I find it hard to imagine what it must be like as a JW to invite their Bible studies to a meeting that's just a video, it's laughable. But it would make more sense if the special talk message is introducing a significant change and has to be highly scripted.

Juarez MX Assembly Kingdom Hall to be sold.
by ironsnake656 inthere are several confirmed announcements in some congregations around the city regarding the sale of the assembly kingdom hall.
one of the reasons why it will be sold is that expenses are not covered by donations.
the hall was dedicated in 2009. actually, in some congregations the elders have not given the announcement for the publisher's reaction... .

Desperate times call for desperate measures. I wonder what else they've got in mind in order to get more money?
They've been calling on the Bro's to simplify their lives, sell their belongings and homes and downgrade to units. Maybe they'll intensify their urgency for doing so and ask for the proceeds to enable them to speed up their preaching work.

Everything is Up for Grabs! So, who gets to decide?
by TerryWalstrom ineverything really is up for grabs.. our sense of "absolutes" is always under fire.
we are taught to invest all of our belief in the very idea of something being true and absolute and constant.but--is that illusory?.
examine how this works: jesus was tortured and murdered by hanging him on a cross.

Simon - Some are misguided but it doesn't take away their courage and bravery and they don't deserve to be erased from history.
What about those that chose not to go to war and were jailed? It could be viewed by some that this took more courage, they had to face ridicule and humiliation by their fellow countrymen, they are not celebrated or honoured.
Their courage and bravery was different, they were breaking the law and going against the generally accepted norm. Because they were in the minority their bravery is not acknowledged. The Vietnam War was possibly the most significant time when more individuals started to question this dilemma but I don't recall any monuments erected in their honour. There are songs, movies and artworks but no monuments, maybe this is one way that acceptance of alternative stances slowly creeps into society on a larger scale.
By acknowledging one group of people we diminish the accomplishments of another group of people, usually those in minorities but they are often there and it's good to examine these by looking back in history.

Ridiculous (degrading) comment on society's video
by Festus inon video "benefits of divine education" william samuelsson makes totally appalling comment.. starting from 3:05 he refers to "an effort" that was made in past to see how society's curriculum corresponds with normal - worldly - universities.. then he claims that following question was asked (to university representative) "how we in five months can teach the same that for them takes two years"?.
according to w samuelsson the representative of a university replied something like this: "your students are motivated, they have come to learn where as our students have been send to university by their parents and might have something else than learning in their mind".
this is to crystallize what he said.

There are some really creepy comments by one of the GB helpers. He says that their education 'has the power to 'tame eagles and create humility within the student'. The students 'become more trusted by the Organization'.
I bet Scientology feels the same way about their courses, the only difference is that it's a lot cheaper to be brainwashed by the Watchtower than Scientology.
If JWs aren't already putty in their hands then they're certainly going to be after going through one of their schools. It's no wonder that a person has to 'qualify' to attend these indoctrination sessions by already demonstrating their submissiveness to the organization. -

Are they planning some big changes and need to do a special talk beforehand to reinforce them?

She's holding a Bible in her hands, someone needs to tell her she won't find anything about shunning her sister in there.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sbE_G4VKcG0
He came across a very disturbing instruction directed towards teenagers on the JW website. It's under the heading of 'Teenagers Ask: How to Avoid Pornography'. There is a recommendation to make the following solemn promise -I will talk to a mature friend if I have a relapse
At best, why doesn't it say to talk to your parents or a 'spiritually strong' close friend. It's telling the child to talk to someone older, as in mature. It's just wrong to make this suggestion.
Even later under the same topic, the following suggestion is madeTalk to someone. Choosing a confidant is often an important step in breaking the habit.—Proverbs 17:17.
No suggestions are made as to who that 'confidant' should be other than the earlier statement about talking to a 'mature friend'. -

It seems that a fair number of posters have misunderstood my comment posted after the OP, with 5 dislikes (but 2 likes). It's good to see the comments written in response. My initial comment was
Dunedain, I hear you loud and clear.
If the organization wants to accuse ex Jws of hate speech then let them site your comments as an example and see what sort of sympathy that incites.I was commenting from the POV of the organisation. I did not personally call it hate speech. They accuse much of what ex JWs say as being hate speech and I could see them accusing what Dunedin said as being hate speech also but I was pointing out that if they did, then they would be wrong, it would be impossible to garner any sympathy because there was too much truth in Dunedain's words that explains the damage they cause.
I'll try to be a bit more careful in the way I express myself in the future and apologize if I upset anyone.

John Davis, suing the Watchtower may not achieve anything, the Government allows them too much freedom, a terrible evil and injustice in itself.
This does not mean that the Watchtower is not responsible because it is along with each member on the Governing Body. What a heavy load they carry.

JWs biggest problem is not doctrinal issues
by Chook init's biggest problems are associated with its lack of genuine love and concern for the rank& file.
the average person doesn't need a food critic to tell them their hamburger is shit, in the same manner the average person can discern kindness and love.
gbs fake love and concern is evident in the way head office deals with victims of sexual abuse by jw clergy.

The JWs have an artificial love. It's easily seen when the GB sign off on their letters expressing their love for all yet they have no idea who most of these JWs are. Another example is the adulation shown to convention delegates, again they are JWs who are unknown to each other.
