Judge sanctions WTS - $4k per day penalty for not producing sex abuse documents
by Simon injudge sanctions jehovah's witnesses.
imposes $4000-a-day penalty for not producing documents in sex-abuse case.
by dorian hargrove, june 24, 2016. a san diego superior court judge has ordered the church of jehovah's witnesses, also known as the watchtower bible and tract society of pennsylvania, to pay $4000 a day for every day that it fails to produce documents requested in a civil lawsuit brought by former parishioner, osbaldo padron, who claims a church elder sexually abused him when he was seven years old.. in a june 23 ruling, expected to be made final today, judge richard strauss admonished the church for willfully ignoring a court order to produce all documents associated with a 1997 body of elders letter that church leaders sent to parishes around the world in a quest to learn about sexual abuse of children by church leaders.. over the course of the past year, the watchtower society and its lawyers have fought hard to keep the letter confidential, claiming that turning over the documents would infringe on the privacy of those mentioned in the letter that were not associated with the case.. in march 2015, the church turned over a heavily redacted version of the letter.

RO - It's not about the Watchtower being responsible for the actions of a third party, the abuser, it's about their own actions. It's annoying that JWs try to reflect the actions of the Watchtower back onto others. If it's not the abuser then it's the parents and horror of horrors, onto the abused who they accuse of lying or worse.

Has WT actually drafted an End of Days tract?
by schnell ini heard in years past that there was such a tract planned for the great tribulation.
my father at the time denied this, and reasoned that that would not be a loving thing for them to do, to essentially say, "told ya so!".
last year, the bunker videos had brother brown mention "a message of judgment".. has such material been drafted or is this just another bluff?.

Now you've given them a great idea (or reminded them of one).
If they printed and stored these tracts in the kingdom halls the JWs would be beside themselves with renewed excitement.

Cooking With Cast Iron
by Simon ini can't even remember what got me interested in pans, probably wanting to try cooking more and watching some cooking videos on youtube, but i kind of started wanting to get a cast-iron skillet specifically so started reading up on them.
hey, if you're going to spend $50 on something you need to study them and create a comparison spreadsheet ... right?.
not only did cast-iron look great for cooking but there are some studies that show risks to aluminium / teflon cookware ... not that the wts was "right" about aluminium, but teflon can give off carcinogenic chemicals if overheated (so what if it chips off into your food?).

It could have been from China because it was really cheap. It did last for well over 10 years. It was the wooden handle that attracted me to it because they are pretty rare here.

I had a cast iron frypan for years. It ended up breaking in half, I don't think it had been oiled enough. I loved it. Unfortunately, it is very heavy and you have to wait until it has cooled down before storing I in the cupboard. I keep getting a non stick frypan for Xmas but will buy another one if I can find one with a wooden handle.
Our camping stores in Australia sell them
I have some gem scone iron pans and a stove top (non electric) iron waffle maker and jaffle maker. They cook beyond compare with their electric, modern day counterparts.

some are unusual, say, part issues of the aid book and a live forever book that has had paragraphs altered in subsequent copies.
i am in hoppers crossing, melbourne.

How to reply when someone asks about your spiritual health
by RodrigoGuerreiro infirst of all, sorry if i cannot correctly express the original expression used in my native language to ask for the "spiritual condition".. a few years ago some member of the family asks my wife directly how is her "spiritual health" (for me it's one of the many strange vocabulary used by jw like "the slave says...").
she was catched by surprise with the direct question and says that everything is ok... and luckily someone call them for lunch.. my question is: do you have any good answers for that question?
you can be ironic/use some humor because the question is a little bit anecdotical .

Marking Talks are back!?!?! - New Name!
by thedepressedsoul inwhen i was younger i used to hear about "marking talks" given in the past.
i believe they stopped in the 80's or 90's.
basically, if someone wasn't baptized or doing something unrepentant, they would get a "marking talk" and be treated the same as a df person.

If it's now changed to a 'warning talk' I wonder if they are planning on introducing more rules for when a JW doesn't head the 'warning'. Maybe this will be an extension on 'brazen behavior'.
