Yes, I am concerned that there is a money grab going on but not on her part. I wonder if she is being taken advantage of and the delay in getting this book available doesn't do anything to allay those doubts.

You're right Hadriel- it is her choice and with that, most of what has occurred (or not occurred) since she received the Copyright and what occurs in the future is a direct reflection on her.
As for people expecting it to be sorted out in 24 hours, I think you are over exaggerating

Under WT rules, can JW women file for a divorce? Or can only men file?
by JimmyPage inthe reason i ask is because while watching the "dateline" episode about ralph candelario, the claim was made that only jw men could file for divorce, not women.

i had never thought about this before.. also, how does this apply in cases where a husband is "apostate" while the wife is faithful to wt?

Their definition of adultery is rarely clearly explained. Maybe the reason for that issue to their flip flopping on the issue.
I understand it currently means the same as pornea with the only difference being marriage.
Pornea involves the manipulation of sexual organs (but not breasts, no doubt the divorce rate would be even greater if it included this).
At one stage adultery didn't include sex with a person of the same sex or an animal.
This is a suspicion but I bet it does not include child sexual abuse. One of the RC case studies helps to confirm this.

You are correct Jimmy. A partner can divorce under those circumstances but would not be able to remarry until their partner committed adultery. Fortunately, their definition of adultery is pretty broad and goes beyond sexual intercourse with a person of the opposite sex. -

Why does an innocent mate have to work with their partner in strengthening the marriage if they choose to forgive their partner for committing adultery?
They are basically saying that the innocent mate has to shoulder some of the blame. Whilst this may be the case at times, it is not always.
It's almost as if they don't want the innocent mate to forgive.

Hadriel, I get the feeling that you think that some of us have an evil agenda.
Our agenda is to want to see the book readily and cheaply available.
If you and the Copyright owner have a different agenda then it goes some way to explaining the delays.

It was a brilliant idea for the organisation to ban birthdays, it provided a number of benefits for them. Along with the ones already mentioned, these are some more-
Free advertising. Not celebrating gets the JWs noticed.
Control. I he org has been able to weild it's own strength by imposing rules that aren't even biblical.
Individual unworthiness. This is important in a cult
It gets children trained from a young age to be identified as someone weird and different.

Hadriel, even without the 2008 changes, the book will and has helped a countless number of people. It's not dumb to want to see even the old version available.
If a lot of this delay has been due to a few small changes then I hope that the Copyright owner feels all the money and time spent was worthwhile.
The bottom line is that the book is virtually unavailable and has been for some time.
It just stinks and it wouldn't surprise me in the least if there are people making a pretty penny from the owner and concocting stories in order to make more.

Although it would be interesting to read the 2008 additions, they are not important. The older versions hold their own worth by tenfold. It's such a shame the book is still not readily available but is now even more difficult to access. The Watchtower must be dancing for joy whilst many of us are saddened because we know it's value in helping others. -

A question regarding district convention finances
by JeffT ini don't recall ever hearing a financial report at one of the big summer conventions.
do i have blocked memories, or are they even more secretive about money at that level than they are at the circuit events?
i'm doing a little research on the instructions for handling circuit assembly accounts and that got me curious about the bigger conventions.
