What is the name of the reporter and which newspaper would it be published in? It may be a bit difficult for ex JWs to personally identify themselves to a one time poster.

2017 Convention Video To Be Shown Regarding The 1975 Failure
by pale.emperor inhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=go3arnnsfkk&feature=youtu.be.
no mention whatsoever that it was watchtower themselves that strongly hinted towards this date.
instead they blame those who "put their trust in a date, not jehovah".. let's recap... .

Meeting from Beroean Pickets has written an article on this. One of the points made is the following
The narrator of the video would have us believe the Organization was playing a different tune at that time. He adds: “But something just didn’t seem right. Both in meetings and in my personal study I was reminded of what Jesus said. Nobody knows the day or the hour”. [boldface added]
Sometimes you read or hear something like this and you just want to burst out with: “SAY WHAT?!”
The principle source for feeding the 1975 euphoria were the meetings, circuit assemblies, and district conventions. Additionally, magazine articles, particularly in the Awake! magazine, continued to feed this frenzy of anticipation. All of this is a matter of public record and cannot be successfully denied. Yet, here they are attempting to do just that, slipping it into a video almost as if they hope no one notices the poison pill. -

"some were looking with a certain date in view"
What was this date? It was not a date in as much as it was only a year. With this current generation teaching there is no date, as such, but there is still a time setting, which at a maximum, being before approx. 2070 although listening to the Gb talks, they would have you believe it is before 2040. Nothing has changed other than as time passes their 'date' becomes more general.
"I was dedicated to Jehovah, not a date"
This statement is a lot of nonsense, it means nothing. Who was ever dedicated to a date? There were only two scenarios either a JW was
- dedicated to Jehovah, without a date in mind or
- dedicated to Jehovah, with a date in mind
The fact is that by having a date in mind, without question, the individual became dedicated to the teachings of an organisation, not Jehovah's/Bible teachings.
"after that year came and went, most of those who had the wrong expectations made the needed adjustments and they stayed. We didn't run away and we didn't give up, we trusted in Jehovah"
What exactly were these 'needed adjustments'? It was to accept that the organisation were fallible and to accept their teachings regardless. It meant to accept them even against biblical warnings.
It's strange how the JW first explains that his deep study showed him that as no one knows the day or hour he personally didn't accept the org's teaching but then talks about 'we' not giving up or running away. It begs the question as to who he would be running away from. Since he already knew the truth of the matter then he could only have been running away from the organisation, not Jehovah.
It is an organisation that gives itself the right to get anything wrong and expects God to make matters right.
A good question to ask a JW who knows many of the crazy teachings of Russell or Rutherford would be whether they would think any less of a studious Bible student of that time, if they rejected those teachings.

They may not have mentioned a date but didn't someone point out that the year's text showing at the Kingdom Hall was the one they had for 1975?
It's so sad that they compare the 1975 fiasco as being as difficult a test as dealing with a loved one dying.

JW.org Childrens Page: Expanding My Circle Of Friends
by pale.emperor inhttps://www.jw.org/en/bible-teachings/family/teenagers/worksheets/expanding-circle-of-friends/.
some things of note here, it looks to me that they're encouraging young ones to befriend older people and "people not like them".
could this be because many of the young ones are now leaving?.

Justice McLellan from the ARC recently addressed a significant problem that religious organizations face in this aspect -
http://www.childabuseroyalcommission.gov.au/media-centre/speeches/safe-as-churches.aspxFaith based institutions also provide access to children. That access is available in an environment in which a child’s spiritual development occurs and is nurtured by adults. Children are brought up to respect, and to accept, the instruction of adults. It is how children learn, both about themselves and society. The child will always be vulnerable to the abusing adult. Where the adult is perceived by the child to be a manifestation of spiritual good, in some cases especially chosen by God, and able to instruct the child about the mysteries of life, death, belief in God, and good and evil an extra level of vulnerability may be present.
The Commissioners have heard many times from survivors who as children were told that if they tell anyone about the abuse they will be punished by God and may go to hell. Both physical punishment of the child and alienation from God are threats of which we repeatedly hear. Sometimes the child was told that the abuse afflicted upon them is God’s will.
Remarkably some have been told it is the way God wants them to learn about sex. The calculated exploitation of a child’s innocence is difficult to comprehend. The power afforded to the adult by the institution is corrupted and used to abuse the child.
The special attention which an abusing priest, pastor or religious person may have paid to the abused child is commonly welcomed by the child’s parent. This will also be true of a child’s sporting coach, lay teacher or dance instructor. That attention may engender a sense in the developing child that they are special. When the nurturing of a child’s spiritual development becomes entangled with affection and misplaced adoration of the abuser, both the risk to the child and the impact of the abuse when it occurs increases. The loss of a spiritual life for a survivor is common, although not universal. For many survivors this loss compounds the burdens they must carry for the rest of their lives.
A pubescent or post-pubescent child seeking to understand their own identity and place in the world, including their sexual identity, is vulnerable to the affections and special treatment of the adult leading ultimately to disillusionment and, for many, lifelong destructive consequences. -

Justice McClellan was addressing the National Council of Churches and the transcript can be found on the ARC Child Abuse website.
They have proposed that the redress scheme involve a number of aspects. It's not just monetarily but requires an active role by the organization in apologizing -http://www.childabuseroyalcommission.gov.au/media-centre/speeches/safe-as-churches.aspx
We said appropriate redress should include three elements:
A direct personal response by the institution, including an apology, an opportunity for the survivor to meet with a senior representative of the institution and an assurance as to the steps the institution has taken, or will take, to protect against further abuse.
Access to therapeutic counselling and psychological care as needed throughout a survivor’s life.
Modest monetary payments as a tangible means of recognising the wrong survivors have sufferedUnfortuantely it looks like the redress scheme will be voluntary.
On 4 November 2016 the Minister for Social Services, Christian Porter, announced the establishment of the Commonwealth Redress Scheme. In that announcement Minister Porter said that ‘any state, any territory, any church, any charity, who has responsibility in this area will be able to opt-in to the scheme’. Institutions would opt-in on the basis that they fund the cost of their own eligible redress claims.

Bible Examiner, was your attack brought on by what you were witnessing and the position you were in? You were obviously distraught at what was going on.
Since the Brother was an Elder it would have been very difficult to do anything but watch on as you can't be seen to questioning his authority.
I think Snowbird made some good points. Would it have been possible to invite the Elder and his son to just be observers as you took charge of all the door knocking and presentations? You could do this under the guise of them being new to your country and giving them time to adapt. -

It's an interesting game. I played it with a family of girls years ago. I noted that it was the most domineering of the girls that was controlling the board. The other sisters were not aware and it was a clever way to manipulate them.
