who's donating and who's not?.

I hardly ever saw anyone put money into the box because I didn't look. If someone notices that you haven't donated then they must be keeping watch on everyone which makes them look pretty bad if they were to say anything. -

Watchtowers million dollar scam
by GeddyLee inback in the late eighties i was on the committee to build our cities new double kingdom hall so that all five halls would be under one roof.
we needed to come up with five hundred thousand dollars to complete the new hall, so we had a kingdom hall fund drive where the local brothers would raise the needed funds.
after two years we had collected the half million dollars, and guess where that money went????????

Crazyguy, more than likely, dropping interest charges were due to changes in legislation. If they were loaning money and requiring interest then they would be seen to be a loan company and be subject to stringent requirements and possibly taxation. It is possible that legislation was further refined and it didn't matter if they were charging interest or not.

JW Sister: raped, pregnant what does she do?, abortion or adoption?
by Olivia Wilde inthis question came out frequently from a situation known to some of us who knew of 2 cases.... if a single or married sister gets rapped by stranger or incest, a pregnancy results, she is not allowed to have an abortion but neither is she allowed to give it up for adoption?...i always question why not up for adoption?...
no you will be blood guilty because the child won't be raised in the "truth"... hmmmmm does anyone heard of that?
is it a matter of consciousness?

Here's a link to a JW section of an adoption forum.
https://adoption.com/forums/thread/331698/jehovah-039-s-witness-looking-to-adopt-from-foster-care/
On person mentions that there is an Awake article that supports single JW females adopting children but they don't say which Awake it was.
Another person states that a person who wants to adopt their child out can specify that they only want their child to go to persons of a particular religion.
I knew of a Canadian JW couple that adopted an Asian girl because they weren't able to have one naturally. The JW girl became pregnant when she was about 18 and still single. The father was also a JW, his father was an elder. The Canadian couple adopted the child.

Shunning legal since 1987
by TheWonderofYou inlegality[edit].
in june 1987, the united states court of appeals for the 9th circuit upheld the witnesses' right to shun those who fail to live by the group's standards and doctrines, upholding the ruling of a lower court, finding that "shunning is a practice engaged in by jehovah's witnesses pursuant to their interpretation of canonical text, and we are not free to reinterpret that text ... the defendants are entitled to the free exercise of their religious beliefs ... the members of the church [she] decided to abandon have concluded that they no longer want to associate with her.
we hold that they are free to make that choice."[99][100].

The WTBTS is being challenged in Sweden because of some of their practices, including shunning. The org. is still fighting to be recognized as a religion and receive all the benefits that come with it, including taxation and Government Funding.
