If that's the case Vanderhoven, then you may need to consider a new strategy. It is likely that the big gun won't be interested in discussing doctrines but turn it on you to see what your motive is. He will probably have a pre determined idea of what it is. He'll tell you that they are not there to debate.
Stephen and Ruth have so far shown that they are sincere in discussing issues with you and if you can show Stephen that the attitude of the big gun is wrong, judgmental or uncalled for it might have some positive effect. You'll need to demonstrate your sincerity in wanting to know what they have to say. -

When GB Members Travel...Do They Stay With Members?
by Cold Steel inor do they stay at hotels?
do most jws know who's on the governing body?
if one just showed up at church would he be immediately recognized?

Explain the difference between the Governing Body and the various legal corporations. [H-14; w01 4/15 29, fourth question] [1]
While directors of a legal corporation are voted into office by its members, the Governing Body is ffi
not appointed by any man but is appointed by Jesus Christ. This is an official statement made by them. This is an example of their receipt. They explain how individual directors are appointed but only explain how the Governing Body Class is appointed, they fail to explain how the individual Governing Body members are selected.
GB members also stay at Bethel Branches. They have been buying up smaller luxury residences and state they are language translation centres and it is possible that they stay there as well.

Apparently, only they are allowed to quote and make hay out of anything earlier than last month.
They don't seem to be very clear about their own teachings. It seems like it is becoming more common these days that they are personally rejecting ideas in older articles if they cannot reconcile with them. Maybe a better position would be to have them back up any views that they express by asking for a scripture to support it. As you point out, they can't do this.
I wonder if this is a new problem that is arising amongst the Witnesses but it seems that instead of being fully aware that they cannot answer a question, they immediately deal with this CD by feeling they are being persecuted or that Satan is just trying to shake their faith. You become the problem, not them.
A few decades ago, JWs had complete confidence that they had the truth, that they could answer any question put to them and they were right. The difference is, back then, it was very rare for JWs to be confronted with difficult questions. Most of the questions they would be confronted with were dealt with in their publications and could be researched if they could not recall something instantly but not the ones that we are asking today.
The organization has left them high and dry. They are expected to deal with the issues on their own. This is evident when Splane came up with a scripture that he thought supported the 'generation' teaching and told his sheep to meditate and come up with their own scripture to support it. Maybe the real persecution is coming from their leaders by way of undefendable doctrines.
It's amazing that they find themselves in such a difficult position when they have a huge resource available to them, one that they never had a few decades ago - JW org.
It becomes more and more evident why the message these days is one of obedience. -

Midweek meeting video
by aboveusonlysky indid anybody see the service meeting video this week?.
australian sister was sexually abused as a child and thought of ending her life at 14 years old, sometime later jw's call on her father who accepts a study and eventually the whole family becomes witnesses, life gets much better as the sister immerses herself in pioneering etc, she still has some dark days but prayer along with going for walks and swimming has helped her cope with bad memories of child abuse, the new system (just around the corner) will completely fix everything......... i'm dumbfounded, the hypocrisy has literally rendered me speechless......comments anybody?.

Not once do they say what happened to the abuser or for the victim to seek out therapy.
I think the whole purpose of the video was to tell those abused that having dark days is normal and all they need to do is pray on the matter, keep themselves occupied physically and to leave the matter to God.

I like the way you think Mr Vanderhoven. What point was the most successful in getting them to think?

He kept saying you were a funny guy. I get the feeling that this was just an attempt in his own mind to not take you seriously or to consider that what you were saying were just amusing tales.
I like Lou, he was prepared to ask questions.

Who writes Awake! ?
by Drwho injust a quick question.
who actually writes the awake!
and the watchtower publications ?

Dr Who, your friend has made a reasonable assumption. Look at all the material written by Russell and then Rutherford. Now there are 8 GB members you would think they would have more than enough man power to write the little material they are producing these days.

They are now stumbling around in the dark. They have no oil left in their lamps because they used it all on their false dates.

If Watchtower can use a non-sequitur to say that Jesus now knows the day and the hour, despite Matthew 24:36 ....
by Island Man in... where's the good sense preventing them from again making a date prediction for the end and using a non-sequitur to justify their claim in the face of matthew 24:36?
"... but christ has been empowered in heaven to wage war against satan's world.
(rev 19:11-16) thus, it is reasonable to conclude that jesus now knows when armageddon will occur...." - watchtower july 2016, page 14, par.

There reason for saying that Jesus knows the date is because he has been commissioned to fight the war. On that basis then the anointed must also know the date because they say that they will be fighting the war along with Jesus.
