Unfortunately, I don't see any scientific studies to go along with these ideas.

Reveal article: Jehovah’s Witnesses settle suit alleging cover-up of child sex abuse
by AndersonsInfo inhttps://www.revealnews.org/blog/jehovahs-witnesses-settle-lawsuit-alleging-coverup-of-child-sex-abuse/.
by trey bundy / february 17, 2017 .
the jehovah’s witnesses settled a lawsuit this week brought by a pennsylvania woman who says the religion’s leaders covered up sexual abuse she suffered as a teenager.. the settlement came five days into a trial in which stephanie fessler, a former jehovah’s witness, claimed the religion’s parent corporation violated pennsylvania’s child abuse reporting laws by instructing local leaders – known as elders – not to report her allegations to police.. according to fessler, a middle-aged jehovah’s witness woman, terry monheim, began sexually abusing her when she was 14. at 15, fessler disclosed the abuse to her parents.

Fisherman - What does that have to do with the legal duty of the guardians to protect their child physically?
You blamed the parents for not protecting their daughter which resulted in her continued abuse.
Since the father is negligent in his responsibilities in caring for his family why does the Watchtower not take any action against him? He's an Elder to start with. But surely it's a gross sin to be responsible for allowing the sexual abuse of your daughter and as such, why is he not disfellowshipped?

Fisherman - As a result of the parent's failure to protect their child.
The victims father is an elder. Will he be disfellowshipped for this wilful neglect? Will he be stood down for failing to be exemplary?

Anyone read the latest Awake (on the supernatural)?
by LoveUniHateExams injust read some of this latest awake on the org's webshite.. it begins by talking about the 'supernatural' - wizards, witches, vampires, etc.
- their popularity and why they might appeal to people.
then it goes on to state the wt belief that someone is 'behind it'.. now, i like a few horror/scary films - when i was a kid, i always actually liked being a bit scared by them, tbh.. the silence of the lambs, a nightmare on elm street (1984), the ring, the witch, the thing (1982) and a few others are all great, imo.. they are just genres and subgenres of film, that's all.

Good point. They must prove, in the first instance, that witches, wizards and vampires etc. exist and that they have magical/supernatural powers. Only then can they proceed to claim what may be behind it.

Orphan Crow
He thinks he does a great service for the organisation but all he ends up doing is reminding me of the sneaky, dishonest methods employed by the organisation. Even better, he leaves this evidence on forums for all to see.

If he's already Dfd, I doubt the Bro. or Sis. would report it to the Elders, besides, they'd probably get into trouble themselves for talking to a Dfd person.

Perhaps they announced to prevent any internal debates about it. It can't be all sweet smelling roses at HQ these days.

Yes, the definition I posted was from a simple Google search and you conveniently chose to quote only part of it and that part which does not apply.

RO- You're obviously getting bored over at JW Topix.
Why did you use the extended meaning of laity? Have a look at the definition of laity again -
noun- 1.lay people, as distinct from the clergy.
- 2.ordinary people, as distinct from professionals or expertsNumber 1 is applicable.

JW Podcast About The Shenanigans of the Borg in Australia
by dubstepped inso here's a link to the latest jw podcast.
in it they talk about how the organization is structuring things in australia to get out of paying money to victims of abuse.
the short version, as i remember it, is that they are making each congregation its own individual charity.
